I would defend the Livers (kinda) in that they're "owned" by Nijisanji. Anything and everything that they say and do will always be screened and approved by Nijisanji, and Elira's stream is most likely forced on her by the company. Yes they could back out and not do it, but their livelihood and career is at stake. Some people value their career higher than any flak and slander from the public. I wouldn't defend Nijisanji though. In fact, I have even less opinion of them now that they're willing to use someone not even part of this issue to defend themselves. How low of them to do that.

The funny thing is that the defenders are making up their own narrative, such as Dokibird attacking others, or that Elira, Vox, and Ike did nothing wrong, but all that need be done to counter their 'argument' is quoting Niji's or the livers' own statements. It's all self-incriminating. Dokibird has taken no PROactive movement this entire time, everything she's done has been REactive. And even then, at no point did she attack anybody, much less specific individuals; all she's done is describe her own actions and clarify what's happened to her and her desire to leave it all in the past. The reason the public keeps getting madder and madder at Niji is because they keep saying stupid shit like, "Selen did not have permissions, even though all the relevant parties came forward to say they gave perms ages ago," or "We fired our most beloved vtuber but there will be no impact to our finances, neener-neener," or "We were afraid Selen would doxx us, so we struck first totally unprovoked even though she'd already said she wanted to drop it," or "Our livers cannot be blamed for leaking legal documents because they weren't the ones told not to leak them, only we were. Which makes the fact that we leaked them to said livers totally okay somehow." Like, the level of stupidity displayed by Nijisanji is astronomical. Every single thing they've said and done since the 5th has been making themselves look even worse, but they've continued to do it like they don't have a proofreader with a single shred of intelligence. The defenders have such lack of brains that they're not asking the obvious question of where the management of NIJI EN is in all this. For them to fail in planning events, paying artists, getting rights, and not respond to any of it in a timely manner or give Selen any idea of their progress or time-frame (but it was proven that "IP rights" is bullshit because other livers didn't have to follow that rule), it's such a grand level of incompetence and completely lacking accountability and responsibility on their own side that only makes sense if management straight up doesn't exist, which some ex-Niji livers have attested to, or worse, if the clique'd up talent IS the management and trying to protect their own interests. Like, explain why Elira has 9 merch releases out of 11 for Lazulight, compared to Pomu's and Finana's 2 each (Pomu solo release, then Pomu with Finana, then Finana with Elira). She is NOT the best performing talent in that group. Or how HYTE was able to bow out of their own collab deals so quickly after the news dropped (as if there wasn't enough red tape for the collab termination that could make dropping the collab hard or constitute a breach if they did so without cause). At this point the "stupidity" on display, clear favoritism that gives credence to Doki's claims, and lack of punishment for it is malicious and reeks of malignancy and corruption.

I'd like to point out that, RE: the selen song thing, it wasn't 'just a day'. She had been working on and planning the song for an entire year, involving her manager and getting permission for things the whole way along. The use of those ex-livers didn't happen on the final day; The manager had WAY more time than 'just a day' to begin the process of getting those rights but delayed until the literal last second when the song was all ready to go, and even then, it was a further 36 hours, not a day, of delaying by the manager FOR RIGHTS THE COMPANY OWNS before Selen put the song up anyway. Everyone is talking about the livers and general management but few are focusing on the one person that could have overridden any decisions that could have led to this and continues to lead to more animosity all around. It's largely the Western audience that is retaliating against fairly standard practices for a shitty JP company. I think the branches outside Japan were always test markets that made decent money but could be lit on fire if need be. The JP fans largely won't be swayed and EN might suffer for a while, but the talents are replaceable and expendable considering their business model. Since the beginning Niji approached the market with a shotgun approach to vtubing and at least in EN, invests minimal resources while providing a company name associated with big sub numbers. EN is on fire now but I don't think the CEO was ever all that worried or invested in these talents and more will come when auditions open again, though I don't expect public response to be very positive at that point.

I dunno what the grace period is in Japan’s Visa upon expiring/termination, but know that I’ve been in that situation during covid lockdown, was laid off WITH NO PRIOR NOTICE, along with my entire department, nobody was spared, we lost our working VISAs as well. And worst of all we had 10 days to renew it or leave, I chose to leave with the measely sum I had saved up. Long story short it isn’t worth the working VISA for a company who can just off you at any given moment, wouldn’t be surprised if Niji suddenly adds more of their talents or terminate them for trying to stand up against company orders.

TL:DR I don't think Pyonchik was saying what you're saying they said 11:29. HI Rev, newbie here. Before I say anything else, I just want to say I condemn Niji management, their handling of the termination and everything since pretty much says to me that they're salty they received a legal challenge, not even to mention what lead up to that. That said, I feel like 11:29 is, in good faith, an unwarranted characterization of the message on the screen. The way I read it, It's a JP bro calling for peace, because a previous incident mishandled by Niji managment led to widespread online harassment that lead to a Liver "getting hurt" and going inactive for 3+ years, and (I'm speculating here) they probably don't want to see that repeated. Of course, there is no reference to Selen doing these same things as the previous incident, so I applaud you for walking that back immediately. But I would argue, in the same vein, they weren't insinuating that she did that at all. They (again, I'm speculating here) just don't want vague allegations to devolve into widespread specific online negative speculation (that if it was about you, you could interpret as a harassment campaign), which could in turn lead to a Liver "getting hurt". The kind of thing Doki herself said she didn't want in every statement she's made. After all, the internet can be a cruel place. Luckily, as far as I know, everyone is still with us, and given time can keep giving us entertainment. Which I guess should explain why at least a couple thousand people thought it was worth a like. Of course, this is all Niji's fault for the mismanagement as well as implicating Livers. IDK what the fuck they were thinking with their statements.

The reality is that Vtubers are as much Idols as regular/IRL Idols and celebrities and the only things comparable to them in terms of the frothing fanaticism they envoke (willingly or not) is the company or team, they're associated with. these are people who've tied an essential part of their character, mental health, etc to these Vtubers and by extension their agencies which means they MUST fight for their team. the team could lock an idol in their basement and horrible "abuse" them and some fans WOULD NOT CARE because as long as they're getting fed the content the like the lives of others matters little.
