John I was 495lbs and couldn't loose weight. I ate what my doctor told me and I went to the gym and walked on a treadmill (I couldn't do anything more because of my bad back) and couldn't lose more than 15-20lbs. I ended up on a list for gastric bypass surgery but was told I was too high risk to have the surgery unless I lost 80lbs first. Imagine that, too fat to even have surgery to lose weight to help me. As a result I found an ultra low-carb diet (20gr) and the weight fell off like magic. I got down to my ideal weight of 180lbs (I'm really tall), I didn't even have to try, I could eat until I was full. My Type-2 diabetes reversed itself, my high blood pressure reversed and I went off all my medication for these. My cholesterol normalized from being a heart attack on paper with extremely high Triglycerides. Fast forward 8 years I'm still off all my medications and not Type-2 diabetic. I stick to 50gr of carbs a day now but I find that is the perfect balance for me to stay trim without needing to exercise. I also only eat once a day because I'm not hungry and this intermittent fasting helps keep my body with low insulin levels (insulin is a fat storage hormone). As my unfortunate luck would have it I ended up as a Paraplegic from an accident and I can easily manage my weight despite being paralyzed from the waist down. I thank god that I found this way of eating before I became Paraplegic or I would have died because my weight would have ballooned even worse. I eat mainly animal protein, green veggies, coloured veggies low in carbs (no carrots other than mixed into things), I eat no Pasta, Bread, Starches, Potatoes, Rice. I avoid all sugar and anything processed. I don't drink any alcohol. I eat no fruit other than low sugar berries because Fructose to the liver is just sugar, and I eat a lot of eggs and fish. My blood work and bio markers show me as being about 25 as the calculated age despite being 43. This REALLY does work. I'm walking proof of it. I tell my story everywhere I can to help others. If we give the body what it needs it will heal and maintain itself!

A vegan diet contains no taurine. Taurine is naturally produced by the body, especially after exercise, but production decreases with age, which can become a significant issue for vegans. We know why they do this and patient's like my friend, take their "permission " to eat junk from the doctors minimizing diet as effective treatnent. Healthy eating is not a pharmaceutical, so that may explain the lack of attention. I'm glad you've focused on this today; it's so important. I hope RFK and Dr..Mahotra succeed. Thanks, John. Sugars are a funny one. It only takes a few days for me to stop craving them completely after stopping. 0 desire. But as soon as somebody insists I have a slice of their birthday cake or I stupidly pick up a snicker bar to eat on the way to work just out of convenience, the cycle restarts.

It´s a survival technique our bodies developed hundreds od thousands of years ago. Sugar (fruits/honey) was only availabe for a few months per year, so it was best for us to gobble up as much of it as possible, to get fat for the winter. We have a built-in sugar addiction to achieve that. Back then nature made us withdraw naturally, as there were no carbs left in the wild when winter came.

We don’t need to be eating every few hours, this is just what we’ve naturally done for hundreds of years but it isn’t needed. The carvings etc dissipate over quite a short amount of time and you enjoy the small 4 hour eating window and it leaves your body time to work on repair, rebuilding and removing dead cells etc etc. Your skin, hair and mind are all much healthier under a restrictive eating plan.

I have had IBS for 15 yrs. I am gluten and dairy free which helps. But I also need to eat rice or potatoes to calm my gut when I have a flare up. So I rinse the rice to get rid of a lot of starch. Then cook my carbs and then refrigerate them for 12 hrs. That turns the starch to resistant starch and when eaten after that you metabolize the starch more like a fiber and not like a sugar/starch

I've been low carb for 7 or 8 years after having been a serious carbo-holic. It began as I started hearing more about metabolic syndrome and recognizing that, although I still looked like a fit active person, my years of being fueled by carbs may very well be setting me on a path of metabolic syndrome then diabetes. After trying to reduce carbs, I found it much easier to eliminate all sugar, pasta, bread (starches). A month ago I went as close to zero-carb as I could. Concentration on fatty red meat, eggs, butter, sardines. As much as my wife thinks it is too extreme she has noticed my skin looking healthier (not dry and flaky - even in the depths of cold Canadian winter), much less time spent on the toilet, multiple aching joints at previous injury sights no longer causing issues, almost daily bloody noses completely stopped, constant runny nose - no longer, late afternoon energy drop - gone. I think I might be a hyper-responder. In my pre-low-carb life of trying low fat, high fiber, one vegetarian meal per week all I remember is having many bloody noses and what seemed like spending half my day on the toilet with loose stool and broadly varying energy levels throughout the day. Going zero carb has been the most apparent food: positive feedback I've experienced after years of following the recommended diet regimes (I never had any positive feedback to any previous eating plans).

some people are so sugar-addicted that they can never go zero carb, or even low carb. I've given up trying to convert people, I can only let them see how well I am on my carnivore diet, 12% body fat despite eating 70% of calories (meaningless metric) from animal fats.

LDL down, Triglycerides down, weight considerable down and body fat at 15% through diet but also cardio exercises. I am passionate about cutting out also statins from my regime which many cardiologists here in Asia are still swearing by as the ONLY way to deal with high cholesterol. Hope changes come soon so lowly patients like us need no longer fight an uphill battle with our own medical community.

I have been on a grain - free diet for over a year. The improvement in how I feel is like night and day. I had started listening to Dr. Peter Osbourne on KZbin, who wrote "No Grain, No Pain". I also listen to Dr. John Bergman. Just a note ... I'm in my mid 60s. I take no prescriptions. I don't drink. Never been interested in drugs. I do strength training and walking. I try my best to practice preventative care. Decades ago, someone mentioned that if people thought good health was costly, try bad health.

The expression "healthy whole grains" is akin to saying healthy low-tar cigarettes. The ancient Egyptians had a wheat-based diet, and had high levels of cardiovascular disease, obesity and terrible dental health. Bear in mind that their ancient strain of wheat had much lower levels of harmful proteins such as gliadin than modern wheat.

It’s great to see that this advice is becoming more mainstream and it’s great that you are sharing this information with your community. This is what holistic nutritionists and naturopathic doctors have been saying from many years. This is how I was raised and I’m 63. I changed the way I ate in the late 90s when I met a new partner and he enjoyed cooking so he did most of it. It was very carb heavy and I ended up putting on 30 lbs, we also got into a habit of eating dessert most nights. When I ended the relationship, I went back to the way I ate previously and lost the 30 lbs, that was in 2006. It has stayed off ever since. So eating this way has been around a very long time but there have been so many influences causing people to change their ways.
@JohnsonCraniumКүн бұрын
Nope. It’s a bad thing and I’ll tell you why. As a holistic approach gets “more mainstream” The teaching of alternative practices gets more sloppy and lazy… And the students of these practices become more lazy, uneducated and just trying to make a dollar like the western doctors. The practice over time loses its power… Once upon a time it took 10 years of study to do Chinese acupuncture… now, people study and learn it in a weekend course… Westerners ruin everything 💁♂️

The Family doctor about 1958 told me, aged 14, to cut out all sugars, cakes, puddings, choc bars, sweets, you name it. I was poisoning myself and my Pancreas was showing signs of being not well. viz diabetes. 20 years later, after dropping weight I began to slowly eat cakes again but always kept it in check. No Insulin or other interventions needed
@miriamweller812Күн бұрын
Puddings, ice cream and alike (if you take care for not eating the insane variants with massive amount of sugar and fat added) are pretty harmless in comparison to other sweets, normally 1/5 of kcal via much less sugar and fat than choc bars, cakes and so on. Even less when you take care and go for low fat/sugar versions. Of course when you want/must lose weight, it's likely better to not eat anything like that at least for a while, but it could make it easier to start switching to stuff that you still like but simply got way less calories.

I mean, you literally die without carbohydrates, especially our brain, but the body can produce those itself if it does not get it via food. So overall you simply can't avoid carbohydrates and if your body wouldn't be able to handle that via gluconeogenesis, you would just fall over dead.

@miriamweller812Күн бұрын
I mean diet soda, while not "good" is also not bad. It's pretty much water plus some artificial sweetener, which are 200+ times more potent than sugar by that you only need 1/200th of the amount for the same effect. 2l of cola got 212g sugar (apple juice by the way got even more), but you only need ~1g of artificial sweetener for the same sweetness. And no, it does not make you hungry or ill, especially not that low amount, you would need to consume insane amounts of them to have a bad effect. So if you want the sweet taste, diet soda is clearly a good choice. By the way: No one ever said that eggs and meat are bad, too much of it - what is the case for everything, was and is seen as bad. In case of bread it was always said that the whole-grain bread is better than the white bread.

I decided to change my diet on2nd jan25. 64 year old female. Went Keto - prior I avoided fat, had little cheese, had occasional Salmon (the grown/farmed kind). Loads of curries, veggie pizza and the like , occasional salad etc. Pescatarian/vegetarian. I went Keto - weighing 89.8kg at 5ft 4. 😢OBESE. I cut my carbs to 20g a day,eat eggs cheese yoghurt, wild caught salmon sardines, prawns and as much salad greens as I want. I eat between 2pm and 6pm only. No alcohol- cold turkey. (proving to myself I am not an alcoholic- you never know!!) 29Jan just 4 weeks later I am 82.2 kgs. I can feel it and I haven’t done anything Excercise yet. Want to be 75kg before I start exercising - you can injure yourself due to the weight you carry. Amazing 6+ kgs in 4 weeks. . I lowered to 20g carbs a day , everyday, and then increased protein and no worries about eating fat! Eating fat has gotten rid of fat. Or released the fat as I have become fuelled by ketones not sugar. I will keep doing this because I like the food and find it easy once you know to work the numbers for 20g carbs. It’s lowering the carbs that gives access to burn your fat store instead. Sticking to 1000 to 1200 cals a day a day. My fasted morning blood has been no higher than 5:00 in the morning for 10 days. My blood pressure 108/65 pulse 65 - HAPPY DAYS 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

@ms-jl6dlКүн бұрын
Spelt also significantly increases the body's production of IgG4 antibodies which dampen the immune system's reactions and that is not good. How about barley bread or millet flour which do not cause such changes? I guess in your case (arthritis?) your joints benefited from dampened immune reaction because your problem is auto-immune disease or your own immune system overreacts and attacks your joints. In any case well done and good luck.

Than you Dr. I always think it is a shame that most doctors don't look into fermentation more. Since what the food industry is doing is actually mimicking what happens with fermentation : keeping food for as long as possible but with preservatives (which are a major source of health problems). Fermentation is safe, its super-good Since it boosts the benefits of the foods or drinks that are fermented. Fruit kefir, milk kefir, lacto fermentation, sourdough bread, and so much more. And the best of all is that its so simple to get into it. Eating fruit and vegetables is good, eating and drinking fermented food is the next stage.

👏👏👏This video is like a Rx for health! Thank you Campbell! The ONLY thing I would recommend for an increased chance of a succesful reset would be to start the protocol with a fasting period (the duration depends on your personal condition, i.e. glucose, insuline, medication, etc.) P.S. Kudos on Campbell's alcohol liberation!

I highly recommend baking your own bread and own burger buns. It's really simple.
