Ah yessssss !!! It's finally that time of year. It's been absolutely grueling waiting all year long to get together with the boys and head up to our Deer Camp in Michigan's Upper Peninsula aka God's country. Please go grab some coffee and join us as we experience yet another season with family and friends together at our up north off grid deer camp. We think you will especially enjoy all the sarcasm in the beginning as the guys arrive and pack for gun camp. Watch as you see the guys at Camp Benny endure the elements of the cold and experience the again unexpected that is thrown at them. Deer Camp camaraderie is just the absolute best. If you like the whole deer camp experience and aren't bothered by the fact that giant bucks aren't getting harvested then this is going to be a good watch for you ! Enjoy, stay safe, God bless you, your friends and family. It's Camp Benny 2022....let's get this show started !!!

My wife and I were looking at U.P. "hunting" properties for seven years until 2020. I thank God daily for leading us to the Ozarks. Here, no grown man would dare show up with a buck younger than 3-1/2yrs old scoring at least 120". You just don't shoot the typical "Michigan four pointer" or even a "basket 8". You get more respect for shooting a "management buck" with your firearms tag. I lived in Michigan ten years. Life is better in the Ozarks...the people and climate are a lot warmer. The godliest folks I've ever lived amongst. ;-)

Deer camp is never about the DEER, it is always about the comraderies that are formed and renewed each year. The camp I was part of in Northern Wisconsin had three elderly hunters who took their first Whitetail buck when they were 10-12 years old in the 1890's!! I loved those Model 1894's they carried in .38-55 caliber. What a "brush gun." Bacon and eggs, steaks seared in a cast iron skillet and a stack of hotcakes on the griddle. Enjoy the CAMP. it is some of the best time you'll ever have.

Great to hear you share your faith in Christ gentleman. One of my best memories going to the U.P. was stopping at a Ma/Pa restaurant in Cadillac. Me and my brothers were the only ones in the restaurant. I said grace and the owner came up and said "It's great to see men praying." You should of seen the smile on my brother's faces! Hope you had a great time together.

Finally got time to sit down and watch all these videos that I have stacked up for the last few weeks. Weird not seeing your bro in the passenger seat this year but it was nice seeing buddy fill that vacancy, hope he had as good of a time as it looked like he did. Takes a true sportsmen to mention their mistakes but I'm glad you did and the meat went to someone in need. I finally made it back up to the U P this year for a couple days. I haven't been across the bridge in 11 years and a buddy of mine that has a place up by singleton invited me up this year so I made it back up and boy did it fell good. His dad shot a dandy 9 pointer last year on opening day and fell ill a few days later from the illness that doesn't deserve its name to be mentioned and he passed away December 9th up there from it so I think it meant a lot to my buddy to have as many close friends up there with him this year and we had a blast. Best of luck the rest of the season and be careful out there fellas.

I don't know why they gotta take your deer. Makes no sense. I'm glad it got good use. But that was a mature 3 to 4 year old year old deer. It's not like when ur hunting and u get all this time to determine if a point is a inch. What if ur family needed that meat to survive. I don't get it. 4 or 5 points. Please. In Minnesota u don't have to sit and wonder dang is that a inch..Anyhow ur a true sportsman and showed what doing what the LAW says to do. Still awesome video.

Dejavu? Or was that the same feller, that showed up late in your 2021 "Opener" video? Ya gotta start doing, what I do to Sis! "We are heading out 4:45 am." Since we ACTUALLY want to head out by 5:15! Starting to think she is deliberately doing that 'Late' BS during Hunting Seasons? Yes! I did inadvertently pee on her once! The wind was blowing...i was aiming at a corner on the house. Made it like a "Tornado under an Over Pass situation! "What ya doing bro? MOMMY!!! He peed on me!!!!!" That was 46 years ago, for Heaven's Sake! I let her hunt my best stands. everything else she needs I provide. Mom's Bibs and Boots..here ya go! OK...I do that to keep Mom out of the woods..its NOT repressed Guilt! 🤦‍♂🤦‍♂🤣🤣 If you remember one of my posts on a video of yours? Mom, is the one you need to keep an eye on! Your videos remind me of when I would watch Fred Trost on Michigan Out of Doors with my father. Going out for the first time in 20 years this year and my father is gone now but I remember going to deer camp with him the few years we went. Your videos are bringing back memories of then as well. Wish we had gone more and spent more time together like that over the years. I don't know why we stopped going. Damn its hard to think about all this. Anyway, I love what you are doing here. It was good to get that buck out of the gene pool. I have property in the Eastern U.P. and have some older bucks with racks that make them illegal on a combo tag. I almost accidentally shot one on opening day. It was a large bodied deer with a small non-typical rack. Glad I didn't pull the trigger but it was close. Glad the DNR officer used some common sense in extending you grace. This was obviously not an immature buck.

@campbenny
@campbenny Жыл бұрын
Personally, I see the pluses and minuses to it. I don't see how hunting would go away without these innovative tools. They let me hunt more than ever. Yes, they can be used to a point of unhealthy behaviors. Many folks don't possess skills of self-control. I miss many things of the old days, but I choose to move on and build. I don't think our forefathers were opposed to innovation for survival unless it was coupled with ignorance. We would be toast as a nation without it. We have definitely become too soft and have had it too cushy, and it shows in the next generation. Some major heart issues in people everywhere these days. Just my opinion.... Where do you place the doe in heat sent from where your sitting any specific area you like to place it
@campbenny
@campbenny 2 ай бұрын
I usually place it within 50 yards of me and upwind from where I think the bucks are most likely to hangout. Sometimes I set it right next to me to help cover my scent. I only use the doe n heat about 1 week out of the entire season. Early-mid Nov time period. Good luck this season 👍🏻

You’re a real sportsman! I bet you’d enjoy hunting mule deer in my little corner of Montana. We hunt whitetails along the river bottom and mule deer up in the high ground. All the best during the 2023 season!

I noticed that Brian at 5:10 of the Video was using a 30-30 with the Remington soft nose Ammunition. I highly recommend him checking with a gun expert and switching to the Hornady Lever Revolution Ammunition. It will improve accuracy and performance as well as distance. I have the same exact gun in a .35 and I can attest to 100 yd pinpoint accuracy and you don’t have to track far.

Outstanding part 1 video. You have captured the anticipation of the season and what deer hunting is all about. Looks like a much better start to the season than last year. So sorry to hear about the buck, but goes to show you are a stand up guy for doing the right thing. Thanks so much for a great video. Our season is over and I can’t wait for the next season, it’s going to be a long year. LOL Regards Mark

Subscriber here since your 2019 hunting season and I really enjoy watching your camp and your hunts. Way to be honest with your buck! Not many would do that. Here in Wisconsin, we don't have restrictions like Michigan does, but there has to be at least 1 point of 3 inches or bigger to register as a buck. Opening day this year I shot the only deer I saw, which I thought was a doe and it ended up being a 5 pointer with the rack being only about 4 inches long on both sides. I never even saw the rack on the deer when I decided to pull the trigger and I'm glad I did! God blessed my family and I with some meat in the freezer this year and I couldn't be any happier for that! Bummer you didn't get to keep your deer though. At least you have it on film to tell the story years from now! Also glad you feel better this year for deer hunting, vs last year with Covid! I ended up with Covid a 2 weeks before I went bow hunting this year - my first time with it and it went away about 4 days before I left for deer camp! Shot and missed a nice buck that weekend with my cross bow at about 40 yards. Oh well! I'd rather miss than wound it!

Thanks for your words of encouragement and for being a subscriber. Interesting how the antler point restrictions work over there. I'm going to hunt over in Wisconsin one of these falls. Congrats on your deer Stephen! 🦌

Hey Ben and crew great video to bad for the short coming that must be hard to judge on length. We are lucky here in Ontario but if you only have a buck tag you have to be careful with the little spikes. My dad and I had anterless tags so what's brown is down more or less. Wasn't able to hunt gun season because of work but I did make a short trip to my property and shot a little 6 point with the crossbow. Well can't wait for part 2 love the videos Ben👍

I enjoy your content/ however, over an hour is excessive. (Actually, I think most of the big youtubers keep content down to under 30 minutes. This last video could have been easily edited down to two 30 minute videos. That being said, keep posting those U.P. stories.

That rule kinda sucks in Michigan. I’m from Wisconsin and we have had r fair share of rules that sucked. (Earn a buck for example). I’m surprised they just didn’t age the buck by it’s teeth. They what more mature bucks taken but that doesn’t always mean the racks r going to follow in certain areas. I agree that deer was definitely 3.5. God bless.

We use 1 deep cycle battery. It will charge everyone's phone for about a week on a full charge. You may have noticed look setting it up on this video the day we arrived. He hooked the alligator clips with a multiport dc charger. Less draw using dc vs trying to convert to ac.
