Why did you keep the one end of the sliding slats portion hanging free? You could easily attach those loose ends to another 2x4 that rests against the wall 2x4, and effectively slides underneath the fixed slats. .
@SeizeTheAdventureCo
@SeizeTheAdventureCo 11 ай бұрын
You are right about that and the answer is simply a fitment issue. When I attached the slats together it was too tight to slide. I could improve this design if I build another.

If you wanted the legs to be atleast double the length for more storage space underneath would that need more support?
@SeizeTheAdventureCo
@SeizeTheAdventureCo 2 жыл бұрын
In that case I would suggest more support. If this bed was double the height I wouldn’t be able to sit on it in couch mode. Since this video I redesigned this bed with 2x2 rather than 2x4 to make it even more low profile to allow me to sit up straight inside the van (still have plenty of storage for clothes, extra blankets, stove, propane, road side equipment, etc.) So depending on your platform making this twice as tall would make you very close to the ceiling in a Astro/Safari van. Hope this helps, feel free to ask any further questions. Don’t forget to check out my other camper van bed build in the Adventure Van build series playlist. Cheers!

You will eventually regret for the "nice" floor thresholds. Your floor will get wet at some point and the water will flow under those thresholds. You will need to remove EVERYTHING to remove the floor and cleanup / dry the underneath. Correct approach would be letting the floor material stay over the thresholds, making the ground like a pool.

Hey, I love how it's so simple, but looks very sturdy. I plan on building one that is about 78in x 28 or 30in. It has to fit a mattress that is 78 x 58 (unfolded), 58 x 26 (tri-folded). Do you think you could share a list of all the materials and the length of all the cuts for the frame and slats, please? My 2020 Ford transit 250 Van, gives me about 120'' L x 68'' W to work with. Any tips you could share would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks

Hello Kelly. The bed design is very sturdy and has survived many nights camping with it so far! I have since re-designed this set up and created a very thorough video of it. Go over and check that out. I believe I provide a few measurements that can help you determine what is best for your build. My bed is strictly designed around the mattress that I purchased so that would be my first suggestion. Determine what mattress you will be using/creating. This will give you the length and width of your desired bed. Feel free to ask anymore questions you might have. Thanks for watching.

@SeizeTheAdventureCo
@SeizeTheAdventureCo 3 жыл бұрын
That’s great, Safaris are the best! Thanks for watching 😎. What I did was found a sheet of white plastic (to match the fantastic fan trim) and I cut it to size and then mounted it to the planks. This was the best method I could think of because connecting the wall and ceiling with cedar planks would mean reducing valuable headspace to accommodate for the lack of flexibility of the planks due to the curvature of the Van. Plastic is much more malleable then the cedar and actually turned out really nice! Hope this makes sense!

Well my hamster diarrhea still hasn't been cured, my dentist phoned to cancel my appointment, the bulb I bought for the Living room is too bright and I can't find the receipt to return it, I have two yogurts in the fridge that the use by date is today and I bet I forget about them, the filters I washed in my vacuum should be dry but you have to make sure they're bone dry or they'll clog up again, the clock in the hall still needs a new battery but I never remember that while out at the shops. I've bought a big container of dish washing liquid on eBay rather than buy small squeezy bottles every couple of months, I still haven't figured out how to change the clock in my car's time, I think you press the trip meter with the ignition on but I can't find the owners manual.
