I don't have that problem , my van is old so cheapest quote will do , I won't be making any claims even if written off , so long as it covers the other person if i am at fault then that will keep me happy .

We got our new VW T6 at the end of November last year. Getting insurance was okay, So I thought. My husband who is French was waiting for his Visa, I told the company I wouldn’t put his name on it, till he came back to Scotland. That seem to be okay. When I called in February to put his name on the insurance, they told me he would need to live in the UK for two years and have a UK license before they would insure him. I was not happy. 😟

The only real way of sorting this properly is to get your van registered as a camper get it NCC inspected and get a habitation check. Then phone someone like caravan guard insurance but the sticking point is they will ask what make is the conversion and who converted it. If it’s a self build with mods the insurance company can’t provide an accurate policy as they can’t be certain it’s been converted to spec. Been there built loads and it’s an issue. In some countries they won’t allow this build to go on the road unless it’s been tested like the Spanish or Germans. There is one way and that’s insure your van as a commercial vehicle and all your contents insured via your home insurance

Unfortunately your van is not a campervan as per dvla definition and will always be recorded as a van with windows although you are still required to inform your insurance company of all modifications. PS Nice to see you on the M6 yesterday in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 but don't look so shocked when you get recognized from behind 😂😂
