A Dog A Day

Күн бұрын

The start of our latest ten night tour of Western Scotland covering Bute, Oban, Mull and Glen Orchy. Here, after an overnight stay just outside Elvanfoot, we take the ferry to Rothesay on Bute and find a lovely camp on the beach at St Ninian's Bay where we do a bit of fancy cooking on the BBQ. From there we tour the island, taking in the Mount Stuart Estate, several other fine beaches and St Blane's Church before settling on our final park-up at Etterick Bay.

Cheers Guys. Thanks for watching and commenting. Bute does seem very relaxed and friendly. We spoke with plenty of locals, mostly dog walkers and they were all very nice and helpful. Regarding the cooking, I’m a rubbish cook and if left to myself would eat beans on toast every day lol. Claud can cook but doesn’t really enjoy it when we’re at home. But when we’re camping it’s a really nice way to spend time doing something together so we really do enjoy cooking when camping. And it does taste good too which helps. How are you guys getting on?

Fantastic! Would you mind giving me the 'what three words' for the layby you stayed in first and last on Mull - and the one where you stayed at Loch na Keal please? Going to Mull in two weeks time with my sister, best friend and our dogs - two campervans!

Hi. Mull was fab. You're going to love it. The lay bay was ///interlude.grabs.smelter but someone posted on another of our videos that the woman has stopped letting people stay, which is sad if true. There were quite a few spots along Loch Na Keal. We stayed around the ///directory.hurray.cocoons area as it was the most spacious but there were other nice spots. ///hoot.belonging.aunts looked like fun and I think you could get two vans on it. Have a great time x

Please can I ask about Your lovely Dutch oven type pan, where would I find one please ?
@adogaday
@adogaday 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, we are cooking on the Madog outdoors open fire set. It is a brilliant set. I found it on Kickstarter over a year ago and instantly fell in love with it. It is made of carbon steel so needs seasoning just like a cast iron pan and it cooks like cast iron but is a lot lighter than cast iron. It is specifically designed to be cooked on real coals/open fire (unlike most other pans that have artificial non-stick coatings on them which can leach off at the high temperatures you get on a real fire,) and it cooks really evenly and consistently. It is one of my favorite things that I have ever bought for the van and it has transformed what we cook whilst camping, as you can see from our videos. Keep an eye out for our upcoming video where we bake a loaf of bread and a lasagna from scratch. Here is the link to the pan set. I think buying the skillet and Dutch oven together is best as collectively with the shared lid it means you can pretty much cook anything. www.madogoutdoors.com/shop

I am certain you will love it. It really is beautifully designed and will last a lifetime. It arrives un-seasoned so you can learn to season it yourself and so if we ever need to re-season it if it gets scratched or just wears off it is really simple to fix. I too had been looking at cast iron Dutch ovens and skillets but the weight of the Dutch ovens put me off and the handle on a skillet getting too hot worried me so when I found this set it was like fate. The detachable handle is ingenious. I have two of the handles which is really useful when cooking in both the Dutch oven and skillet at the same time.
