This is a great video. Very informative and not afraid to show potential weaknesses in the vacuum sealer and the process, and a few work-arounds. The sealer seems like a very good product. May have a look at buying one later.

I've been trying to figure out how I can bring sliced bread with me on my backpacking trips so I can make sandwiches. On another site they froze the bread slices first before vaccum sealing them to prevent flattening the bread. However, I still need to know how long I can expect the slices to remain fresh without mold after sealing. I would be carrying them in a backpack, no ice chest or cooler to keep them in. Any idea?

Not sure about this sorry, rkatrails, I imagine it would depend on the ingredients in the bread. I guess there is always some oxygen contained within bread, the only way to remove it is to crush it down to squeeze all the air out. I'd say it will lengthen the time for which the bread will stay fresh, but by how much I really don't know sorry. ~ Ben

I'm not sure sorry, Jammin, I'm sure there must be retailers with similar products over there. ~ Ben

If you want to vaccum seal liquid, you can freeze it first.
