Hi Beth! New to your channel. I am currently at our off grid cabin in the Yukon. I had to chuckle as you did the dishes. I do the same sort of thing here. Our water comes from our lake, but has to be hauled up in containers. So no running water, hot or cold! I leave my dishes for a few days and use 1 kettle full of hot water to both wash and rinse. Then I use the used water to pre-rinse the next batch of dishes so they are mostly clean for the next wash day. You learn all these tricks when things are not as 'convenient' as in a regular modern house. I have found the things I learned at the cabin where we have been coming for 23 years, have been a huge asset to the part of the year we live in our travel trailer traveling in the US. Loved the video and Apollo is a sweet heart! I think he and my Gracie would get along. Both mischievous!

Hi! Thank you for sharing! I've never been to the Yukon; hoping to go this summer! And yes, you definitely learn to do things differently and not take things for granted (like fresh water, things in general) everything has a purpose and a place where it is stored. But living more simply has really change my perspective on life. In a good way! Appreciating the people in my life in a whole new way. Safe travels to you!

The sunsets and sunrises in the desert are the best. They are not only amazing to look at, but the light for photography and filming is incredible. That was a great shot at the end with the sun at your back. The way the sun highlighted your hair was really nice. There was just enough diffusion from the thin clouds to keep it from being too harsh. Jason

Did you do the hot springs at the Gila Cliff Dwellings? That one was awesome due to being next to a river in the canyon.
@mid.lifeadventurer
@mid.lifeadventurer 18 күн бұрын
Hi! Yes! I did those and several others in New Mexico. (Melanie is nearby too) but Spence Hot Springs near Jemenz Reservation was my favorite. I share about it in my video 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/d4W3gaR3mNCjfdksi=JqG_SZunr-cxVIhA I wish I had gotten footage of all the springs (I shared about them all on my IG account but not on YT), I hadn't really started this channel then. San Fransisco was another fave. But the Gila Dwelling ones were amazing because if you look up over the river, you can see a little cave. Definitely will be back to this area!

Thank you Beth for such beautiful cinematography! I guess as a woman I would love to go I to the heart of the nature but I worry about my safety. Being all alone I’m the middle of the desert at night is scary. How do you protect yourself against problems? I love nature and that is my thing as well!
@mid.lifeadventurer
@mid.lifeadventurer 18 күн бұрын
Hi and thank you! I appreciate the kind comment! You know, when I started, the "alone" part was the scary part for me. But I also didn't want to not get to do those things thinking I had to have a partner to do them with. As a solo female traveler, I definitely do a lot of things to try to stay say while on the road. Watch my video on camping 👉 kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2fFZ52Zd9B5i9ksi=9GkDLYiSVIldEpTubecause I share on some safety tips that I do. But I think now the road feels more home than not. And I do stay alert, always be observant of where you are and what towns are nearby. I also read reviews of the area I'm in to see if there are any concerns I should be aware of. But the biggest part is that I listen to my instincts. I've left several places before. This might make for a good future video!

Just wondering how you are dealing with the kitty litter box and where do you keep it?
@mid.lifeadventurer
@mid.lifeadventurer 18 күн бұрын
I do have a litter box for Apollo! It's a travel litter box, which makes it easy to move and carry if I'm staying with someone. I keep it at the front passenger feet area (unless someone is traveling with me and then I move it under my dining table). It zips close and I use a special litter that is all natural. It isn't as messy (since Apollo is!) but it's also really good at odor control (which is a MUST on such a small space!) I have all my Travel items linked in my Amazon Storefront in the description of the video but here's the direct link to traveling with a cat: www.amazon.com/shop/mid.lifeadventurer/list/2DGCEWUR13MIR?ref_=aipsflist

What window shades are you using for the front 🤔
@mid.lifeadventurer
@mid.lifeadventurer 18 күн бұрын
Hi Daniel- My van company that did my build: Noovo provided these for me. But the brand is called Xplr Outfitters (link below to their site). They were a little pricey but I can't recommend them enough! They do an incredible job of keeping out the cold/heat, and the magnetic way they fit in the windows then accordion style open/close with snaps and their quality makes it worth every penny imo. I've had them for 3 years (in February) and they've lasted me this entire time of van life without any issues or wear/tear. I have them for my front windows, my rear cargo windows and my sliding door window. My dining area and windows at foot/head of my bed have pull down shades that came with the windows with screens. Check out their site and lmk if you have any other questions: ⤵ www.xplroutfitters.com/index.html

Hey Beth, quick question I am asking many of those that I follow. How long do you spend at each site? When I start my journey (travel trailer) I plan to spend about 1-2 weeks at each place so I can explore, but it seems that most of you spend 1-2 days at each site. Also, what kind of MPG do you get in a 3500?
@mid.lifeadventurer
@mid.lifeadventurer 19 күн бұрын
Hi! I typically will spend 2-3 days in a site but when I'm traveling, a lot of times I stay 1 night in a location. I'm trying to get into a better rhythm of slowing down in some places. I get 17mpg with my 2500 Ram :)
