I hope you have a fantastic trip! I'm so glad to hear this video is helpful and appreciate your kindness. The Ditch Creek Campground is easily a favorite. Everything about the experience was so pleasant, picturesque, and interesting. The Black Hills is such a spectacular area.

What a beautiful place. I have to put the Black Hills on my bucket list. Love all the green and the stream. Also dinner looked very good. Safe travels.

It is so beautiful. It is a good bucket list choice. I could have stayed there forever, at least until winter. Their winter starts much earlier than ours. Dinner turned out alright. Thank you for watching and dropping a note to us.

an 8 hour recording of that creek would make for an excellent video to play while trying to sleep

Yes! It so would.

That looked like a cool spot. We just left Oreville campground between Hill City and Crazy Horse as it closed for the season. We got snowed on one day and we went to the Buffalo roundup. I posted a video of it. Thanks for the video, I’m making a mental note to check out Ditch Creek. We seem to wander through the Black Hills at least every other year. I love the fly fishing there and couldn’t help but wonder if Ditch Creek had trout in it.

So cool that you got some snow! We saw folks fishing in Ditch Creek further down river/Ditch Creek Road, close to Deerfield Road. Don't know if they were catching.

Looks like fun and thanks for sharing! Falling off the log is fine as long as you saved the camera! Good job and glad you didn't get really hurt. I'd do the same thing too.

We recently spent a few days in the Black Hills at Custer State park. We just missed the buffalo roundup there. Also, picked up a Morris Mule on our way through Wyoming :) We definitely want to get back to the area some day.

Hello, I have been enjoying your vids!. As an aside; Chaga only grows on Birch. There is however a false tinder fungus. or you could char some old blue jeans and get great char cloth .. Just sayin'. Please keep yer vids comin' regards!!
@wobblyotteroutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Hello, Bruce, and thanks for watching! Thank you too for the notes about chaga and false tinder fungus! That's likely why Bill was wary of it. Since we weren't sure what it was, he didn't want to take a chance on us catching it on fire and inhaling potentially hazardous smoke. Making the jeans char cloth sounds like a great idea. Thank you for the encouragement on the videos! We need support like yours to grow and continue.

Beautiful area and video. I walked across stream logs up until my middle 60s but somehow lost the urge for some good reason :-)

So what are some areas for dispersed camping? Like for someone who wanted to be alone, preferably by a freshwater source
@wobblyotteroutdoors4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrew. Google is your friend. I typed, "dispersed camping black hills south dakota" into Google. This is one of the results that came up. www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd493142.html These two things should help you find what you're looking for.

@@wobblyotteroutdoors thank you. I've actually visited that page and many others, I figured I'd ask someone with first hand expirence out there.

You're welcome. That's the best help we are able to offer. Ditch Creek is the only place we have camped in South Dakota. That's our only trip to the state so unfortunately we don't have any depth of experience to share. I'm glad you found that map before! It looks like a great resource. I sincerely hope you find and get to enjoy the type of place you are looking for.

Im not sure if you guys use a cooler or 12v system to keep your food fresh have you ever talked about what you use?
@wobblyotteroutdoors6 жыл бұрын
We haven't discussed the cooler that we use on camera. For perishables, we are using an ice chest. The only thing I don't like about using the ice chest is digging around in the ice and icy water to find stuff. It would be so very nice to have a 12-volt refrigerator, but we just haven't made the leap to shell out the cash for one yet. The refrigerator of interest is the Dometic CFX-35W.

Me and my wife are thinking about getting a hummer h3t but not sure if it will work for us if our still in the black hills we live in miles city montana think you could swing by so we can look at yours there isnt to many h3t around
@wobblyotteroutdoors6 жыл бұрын
Hello, Robert. There weren't a lot of H3T's made. An internet source I read says under 5,700 were produced. It's a nice mid-sized pickup and we've been quite satisfied with its performance. It fits our needs to a T. Pun intended. It all depends on what you are looking for. We visited the Black Hills in July; returning the 1,000 miles home to Texas.
