Camping in a Blizzard - Jay Cooke State Park

On this episode I head to Jay Cooke State Park in Minnesota. I set up the hammock hot tent and do some cooking on the wood stove before battling the elements. I cross the iconic swinging bridge and hike the silver creek trail. I then capture the moment through the art of woodburning.

I was actually looking forward to the storm lol. For some reason I think it's fun battling the elements i guess. But the ice build up on the trees definitely ruined the party.

Thanks! I just back from Porcupine Mountains and that trip was cut short too. Freezing rain🥶

@UpNorth Adventures is that area somewhere you would recommend? I plan to do the 7 hr plane crash ride this year and that wouldnt be too far from that. I'm down near milwaukee.

What stove are you working with? I did replace the stove jack on the hammock hot tent because it was so wide - letting in the weather. - bean

It's the medium winnerwell nomad, and it's been great. But yea I need to do the same with the jack.

I was wondering how the park faired. Do you still maintain the Jersey Creek section of the NCT? Wondering how the little aspen there held up.

Well I haven't been back since, but if the park is like everything else around here I'm sure they'll have a lot of clean up. I still maintain that section of NCT so I'll be out there clearing it this weekend.
