An overnight camping trip in Sweden, on this trip I was accompanied by Gary, a subscriber (and now a friend). He came up with the awesome idea to build a toilet at the long-term camp, and that was exactly what he did. I helped out as much as possible but my arm is still broken after my previous trip. This was, however, a perfect opportunity to practice my left-hand skills in the bush, which turned out to be well needed. We will also cook some amazing food, make char cloth and enjoy the outdoors in the best way possible.
I haven't used the toilet yet and before I do I'll place a plastic bucket in it with a plastic bag so it will be easy to take care of the waste and to not contaminate the surroundings to much. It will be dog proof after the improvements we make next week which is great. It is a great add on and Gary did an amazing job.

If you leave your (paper) there the squirrels, chipmunks and other animals will tear apart to take back to their nest as bedding or tear it all apart on you- easier to bring what you need when you need it; always nice to have a good companion when camping or working

I won't leave anything behind, I'll use a bucket with plastic bags in the toilet before using it. Yes Gary is great guy and it's always a pleasure when he joins me on a trip.

Curious to know how the toilet functions with the water seeping in.To function properly and for the waste to break down without stinking,it should be dry.In the wood that i manage in Wales,there is a high water table so a longdrop toilet wasnt feasible,so i opted for a plastic barrel with a wooden frame and seat.Sawdust ,only a handful is sprinkled over the waste to aid composting.This has worked really well,and as it is only used for 4 days of each month, it has time to break down the nastys without the level getting too high.Just collect your streamwater upstream from the toilet site lol.Sorry to sound so sceptical dude.
@garyhardy2390
@garyhardy2390 2 жыл бұрын
I think the water seeping in was caused by snow melt, pretty sure it will be dry in the spring and summer.

Hello, Dom. Yeah I don't really know how it works, haven't used it yet, but the water level have stayed the same, it was 2 weeks since the build of it. My plans are to bring a 10L bucket with me and place in the toilet and have a plastic bag in it which is easy to replace when "full". I don't really want to use it for a long time and just let the water sit in it, but I'll talk about that in a future video. We also have a stream down hill where we take our water, (it's probably 50m away), and I don't want to contaminate that. If I would not place a bucket in it we would just have had to take out drinking water up stream. But I'm really happy with the outcome and if you don't have a bucket with you I'm sure it would be a nice working toilet for some time forward, and as Gary said, it will be dog proof with the improvements we'll make in the next video which is a big plus in my book 😁. Thank you, and it's always good to be sceptical. 👍

@@garyhardy2390 Cheers Gary,obviously its difficult for me to appraise the situation from a video,but that makes a lot of sense with the sloping topography.
