Camping Solo in Mount St. Helens | Hiking Coldwater Peak & More

July 13th and 14th I decided to head to Mount St. Helens for my first time.. Being 4 and a half hours away it's never been at the top of my list of places I wanted to adventure. But I saw the trail up to Coldwater Peak in a hiking group; wildflowers galore, all the mountain peaks in every direction you look, getting the all in one best views on this one trail. So I decided to go. And wow.. I can't believe I haven't been here sooner. This place is pure magic. Exploring on the Johnson Ridge Observatory side for two days solo was nothing short of perfect. Probably my favorite trip I've done yet.. So so special.
I camped at Kid Valley Campground (campsites are pretty far away from Johnson Ridge) and hiked Coldwater Peak trail, Coldwater Lake trail and the Loowit Trail.
