I got stuck in a wash in a two-wheel drive truck in Anza borrego desert many years ago. My girlfriend and I were freaking out cuz we couldn't get that truck out of that sand no matter how hard we tried. And then along came this guy in a lifted 4x4 truck. He backed the truck up to our truck, hooked up a strap, and yanked us out of the wash and then drove away. He never said one word. The guy was like The lone ranger.

Get the white one and paint it that reddish color of one of those stripes on the outside of your rig. OR get the white one and spray it with a marine grade polyurethane (less likely for dirt to stick).

No bugs but what about mice and pack rats? I've heard some out there will get em and then fight to get em out! Is that one of them old school rubber used tire door mats? Haven't seen one of those forever, heavy too, keep a tarp from blowing away. Have you tried an actual quality carabiner like one that would dangle you from the side of a cliff😮

I’ve never been to the desert, but from what I understand, washes are also where all the critters congregate because there is vegetation for them to hide in. I would think you’d have a higher risk of mouse infestation and the like if you camped in a wash.

I wonder if the black plastic door cover-thingy could be painted to match the outside, but keep it black on the inside. I've camped in washes in a tent. No way I would take an RV into a wash. Maybe a 4x4 van with a bit of a lift. But even then, the ground in the washes is very soft, powdery dirt and sand. You would have to go slow and careful.

Yeah folks, stay away from sleeping in washes or slot canyons in the desert. Even if the weather is clear where you are, a storm 20 miles away in the mountains could dump enough water to wash you away. Happens every year. I carry a recovery strap and shackles with me always just in case, actually had to use them to rescue a motorcycle last Spring that got stuck in foot deep mud.

Question: are you not able to consolidate from two to one collar on Echo? You do you, I just find it odd. Lol
@GotOutКүн бұрын
It’s a good question. Eko needs a very strong collar. And the one that I have decided on using does not have any reflectivity on it. So the second color is more brightly colored and also has a reflective stripe on it, which shows up great at night. But it’s not nearly strong enough to restrain him. The second collar also serves as a back up because it also has tags on it in case he gets lost. 🌲🐕🦺🐕🌵

I would never camp in a wash. Surprised BLM doesn't give that advice in their pamphlet. I was camping near a wash years ago and we woke up to what sounded like a jumbo jet approaching and as it got louder and louder we finally figured out it was a flash flood and the wall of water at the front was 12 feet high. We had no rain and no clouds. That storm was 60 miles away. That is a death wish to camp in a wash.

It could be beautiful and sunny there, but if it rains in the mountain it will fill fast. Never camp in a wash. My husband was a combat engineer. Saved a whole company, when he got on site and saw where they had troops camping. He told the captain , see that water line, move them out of there, captain argued with him, but finally moved them. That night, there was a flash flood. If the company had stayed where they were at, all lives would have died. And millions in equipment lost. Know your surroundings. Stay alert.
@SpaceForce201922 сағат бұрын
Camping in a wash is not smart at all. It can rain miles away and those washes become rivers. Last winter those were full during the rains. Always seek high ground. I replaced the slided in my screen door and the square plastic part with clear ones. So nice now I can see through them.
