Hey mahn love the videos ....I have a Citi Rox 1.6... branch exhaust and 272 cam ...I bought the car modified. It's mp9 with ffz box however It takes time to pass 180kmph.....reaching 189 is quick , it's just after that is a struggle...timing seems fine . I don't know Wats wrong seriously. Is this normal and wat do u advice Mr Late Late?

If I may add, in my knowledge and I've owned a CitiSport 1.4i, the mp9 is built for being quick of the line up to 3rd gear, you will feel 4th is a bit dead and 5th starts to pull at 3500rpm which is normal. It's a fairly high revving motor but not built for high top speed. 8v engines struggle with top end as for with 16v it is better suited. Note: mp9 engines makes use of a U-head (the intake and exhaust is on the same side) where as the ABF for instance is a cross-flow head which helps for better top end performance

In the previous comment I meant 180 and not 189....if you KZbin Citi Rox 1.6i top speed, you will find that video of a guy doing his run in the highway

You're welcome buddy. I've seen it too, sometimes they change the gear ratios to make them a bit longer too. Seen it a lot more on the 16v versions tho

It is normal is. Just note it is still a 8valve but a few tricks and mods, then u will be clock 200 fast fast

you better check your ingnition system and full system, if you have fuel and spark make sure to check all the marks in the timming belt. Good Luck

Gees, that cam was way out after the install. If that was a 16v the valves would've hit the pistons. Always try installing the cam as close as possible to its timing mark, then you won't have to turn the cam so much to get it on its timing mark. Also, guys must stop being cheap when modding their cars. The owner should've fitted a chip to get his fueling right for that 272 cam.

Herschel, we done our research on this cam and it was perfect for the car. Just the ecu didnt accommodate the cam. It is pointless to do a chip on a daily used car and the owner is very happy without the cam atm. Also note, It is not known as Cheap modifications because here at LateLateCustoms we do things the right way at a affordable rate. Don't judge, but if you read the Description of this Channel, you would've understand .

My comment referred to the owner not being happy with the fuel consumption. Who said you can't put a chip on a daily? I have a 2.0L 8v with a Dicktator management used as a daily. I just prefer to to have a car setup all round perfectly, so I rather spend the money. I'm in the process of fitting a crossflow head with ITB's & a 282 Estas billet cam. No expenses spared & it's a DIY project, always. 😉

Im busy with a caddy project bakkie, its got the 1. 4i mp9 set up std computer box, 272 cam with pulley bakkie drives well on hight revs, but if u drive normal on 2000rpm there is a hesitation, after 2000rpm then it opens up

Don't fit a cam, rather buy a other engine because it not worth spending your money modifying a 1.3

why didn't you show how to install the cam? that could be very tricky and you can break the bearing or the bearing tower. stupid video.
