I was not paying close enough attention to the installation instructions as I showed the cloth bag over the paper filter instead of the othe way around!

Everything we can do to stay safe is a bonus. This looks like a great system. Interested in a review in a couple months.

I have the 2 motor version. I believe the cloth goes over the motor’s first, then the paper bags and elastics. There are excellent videos on the cam vac from STOCKROOM SUPPLY on its power…cleaning the unit and changing the different filters. They also have upgraded NANOMAX filter cartridges that replace the cloth and paper filters for greater air volume. Super efficient and easy to clean.

Thanks for sharing. I have watched all of Ethan's videos. They are great. I reread the insturctions and you are correct. Clothe bag over the motor and then the paper filter.

I like how they designed the casters to fit within the diameter of the Camvac without adding much additional height to the unit. Looks like a good, compact, design.

It rolls very easily and does not present a trip hazard, for sure.

Very interesting Mike. My vacuum system is basically the same as your Harbour freight one except I replaced the 10 micron bag with a 1 micron pleated filter and a solid plastic bag that the fine dust falls into. I also have a 45 gallon drum with a centrifical top that catches all large debris. I find this system works very well.

I made a Thien pre separator I will talk about in a future video. I think I will be able to eliminate that.

Had mine, 2 motor, for a month. Fantastic. Mounted it on a cart along with a shop made acoustic box. Take old shop vac hoses, connect from air ports on top and run exhaust air through box, which exit onto floor. Dropped decibels from 85 to 74. No more ear plugs required. Highly recommend the extra effort.

So now we know. I have often wondered about the effectiveness of this simple looking drum. Surely a winning design, with its versatility, mobility and small footprint. Wish it were around when I commissioned my shop. Thanks Mike. Also so pleased to read about you in Woodturning magazine, and know you much better as a result. Bernard.

I have a 2 motor version and it performs very well. I find when fitting the lid and motors it pays to just align it to give good clearance to the entrance port. If one motor is too close to the port it can restrict the flow of large shavings.

@@keith6848 you can buy some off the shelf, the NanoMax CV Cartridge Filters from Stockroom or build your own. There are a couple videos on KZbin for upgrading your Camvac with some 3D printed additions, which is about a 10th of the cost.

Looks like a great system for dust collection. I have a King 2HP dust collector for my table saw, jointer and sander. BTW I noticed your writeup in the Latest Woodturning UK magazine. Now I know another famous person! Take care my friend Cheers and Best of the season to you and your family Harold

There must be a misprint on the TWS catalog page, they show the exact same performance for the two-motor dust collector as the three-motor dust collector (342 CFM @ 0.5 micron). Dust collection is about particle size and CFM (air volume moved) my Laguna 14" bandsaw manual states that 1,000 CFM is required for dust control. The challenge in most shops is having enough CFM Capacity. My dust collector is 900 CFM at 1.0 micron and is barely able to keep up as I have 8 connections to tools. Biggest challenges for dust collection are table saws, chop saws, and of course the lathe.

I have a cam vac on one side of my shop. I'm very happy with it. I have an Oneida supercell 3 motor system on the other side. They are about equal in performance except more than double the price, andI've had motor problems with the Oneida.. Oneida is good to work with and replaced the first motors quickly. I am using the cam vac on my lathes (great job on fines) a unisaw and a planer. my shop is 30' x 100' and my duct is 4" so neither will honestly pull that far. Adding the cam vac was less expensive and less work than increasing my duct size. You will be happy with it. Sorry I rambled.

The Camvac appears to be a very well mad system. A large variety of attachments. It will be interesting to hear your experiences with it after 6 months or so. I would be most interested in your opinion of ease of emptying the container and changing the filters. I assume the motors can be run in any combination. Do you find a combination you like best? Noise level. Does it change significantly with the number of motors running? Thank you for sharing. Have a great day and stay safe. 🙂🙂

I think inexperienced folks need to be aware that a “dust collector” and an “extractor” tend to be entirely different animals and have different strengths and use cases. Comparing things like the CamVac/shopvac (both of which tend to be low volume, high pressure) to a 4”+ dust collector (which tends to be high volume, low pressure) is a bit like comparing apples to oranges. They have different use cases and properties to match, so they will not perform the same way based on that alone. In the end, many people really need both.
