Watch giant armies battle. Can you predict the outcomes?
Round 1 ▶ 10 Lurkers vs 1000 SCVs
Round 2 ▶ 30 Ultralisks and 125 Heckbats vs 200 Zealots and 200 Roaches
Round 3 ▶ 50 Archons and 30 Carriers vs 300 Marines and 65 Liberators
Round 4 ▶ 300 Zerglings and 75 Marauders vs 150 Stalkers

This channel exists to document unit counters within StarCraft 2. Tya's Unit Tournament features epic battles between units in StarCraft 2, using music from the game's soundtrack. Units are chosen from Protoss, Terran and Zerg forces, or a coop commander such as Raynor, Nova, Artanis, or Kerrigan. Units will independently use their abilities, in a basic way. All units use Legacy of the Void stats, the same units you'd see in SC2 esports controlled by the likes of Serral, Maru, and ByuN. The resource beneath vespene is the unit's cost in the mod I run on the SC2 arcade, Direct Strike. Enjoy!

We should try this again but no upgrades. That could give the workers a chance to take down at least 1 Lurker

Would be interesting to see same unit composion of two+ unit types... but arrange them so they march in different order.

@@anonymeoui3248 depends on base dmg... with marines/low dmg units you would be right, but with Wrathwalker its a huge dmg boost.. marines get +1 dmg and wrathwalker like 10+ .. and armor is flat +1 so its 0 for marines and 9 for wrathwalker

It's because the interceptors weren't attacked. If they would have been, the carriers would have lost a lot more dps early.

I think the Lurker vs SCV fight was one of the only few fights where one side didn't have any losses (except Dehaka fights) in recent memory! Also, I am pretty sure that the Interceptor attack priority change is a buff against Marines. When the Marines target the main ship, they usually lose hard vs Carriers. They aren't tanky enough like Corruptors or BCs so they have to win by baiting out Interceptors and fighting those.

Should be noted, in this mode, interceptors are untargetable anyway. Otherwise it woukd also be a buff against libs, because liberator splash obliterates interceptors, not so much no mega clumped carriers.

I call them "Angy Balloons" for a reason. They pop really easily with some units. I didn't expect carriers to carry.

@@DamienDarkside with that many marines in the game the Archon's splash somehow really doesn't scale that well. But in actual 1v1 Archons are tanky AF.

@@DamienDarksidethe liberators and marines were shooting the carriers when they should have been shooting the interceptors. Liberators shred interceptors.

SCVs somehow did even worse than I thought. Funny thing is in canon they're like 15 foot tall power armor. Guess Lurker spikes are sharp. I voted against Hellbat as per usual but thought I was wrong when the Zealots evaporated. Incredibly even in the face of losing 200 of their initial force the Roaches managed to win, and it wasn't even by very slim margins.

For me, I like to think they are filled with servos and cheaper mechanical parts than "Military Armor". So they only have an inch or two of steel, and the insides are more for the function of drilling, and having the supported strength to carry massive amounts of crystals and gas canisters. Whereas the Marine Combat Armor is higher quality, thicker metals (probably they got tungsten or something going on) and hardened like our steel plates. I doubt a Marine can carry the same amount as an SCV funny enough. I like thinking too much about this at break at work.

2/4 today My predictions: - Lurkers (easy choice. I'm actually more surprised none of the lurkers died than anything) - Ultrabats (expected the zealots to drop quickly. The ultras would've done a large chunk of the heavy lifting and the bats just needed to clean up) - Marines (I didn't trust ai carrier micro or lack thereof) - Stalkers (I was very tempted to vote for the other side for a second then I remember it's stalkers)

Yeah I was surprised none died but thing about scvs is they get no upgrades to attack so vs 3 armor they were doing like 1 damage.

I'd be interested in seeing a comparison of the liberator carrier fight- One where the libs target the carriers like here, and one where their AI is changed so they target the interceptors first with the AOE.

Honestly, that probably would have been a huge win for the libs and marines, as they were always better gunning down the weak (and stacked) interceptors first, thus not really receiving any losses.

Unfortunately, no. In this mode interceptors are simply untargetable.

@@Santisima_Trinidad He could change the target priority back to 20 and then ensure that his ai doesn't auto attack the interceptors.

@@artemis_fowl44hd92 what? That isn't how target priority works? If its at 20, then the AI will attack the interceptors if they are the closest unit to them, no 2 ways about it. Unless its a unit which can't shoot up. Only way to make the unit's not attack the interceptors when something else is in range is the new patch, which reduces the target priority down to 19, 1 below every other unit in the game (unless it's a unit which can't shoot up against a flying one, in which case the target priority is always treated as lower than one which can shoot up), or, as is already the case, the interceptors are made untargetable. If the interceptors are targetable then protos loses super hard. The backline Mariens which currently can't shoot for quite a while would eviscerate the interceptors almost immediately, and then the carrier won't be able to do any significant damage for the rest of the fight, and thats assuming the Mariens don't shoot down the newly spawing interceptors.

@@Santisima_Trinidad Ok, I didn't phrase it perfectly. Also, accidentically wrote doesn't, instead of does. What I meant is that they increase the target priority of the interceptors, so that they get targeted first.

Yes, go face first into a Liberation Zone and walk towards the Liberator in a straight line, so you can stand next to it and attack it, what could go wrong?😍Rather hard to take these seriously.

The hellbat & ultralisk could have won if the hellbats went first, since they deal bonus damage to light units while ultralisks just do aoe. The marine & lib would have defeated the carriers with ease if they could target the interceptors. And the marauder & zergling could have won if marauders went first, or at least got in range the same moment with the zerglings. Zerglings are also much better against stalkers sho already blinked since then they are usually in the open in this mode.

2:20 - after the patch only problem. Before the latest patch, all the liberators destroyed interceptors and won.

Ok but what about 10 lurkers vs 5000 SCVs? You can just spawn in 1000 more each time it goes down to 500 SCVs so your computer doesn’t explode.

A this is direct strike, it not meant to be a super accurate representation of ladder fights, and B interceptors are just untargetable in this mode, so even with the new patch making them lower priority than carriers, it doesn't change this mode.
