I have been a biker since 1975 we have all have got to start somewhere, I always give the nod to any motorcyclist even to a rider on L plates.

I come form 18 years of kart racing, so I can tell you the lighter the machine the quicker it will get to it's top speed. I bought my first bike at 49, an XSR 125, probably the best 125cc on the market right now, certainly in the retro section and maybe even beyond. Vibrations isn't a word in it's vocabulary, the gearbox is silky smooth, the engine has variable valve control and the the torque allows one to ride lazily if so they feel, stick it in 4rth or 5th and forget it. 50mph is where it likes to cruise, 60mph it will hold easily if you find yourself on a very fast road and want to ride in style rather than hug the fuel tank, 73mph is as fast as it will go, true speeds all of these of course. For me probably the best all-around bike is a single cylinder 300, it has enough oomph so you don't get bullied on the highway and, like the 125, all the power you'd need anywhere else. Single cylinder because low weight is where it's always at, plus you get all the torque the capacity of the engine has to offer still. But there's not a single 300 on the market right now that's as stylish as this so I'm going to hold on to it I guess. Of course I have left any aspirations of sporty driving/riding behind me at this point, if you want power you have to go for power.

been learning on an aprilia rs125 (2022) and it's a great bike, a lot of fun and still riding even on full license. I'm tall and it has a big bike frame so gets mistaken for something bigger (until you start it and it sounds like a lawnmower lol) the only thing that's made me move to a bigger bike is hills. I'm in wales and 125s REALLY struggle with long inclines. If I'm going down an A road or a dual carraigeway and there's a long uphill i'll have to drop a gear and pin the throttle to even maintain speed, I'm not overweight and faily slim but it's just, not having that power is a real detriment to me there. overtaking is also a pain, when other bikers on bigger ones can fly past the tractors and lorries but you're stuck waiting for a mile straight with a slight downhill and empty road to see if you can full tuck and get past in time, just a bit of a pain. I think it very much depends on where you are and how you like to ride like you said.

I intend to do my das soon but fully intend to keep my 125 as I love it so much haha. Its cheap to run and so much fun on twisty roads. Yea I do sometimes wish i had more power but to have so much fun and not really breaking any laws is a win win in my mind

I'd really like it if you could make a comparison between the ninja 125 and other 125s on the market like the r 125 or the gsx-r 125

I have owned this bike for 3.5 years now. My review on it comes from where I am. Singapore. A really small country and I guess you can sort of transplant my take on it to your small cities or states wherever you live. Take note this bike costs almost SGD $17k new. Which equals to about USD12k. It is more than enough as a form of basic transportation. Reliable, fuel efficient and where lane splitting and filtering is the norm. It is an amazing motorcycle. Even with a pillion on. A little cramp for two but you'll get to where you're going way faster than on a car. As a motorcycle enthusiast, it is something that I keep as a reminder about the simple enjoyment of riding. No fancy stuff. Just chilling. It is however really fun to push on twisties and corners. It'll lean a little more than you'd expect. You can literally ride it with the throttle full on all the time. When I do get on my bigger bikes. I get a renewed perspective about speed. That 90% of the time I don't really need to be riding so fast past the speed legal limits. Let's be honest, all of us riders do that. The biggest win about riding is always that you make it to wherever you are or home safely.

I've thought about getting into bikes as a car owner but can't justify cost. Main issue is a lot of bike owners have it as a second leisure device, meaning they would only drive it on some good days. The system we have isn't setup to make that kind of ownership affordable or worthwhile. Insurance costs more than my car and then you have M.O.T and Road Tax costs combined with redoing the C.B.T. Basically not worthwhile if you are only using it 60 or so days a year. The added pressure on car ownership costs these days will make bike ownership as a second mode of transport very unpopular along with the added pressure of people just using e-bikes which don't have any of these hassles or expenses associated with them. Biker guys should probably push for some kind of change in legislation to make it affordable and more easier before they become extinct.

Ah the Honda CG125 made in Brazil... A travesty in the making.. My distaste for 125 stemmed from a Kawasaki 125 BN Eliminator which a friends son had and was absolute garbage when it came to hills et.. nice flat area re your ride.. bet it struggles on hills..? and I don't mean speed bumps.. 😗My girl did her CBT and then trained on 300+cc bike including taking her test et Her reward was a Honda CB500 from me 🌹Over 43 years I've ridden mostly over 500cc AND generally 750cc to 1300cc (Yes I do like Kawasaki. BUT my last bike was BMW) My first bike was a BSA Bantam hacked around the farm.. 👀On road the first for a year or so was an UNRESTRICTED 125cc TWO stroke (Italian) 'Barron' Motori engine that took a mix of petrol and oil.. et IT was an amazing bike.. noisy but it could do up to an easy 90mph no sweat... and yes I often did trips from Cornwall to Basingstoke / Southampton.. over 300+ miles AND single tank of fuel.. ! It was a big bike and NEVER ever struggled up HILLS! My mates had 'Fantics' with those crazzzzy handlebars.. #memories 👀

The only real downside is that these one cylinder engines go from sounding like a lawnmower (idle) to sounding like a chainsaw (redline)

I also had a Honda CB400N and my mate had the 250N ... the 250cc was a dog.. after he rode the 400cc he bought it off me in a flash.. The money went to my first Kawasaki 750GT shaft drive.... a real beast AND a BEAUTY.. one of the best bikes I ever owned... 👀👍
