Can you try out the Sun optics 2.5-20x scope? Its glass etched and fairly cheap. Sun optics makes their scopes same place as some of the Vortex scopes and same warranty basically. I think that many of the Vortex scopes are not as good as the hype, but the Sun optics for the money dont look bad. I know a local gunshop for fun stuck one of the sun optics, i think rimfire scope on 50 cal BMG bolt action, and they havent had it break yet. The fact they offer glass eteched reticles now is pretty nice. www.opticsplanet.com/sun-optics-1-2-5x20-bdc-5-eye-relief-shotgun-scope.html

For a real test, stick it on a high power* spring airgun. The recoil isn’t huge but the shock of the piston stopping at the end will bugger up a scope pretty quickly if it isn’t well built. I’m honestly not surprised by a wee rimfire scope surviving onboard a .50 BMG. It’s a heavy rifle so despite the huge energy release the acceleration might not be too high, and it’s acceleration that the scope will feel, not the overall recoil energy. If you can find a quick and dirty accelerometer you can get a better idea of this and I bet you’ll see higher figures from things like no.5 jungle carbines - big rounds in small guns. *yeah I know, it’s all relative 😆

A lot of these Chinese optics are operational grade since the only reason they market it as airsoft scope is because due to BS sanctions have led manufactures to market products they had plan to make for shooting sports to be labeled as a toy. Kinda along the same lines as why we can't buy anything norinco that's not already here.
@caseymoyes63096 жыл бұрын
Christos1680 After buying one of these from a Chinese wholesaler, it looks legit. The glass is incredibly clear and apparently coated with very nice anti-reflctive coating. It is built exactly replicating the trijicon acog. The only difference I've seen is that the aperture is a bit smaller, allowing less light transmission and no tritium. I haven't used it yet. We shall see if it'll survive rapid fire atop a .308 AR.

A good method of sighting of scopes is to take 2 shots with the same point of aim to ensure that the ammo is grouping well then have one person hold the firearm and hold the point of aim while another person moves the crosshairs to the point of impact. Seeing the direction you have to move the turrets make note for final adjustments.

The biggest issue with the clones is the light capture in the optic, bright/white background tends to wash out and "loose the dot" if yur in the shade and the dot size tends to be large for pin pointing at distance. Depends on the clone and all but just beware. If you can live with that then your good because they do have a rep for holding zero. Worth 75-100 bucks, for sure.

People like to bash airsoft gear because they think its cheap toy trash, but a lot of airsoft gear is of similar build quality of real steel counterparts, but cheaper due to the dramatic pricing differences of the markets. Gun owners are willing to drop 10x the amount of money on something than even a hardcore milsim airsoft player will. My Marine brother would ask me to send him shit from our local airsoft store because it was way cheaper to buy the same stuff from his local gun shop. (obviously this is reference to higher end airsoft gear, walmart crap is walmart crap) My airsoft plate carrier was half the cost on a traditional plate carrier and the only difference was the company who made them. Mine still holds real plates just fine, and after being dragged through sand, dirt, mud and gravel is still in decent shape. P.S. Airsoft doesnt always mean "cheap chinese clone". lots of american companies make high quality milsim spec airsoft scopes in the 200-300 dollar range. Aint nobody got money for an "authentic" acog

I buy a lot of stuff off of Amazon for my PCP habit (airguns, lol). I've tried lots of the accessories on my actual firearms and I've seen no difference. In fact, lots of the stuff that is marketed as airsoft and pellet gun accessories aren't even compatible with the airsoft/pellet rifles... At one time, there were "airsoft glock replica" switches on amazon that were quite obviously intended for converting over to full auto. I don't have an airsoft glock, but I'm pretty sure they don't have the type of sear/disconnect those were intended to manipulate. Also the scopes, there were lots of them labeled for airsoft/pellet rifles that were not designed to handle the recoil effect of most spring/piston operated pellet rifles, they were just plain, standard rifle scopes that would have been torn to pieces on a pellet rifle. As this is like 5 years later, you may have realized the same thing,. I just wanted to share what I've learned about these things. I am pretty sure the airsoft label means nothing, it is only there to bypass the restrictions of selling firearm components on these very liberal platforms. Sorry for the novel

I would have loved to see a comparison to the iron sights. also for the fiber optics you could put tape over the top to reduce the glare from the retical

For shits and giggles i got one for my AR and at 50yd i can hide 3 shots behind a dime... im impressed to say the least. However the eye relief is very short and intimidating to put on a 12ga. Im amazed you guys even hit the target being that far from the optic.

TAOFLEDERMAUS can u give us the exact make/model of the scope you used? far too many clones out there and we all need this one....lol
@BLACKFLAME49417 жыл бұрын
TAOFLEDERMAUS why these are holding up is because they are made for airsoft. Lots of running and banging the gun into something (accidently) or dropping it....they want them to hold up to that kind of things^^
@xenonram7 жыл бұрын
BLACKFLAME4941 You keep on saying that... Most cheap airsoft scopes suck. So just because it's made for airsoft, doesn't mean that it is inherently robust.

The difference between the real Acog and the chinesium acog? Consistently from unit to unit, it's a known, repeated quality from unit to unit. The comparison between the real deal and the knock off side by side is night and day. Good video Taofledermaus!

thanks!
@iota-097 жыл бұрын
well, it's like there's only clone, there's multiple clones, chinese and not, i guess the ones in 100-200 dollar range should be almost on par, given how trijicon is also a brand name so they may tend to inflate the price like apple does.
@frigglebiscuit74847 жыл бұрын
another difference is the fact that most americans arent going to spent $1k on a scope.....

The channels talking trash about these optics are probably pi***d off because they realized that they payed $1500 more for the real deal that maybe offers about $50 added value.
You can adjust brightness by putting tape over half of that clear tube on top

A scope the came with the rifle. I returned it once because I couldn't adjust the scope, then I got another one and the scope still sucks, so I guess I have to buy a different scope
@gabewright26907 жыл бұрын
The bad part is a $50 airgun scope will survive a break barrel airgun but some expensive $1500+ rifle scopes will not survive an airgun because the recoil on spring powered airguns have recoil in both directions but a standard firearm only really has recoil to the rear but there are several firearms that are scope killers.
@taofledermaus7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, those combo deals never work out well!
@LinkHyrule037 жыл бұрын
Yeah, air guns are notoriously harsh on scopes. You really have to spend decent money to get a scope from a good optics company that is specifically noted to be suitable for use on an air gun. The recoil impulse is completely different from that of a normal firearm.

I dont know if this is answered. Right should be to the side it is printed on like reading it. Most sights only put an arrow if it goes counter clock wise. All military weapons I delt with had arrows. Or left and right letters

For anyone looking to buy the "Acog" I own one and it's on my M&P ar15. We've put around 150-200 rounds through it and I've been able to stack rounds with it at 50 yards and id happily shoot it further. From reviews I've read, they very from scope to scope as far as quality but for the acog and red dot package I got, they seem to be a great scope for the $120 we put on it. I would recommend it for anyone not willing to put down the $1,200 for a real one.
