Interesting, I am a Christian and a Freemason. I am currently thinking of converting to Catholicism and have been attending RCIA. Freemasonry is not a religion and it has no doctrine. In fact on the alter in a Masonic Lodge lays a Holy Bible. We don't conduct religious sermons but in fact base Freemasonry on the building of King Solomons temple. In 2002 I believe, a female catholic historian at the vatican found documents clearing the Knights Templar of any wrong doing. This is where I believe the catholic church is against Freemasonry. It's not the organization as much as it was what took place back in the 1400’s. Burning of the head of Knights Templar. Also, some sad things happened to those that tortured this Knight. As he was being burned he informed them of what would take place and it did. I believe God had a hand in this, because the Templars were Christians. Study and you might find you could be mistaken. Father Paul. let me tell you about my blood "catholic" brothers and sisters. they are only catholic when it to their advantage like marriages and deaths. none should be allowed a catholic burial or to take communion . I was fortunate when I returned from CA to meet a Mason named Ed. Germer, through my computer school. I became a Mason. I was raised catholic and I moved all the way from the east coast to the west coast to get away from my family and to find employment, it's a really long story. When I moved to CA, I was invited to attend Church at a Four Square Church by Jan Reeves and they took me IN and gave me a bed to sleep in. when I first moved to CA, I had very little money and I was living at a campground in a tent and my car in Semi Valley CA. I lived 10 years in CA, I did not know but the woman I married is mentally ill. my kids were taken from me when I was at work. they got rules in CA about who can take in your kids, not Church members, not even the Pastor. With help from the members I got my kids back and the "social worker" threatened me she said they would be back to get the kids because I opted to honor my vowels, you know the "in sickness and in health". I left CA right after I got my kids back and returned home. We moved back in with my dad. he did not object to me taking my family, my two girls and myself to a Presbyterian Church, the now ex-wife did not go and she filed for divorce and I granted her one after my kids were off to college, she would not stay on medication. when I was 10 years old the next door attached building burned down to the ground and we were put up in a motel and given clothes and assistance by the same Church. My father never forgot. Well my dad died my blood catholic brothers and sisters came calling not to help me but to kick my family and myself out on the street. they had an alleged will and my name was not included. Brother Germer had me contact Brother Robert Detweiler, Esq and 4 years we battled it out in Court. When I first went to him he said we had 4 months then we would have to move out and I would lose housing and my kids and my job ( I was self employed at my computer school ). Mr. Detweiler, esq, did not charge me a penny, I did have to pay experts. It cost about $30,000 for the experts and instead of growing my business my money went to experts. In the end they were forced to sell me the building. Mr. Detweiler gave me $10,000 to go to closing on the property. Mr. Germer and Mr. Detweiler were true family not these catholic imposters. Tell the Pope my catholic brothers and sisters are evil and Mr. Germer and Mr. Detweiler are Godly.

I met a young man yesterday who expressed a desire to explore the Catholic Church. I directed him to the church I am affiliated with through my work. He then told me that he is a Freemason. I told him that Catholics are not permitted to be a Freemason. I also told him that he should still come and explore the church and learn more. I hope I was not in error. What is the doctrine of Freemasonry? I've heard this said on every video KZbin has regarding this topic, yet not a single one declares what that doctrine is. In that vein, how specifically is it a renunciation of the Catholic faith as well as denial of super-naturalism? Freemasonry is not a religion. It never has been and it never will be and to suggest that "at it's higher levels" it is "opposed to the family, the sacredness of human life, and above all the Holy Catholic Church" is an atrociously abhorrent statement to make and cannot be justified in any manner.

I have to agree. Besides. If all the members are sinners because the leadership is misguided and/or has bad intentions. The same can be applied to any denomination of Christianity to ever exist. All of these talk that freemasonry is bad because of the supposed "elite members" and how they somehow spread evil satanism to the ignorant lower ranks even if they all have their own beliefs that they have formed before joining (yes, including catholicism and christianity which most masons are) and makes them automatically not catholic is ridiculous. That’s because it isn’t primarily a dogmatic organization. Freemasonry is mostly an occult fraternity, which is to say that it’s just a group of men getting together mostly for socialization and uplifting one another, but bonded together by a strange and hard to describe philosophy and vision. While you can get a somewhat straightforward list of core beliefs and dogmas for most religions and philosophies, you have to understand that Freemasonry is not really a religion or philosophy, so you shouldn’t expect to get a nice neat list of what Freemasons teach and believe. It’s more like a social club actually. However, let me actually try to give you something like a list, although please understand that many Freemasons may not believe all of these things, especially the newer and younger ones. -Freemasons are Deists. This means that they believe that there is “one God/Source/Creator” that all religions teach. So they will say that Muslims worship the same God as Christians and Buddhists. It’s the idea that “we’re all worshiping the same God.” You have to profess faith in this “one Divinity” in order to be a Mason. -Another Deist belief is that God created the world but then stepped away. They believe that God is watching things that happen on Earth, but doesn’t interfere or care that much. -Masons put a large emphasis on human intellect/reason. They believe that most or even all problems on earth can be solved if people just got the right knowledge and learned enough. This is one of their missions… although it’s not as wholesome as it sounds. -They don’t believe in the supernatural or miracles. Again, there’s an emphasis on human intellect. Anything and everything has a rational explanation. -Typically, they will deny that Jesus is God. -Masons believe in actively shaping the world, but not through Freemasonry explicitly. I think this is what fuels much of the conspiracies around Masonry, and honestly they’re not all wrong. Freemasons will want their members to get in positions of power to make changes in society. For example, Freemasons had a large role to play in the French Revolution. And that’s not even a conspiracy or anything, that’s a known historical fact. Freemasons heavily encourage their members to influence and change society in these kind of indirect ways. Ok so that’s not a complete list obviously, and I didn’t even go over any of the ceremonies or rituals. But basically these are some basic philosophical principles behind Masonry. Most of these things are are against Church teachings, which is why you can’t really be a Mason and a Christian. If you try to be, you’ll either be denying parts of Freemasonry or parts of Christianity. You can’t serve two masters…

The fact, as you acknowledge, that you have enrolled in freemasonry -- thus having knowingly participated in its temple-oriented rituals -- should be a sufficient indication to you that you have transgressed against the First Commandment. Likewise, the published warnings of Popes and masons alike demonstrate that masonry is the avowed enemy of the Catholic Church. A Mason does not have to believe in the Christian God. He can believe in absolutely any divine being . Masons offer up prayer to and seek blessings from a syncretic God. I am not a Catholic and never will be as I am Reformed. I was however a Freemason at one time. Freemasonry does teach certain things that would be acceptable to Rome and others that would not be . One issue you might consider is how the Masonic Oaths if secrecy clash with Confession. It creates a major problem.
