Cyclist tip: always let 3-in-1 oil trickle into every cable casing, liberally. Reduces friction of the cable and less pressure on the nipple. Also keeps moisture out. 👍

I just found your channel. I love all of it. I worked on a dairy farm in New Hampshire and my Great grandparents came to the USA from Ireland. So this is a wonderfull mix of my love and pride of my Irish heritage and nostalgic memories of milking cows in rural New Hampshire. I appreciate the pride you take in your work and humane treatment of your animals. Very impressed.

if you want to stop rust, first bake the cable to remove the moisture nto too hot just enough to remove water, then find some flexible bathroom sealant and coat the cable in it, works great, cables last far longer. add some oil in the sheath before pushing cable back through lubes it as well.

Bought a new honda yard scraper last year. Was watching your video, dipped it for oil and to my surprise it looked off colour. I am going to turn the petrol off after use and keep an eye to it. The oil was only changed two months ago. The petrol might be getting in to the oil when not in use, That might be why the petrol on off tap is so noticeable. They are a very handy scraper.

Well Adrian. I wonder is the scraper fit for pushing in the silage. It would be under feck all pressure scraping the slats for u but the silage could be a fair ask for it. Did u ever think of making a silage pusher for the front of your quad. It would have heaps of power It could solve a few issues for you. Thanks for all the great videos through the year 👍

We don’t have scrapers like that in the states, that I’m aware of. I like the concept and your use though and think it will suit us. I’m keeping an eye out for a small used BCS tiller or walk behind mower to modify into a yard scraper.

I really like this scraper. For those that want to push heavier loads, I'm wondering if the track driven snow pushers wouldn't be a better option. They are essentially the same as the scraper, but a little larger and on tracks. It might not be very maneouverable in a tight space, but if you have the space and just want to push larger loads of silage, it might be an option. I have no idea how easy they would be to get in Ireland though. They are very common here in Japan, although not as common as the snow blower versions that are larger again.

The GCV engines normally have a fuel tape on the side by the airfilter. If it's auto choke it won't tho. Just put and inline fuel tap that'll negate the need to run it dry.

Same problem with the B&S motor on a ride on mower, gas overflows from the carb and makes it's way into the sump via the head if the solenoid valve is faulty, Solution is to remove and blank off the solenoid and turn the fuel line stop valve off and let engine run out of fuel to stop it when you have finished using it. Talking of ride on mowers would a snow plough blade fitted to the mower work as a back-up if your Honda scrapper breaks down again ?

I’ve 37 acres I’ve been leasing out for the last 5 years but I inherited my grandparents house and we are moving into it. Could you make a living with cattle on 37 acres??? The fuel in the oil is usually from the carb and the float hight being incorrect. It floods the combustion chamber and leaks by into the sump. Just my experience and someone else might have an idea but had it with a honda engine

Your petrol problem seems to be the needle valve in the carburettor not sealing and petrol float chamber over flowing down into the sump, common problem.
@IFarmWeFarm
@IFarmWeFarm 6 ай бұрын
Yes the needle would be the first thing to go for, on the first engine I replaced the needle then a few months later the entire carb, still made no difference! The fuel has to be making its way down into the crank case from the breeder pipe. The new engine is a slightly different model but still uses the very same carb. Honda dealership took it all apart and couldn’t solve it either. Will probably end up putting a B&S engine in it one day
@seamusgargan5567
@seamusgargan5567 6 ай бұрын
Just wondering where the breather pipe is located ,it's usually from the filter box to the crank where there should be no petrol .Have done several of them where petrol was leaking down into the sump and it only takes a little debris on the needle seat to cause the leak , so a shut off valve is another option.

Just a thought, if the cable diameter is around 1.5mm, then standard cycle brake cable inners and outers could work - you can get these in lengths of unto around 3 mtrs and then come with a fixed end, so the terminal block wouldn't be needed - love the videos by the way 😀😀
