Can a CHIPPER Really Help My Short Game? // Odyssey X-Act 2023 Review

One thing I've learned over 45 years of playing golf is to take your ego out of it & USE WHAT WORKS!! I was one of the first people I knew to carry a 7 wood. I've had one in my bag for 40 years. I also have a chipper in my bag. I was never good chipping with a 7 or 8 iron, but I'm pretty deadly with the chipper & it's much harder to chunk.

I’ve had a Dunlop Chipper for 9 years. I bought it from Sports Direct from the bargain bin for £25. I use it for every chip shot and 50 yard pitch shots. The Odyssey is very similar in design and very reliable. I would recommend a chipper for your bag whoever you are.

I have this chipper, which I use from time to time. Easy to use but it's not so easy to judge distances. Can be used up to 50 yards. Worth having.

Yeah I know what you mean with distances but I would say use more frequently and this club is a handicap slicer lol hope your getting out more than we are atm 👍🏻

Just got myself a ping chipr, early days but certainly feel more confident with that then chipping with a wedge. The extra weight in the head makes a big difference.

Me too. Just got the ping chipr. But have not got to use it yet. But I had one years ago. And they work well.

I'm a chipper user for 3 years now... Right now i have the cleveland smartsole4 in my bag. Before i bought that club, i usually score 120to130 per round due to chunks, thin and shanks 50 yards in.. By buying a chipper it reduced me to 100to105... When i learned how to use it properly up to 100 yard pitch shot, it helped me score 80to85... I made my chipper a pitching wedge replacement since the cleveland smartsole4 has a 42 degree loft

I just bought one that can used by righties and lefties. I am left-handed but swing right and putt left. It will also come in handy next to a tree or bush where I don't have a swing. I am hopeful.

Most of us have trouble with the low point of our swing. If I am just off the green in two I find a chipper stops the yips. I can concentrate on the line and distance. My worst chipper shot is better than my worst shot with any other club.

I used a chipper years ago. They do work well, for the average golfer. Will lower you by at least 2 strokes average.

I have a very old chipper, unbranded, and I like it a lot. It has horizontal grooves and can even spin the ball a little. I use it 50 yards and in. But I struggle to get it any farther than that consistently. Would you recommend upgrading to the odyssey? Would it potentially spin more than an old unbranded one considering the odyssey face? Would the odyssey insert allow it to be hotter, maybe making it easier to go longer with it, potentially? Would a new Amazon chipper from say, Mazel, perform just as well for less money? Unfortunately there is no opportunity to try them. So I'm trying to have some info before I spend over $100 Thanks!

I have a chipper and it is not meant for longer shots unless you are playing links courses. It is best used around the greens.If you miss greens often it will get plenty of use.

No it isnt when you chip with irons close to the green your already basically using your putting stroke. Or you should be. Its not going backwards. Not at all. The only issue would be how many clubs in your bag.

Why? It has lowered my scores. I tossed the 3 wood and gapper. NO digging in on short chips. Butta Baby!!
