@KH-hc6sy I am not surprised. I suggest you seek guidance from the Lord and/or your pastor if you have one. I personally suggest that you do not go through with marriage as the scripture forbids it. Do you have a child already with him? If so that is quite the pickle you're in. I have a sister who is in a similar situation it seems to you guys.

In my Christian tradition (Catholicism), you can have an interfaith marriage, but it may cause problems, as you still make a promise to raise your kids Catholic.

It's an effective way to slowly convert a population. One of the ways Christianity spread so rapidly in Europe was through interfaith marriages, especially among the ruling families. Have a pagan king marry a Christian noblewoman and don't expect him to convert but require him to have his children baptized and educated in the Church and all the future kings of that line will be as Catholic as Constantine. Once the king is Christian, the population is more likely to convert en masse.

@@nonameronin1 Do you have any idea at all of how Christianity spread in Europe? It was almost entirely by the sword. First the Romans professed it as the empire religion under Theodosius not as most Christians mistakenly believe Constantine. Then the Roman Catholic Church launched a series of pogroms against other religions including the murder of prominent members of Greek Philosophical schools. When the various regions of Rome gained independence the Christians states waged war against pagans and either wiped them out or converted them. Some Pagan Kings such as Vladimir the Great chose to adopt Christianity for political reasons then at the point of a sword forced his people to convert or die. Its very complicated but in essence it was a strategic decision not a religious one. Paganism was still being practiced in Europe especially Northern Europe right up to the 14th Century when first the Scandinavians then the Russian forced the remaining pagans (Mostly Norse Gods) to convert or loose their land and lives. The idea that Christianity spread by faith and kindness is the nonsense your taught at school. Anyone who bothers to read history knows different. If you really want to learn the truth, according to the view of many historians, the Constantinian shift (look it up) turned Christianity from a persecuted into a persecuting religion. A good start would be to read The Dark Side of Christian History - Helen Ellerbe. I dont agree 100% with her interpretation of history as she does tend to see the world through feminism but at least its accurate and was very well received by historians. Its simple and short and designed to lead you to more extensive reading. But I fear your not interested in challenging your religion and that makes it a cult not a religious calling. I was brought up a Christian by ordinary Christian Parents not over the top or closet atheists just good people who wanted me to go to Sunday school (I did until they kicked me out for asking too many questions never a good look for Christians when they kick you out for questions) and occasionally attend church. I finally gave up on it at 12 when I realised what a load of nonsense it was after moving to Malta and realising Catholicism is borderline evil. I have been an Atheist ever since and I have never been scared to challenge my world view. When I met a Muslim lady I persuaded her to challenge her upbringing and she happily realised it really was nonsense, although she is still spiritual and that's ok because she doesn't require others to believe her worldview as its a personal worldview. Problem with ALL Christians and Muslims is they want everyone to obey their god or in many cases die in great pain. Read that book the author doesn't challenge your God or Jesus she simply challenges the idea that Christians were persecuted and were peace loving hippies who are misunderstood.

If you are a true Christian who practices Christianity and who cares enough about ensuring your kids are raised based on your faith then you would not have married someone out of your faith. Don't make any definitive statement here, though. In the literal interpretation, of course a donkey can't pull with an ox: donkeys are smaller and weaker, so obviously the furrow would be crooked. But two people of different faith traditions don't have to differ in like manner. For example, I'm a Pantheist, and I'm GOING to marry a non-Pantheist, because, really, how many Pantheists do you know? Heck, the guy I've had my eye on literally for years is Catholic, and I left the Catholic church out of respect for my own morals. I've never asked him if he's practicing, though, or just culturally Catholic. It worked out between my father's parents: Nonno (I'm Italian on dad's dad's side) was Catholic and Oma (I'm Dutch on his mom's side) was Christian Reform, so a Calvinist, but she wanted the kids raised Catholic because she wasn't so into Calvinism. I don't blame her: I've researched it, and...leaving this as respectfully as possible, but it's not my style. If I were still any brand of Christian, I'd be United Church of Christ...because I only fairly recently found out that Unitarian Universalists are not necessarily Christian. I thought they were, but nope.
