The funniest part, to me, about rewatching all this episodes is Jamie is not as grumpy as I remembered him to be.

He's not grumpy, just sort of stoic/monotone in a stark contrast to Adam. It's an interesting dynamic, Adam has talked about his ADHD and Jamie shows a lot of traits that suggest he maybe an undiagnosed ASD (as I was not all that long ago) It certainly explains how they have such a good working chemistry whilst being such different personalities (double empath problem) Of course that's just a personal theory.

Norally, a blind person at least has thier cane to feel thier path ahead of them. for say a side talk you feel the vibraton the cane hitting grass or the dip of the edge the side walk. I aim on a perfectly smooth surface you might end up turned around. I'm legally blind not toally but the cane and ball tip might acutally prvent the whoel losing a sense of where you are

@36:13 Although I've 'known' this true since childhood, I can absolutely confirm this. Although in no peril, and more of an eye roll .. a few years ago I was on my property and my flashlight died on a cloudy night with no stars about 800 feet into the bush., and maybe a 1000 from the house. Knowing my land I figured I'd trek until I hit either the fence (south) or the pond edge (north or east), either which I could then follow. Turns out - no pun intended - that I had turned nearly 180 degrees in just a few hundred feet. Totally "lost" within yelling range, proven by that continuing to trek blindly, I finally found (stumbled upon) high enough ground to see the house lights which were unexpectedly on the "wrong" side. Now again, in this case no big deal .. no panic .. I'm used to the bush, not afraid of the dark, and at worst would have been grumpy without enough smokes to make morning, but technically what I did was the wrong thing. If you're lost STAY PUT until you can navigate.

The main reason a bullet sets off tannerite but a car crash doesn’t is even though the energy involved is greater, it needs to be focused to a single point in order to start the chemical reaction.

So mix up the Tannerite and leave it some weeks in the trunk ! THAN it will go of ! Humidity does the trick (Its even written on the package) "USE FRESHLY MIXED ONLY"
@nicholascrow8133
@nicholascrow8133 3 ай бұрын
Humidity would decrease the reactivity of AN. On the Tannerite website they state that the mixed product is stable, it's only for legal reasons you cannot store/transport it A quick google search brings up a lot of people talking about how mixed tannerite ended up clumping due to humidity and consequently didn't work.

@nicholascrow8133
@nicholascrow8133 3 ай бұрын
@@TomKappeln I didn't say anything about mixing wet product either. Ammonium nitrate when mixed with water produces an endothermic reaction (the mixed product isn't a new chemical until reacted, just the two powders suspended together), aluminium powder is an ingredient in tanneries and flash powder, it is not explosive on its own. Humidity would also degrade the aluminium powder, reducing reactivity. This is why it's reccomended to store away from humidity, not for fear of increased reactivity, but a reduction.

On the Fender Bender myth: The one element they didn't test for was heat. In a real fender bender both cars have running engines, and when the containers of the explosives shatter in the collision a spark or the heat from the engine might set them off. My guess is that this is why it did explode when fired upon with a bullet: a bullet when fired gets really hot.
@minoxknoctis5851

@@minoxknoctis5851I didn't forget that: The car hitting from behind has a hot running engine which plows into the explosives, the car getting hit has a hot running engine which makes the exhaust of the car hot. My theory is: explosives + any heat source = BOOM.

Hey, first time that weight dropped, in slow mode you SEE where the energy left the building. That was not exactly an anvil, that wood acted like an airbag. Crack crack crack, and the explosive moved down like it was laying on a boxspring bed. Then you can hit it the explosive like crazy and you damage the bed. Exit all energy. Duh!

7:45 Somehow on the map they show that Jamie crosses the road, while Adam stopped him before the fence. 17:10 Lookind at high-speed footage I am not sure all of the cans exploded. At 17:19 there are sprays of grayish powder that looks like initial mixture. 43:50 Impossible not to laugh :D P.S. I recall reading somewhere (it was some novel though, not a scientific article) that you can't keep a straight line while walking because the steps are uneven. There it was said that supposedly step with left foot is shorter, so this makes you go circles to the left and you have to compensate by turning slightly to the right once in a while. Of course to make a slight turn to the right you need to see what you do. It is something to keep in mind when you walk through the forest. While you can see, it is rather hard to keep direction (unless you can see the sun or stars, something as reference point). I don't think though that results from Mythbusters agree with this hypothesis, it looks rather like random process.
@grischad20
@grischad20 Ай бұрын
Everyone has slight asymetry to their body and i'm sure that would impact things, but really even a slight unevenness of the ground could make some steps shorter than the other one. They should've tried on a level ground floor, like a parking lot or smt.

pretty sure the blind/straight-line myth is anatomical. Jamie veered consistently to the right. If you look at his shoulders, his right shoulder sits a bit lower than his left. This is probably due to muscle or skeletal imbalance in the lower body. His entire left side was pretty "stiff" while his right was more mobile. imagine walking with your left leg in a cast (no mobility in the knee) it would be way easier to pivot on the right and swing the left leg over (landing just a little bit more across midline towards the right with each step) and you'll end up drifting to the right ever so slightly even without blindfolds.

I was going to say who in their right mind would store a loaded gun with the mixed AN compound, but I guess if someone figures it's okay to store the mixed compound, they probably aren't too good on gun safety either... But would a crash trigger the gun to fire?
@d4slaimless
@d4slaimless 2 ай бұрын
@@nicholascrow8133There was a myth when they tried to trigger a gun by load sounds. Can't recall if they tried to really shake it. The gun could probably fire upon impact, if something hits the trigger. But gun should probably be on safety. So the only possible way is cartridge getting hit by the peen, but I don't think it would move.

10:36 Not even a handgun or small caliber rifle are supposed to set it off. So maybe if you transport a loaded, unlocked, high power rifle pointed straight at a pre-mixed explosive, it could work. That test is mainly about two things: Balance and short-term memory (being able to remember and follow instructions). If you veer to one side, but do everything else correctly, you've "passed" the test On a side note, roadside sobriety tests (RSTs) have an accuracy rate of around 70%, which is okay, but not great. Other Data: -Breathalyzers can be anywhere between 50-90% accurate depending on the make/model. - Urine tests are around 80-85% accurate. - Blood tests have an accuracy of about 95-97% (Theoretically 99.5%, but in practice lower due to human error during testing and/or analysis.) - Blood and Breathalyzer used in combination with each other has an estimated accuracy of 99.8% ±0.1%. Good luck trying to appeal that one.

Unless gasoline ignites it shouldn't impact the results. But even if it ignites wiki says that tannerite (if it is the one that they use) designed to be non-flammable. The reaction cannot be triggered by a burning fuse or electricity. I didn't find references to prolonged exposure to heat though. It won't detonate I think, but there going to be some reaction for sure.

No mechanic is perfect, leaving alone human bodies. So to go in a straight line, you will have to compensate for imperfections along the way but you cannot do that if you don't know how much you are off and in what direction. See, not even a simple car engine can work consistently, it always required correction mechanisms to just keep going (mechanical in the past, electrical ones today) where feedback from the engine serves as input to the engine control that will then balance imperfections (like adding more/less fuel, adding more/less air, igniting/injecting the fuel earlier/later) and that basically all the time the engine is running.
