The adventure begins by flying into New Orleans picking up a Royal Enfield Classic 350cc motorcycle and riding to the southernmost point of Louisiana. Eventually making my way back home near Atlanta, Georgia.

Great stuff mate . Had my Red and Chrome for 2 years Has never missed a beat. Yup not fast but as I hate boring motorway/ interstate riding, 60mph lazy cruising is perfect for me . Easiest non CVT bike on the market to ride. With more character and soul than nearly anything on two wheels. Maintenance is an absolute pleasure on this smooth two valve single lunger. Happy rides my friend Lee the Limey 👍

You can be lazy on a 650, but if you need to climb steep mountain passes with a 350 its much harder. I am more comfortable at 50 to 60MPH but I bought a 650 so if I want I can keep up with the harleys.

Thanks for watching and commenting, the trip was a lot a great adventure. People ask me if it was "fun," I don't think it was fun, but it was adventurous, memorable, and I enjoyed it - but in the moment it wasn't fun - I had a lot of fear, I got soaked and cold, and made a lot of mistakes

Great adventure you had there, nice! I have the '22 RE350 in the same Halcyon Grey - I say it is powder blue in person - really stands out with the brown seat and accents. The power really picks up (for what it is) at about 1,200-1,500 miles I found, as the engine wears in and opens up. I like the seat, but I bought the comfort seat and wow, you can ride forever! Hitchcocks in the UK is a place to get lots of accessories. Safe riding and enjoy your new machine! Ronny in Canada.

One of the best looking bikes around. I wish they put the motor from the original continental 535 into that frame. 29hp sure would make this bike more capable on U.S. highways, especially out west where 75mph roads are plentiful.
@MotoSoup
@MotoSoup Жыл бұрын
It could use 10 more HP for sure, I had to plan my route to avoid faster roads, but it's doable. This is not a bike for everyone, but if you don't mind planning your routes and taking your time it's a fun and capable machine. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I have the Bullet 500 and have been riding it for about 6 months. Every Sunday I meet fellow motorcyclists but Unfortunately our regular meeting place is via 80 miles of mostly freeway (SF Bay area). At first I was reluctant to push it more than about 65 mph or 4000 rpm, but was drifting behind traffic, even in the slow lane, which I thought a little unsafe. Then I found the courage to push it up to 70 (4500rpm) and it just keeps me in the flow. To my surprise the bike seems happy there purring along with very little vibration.

Your title caught my eye, I used to live in the Atlanta area up to 2021 when I left the US. I had a 350 Reborn in Thailand, the Halcyon Green, and I can speak from experience you can ride in water up to the wheel hubs, no problem. I did a trip similar to yours this July, I flew from Guadalajara to Iowa and bought a 2023 Himalayan from Baxter Cycle in Marne, Iowa, and rode it to Oaxaca, Mexico, a 4,000 mile trip. If someone is wanting to buy from an honest dealer, Baxter Cycle is the place, super friendly, no doc fees, great service, AND, my tank was full when I took delivery. A buyer can fly in to Des Moines, and they will pick you up, or, if you want, they will ship to you with one of their trusted carriers. Like you I hung around and put miles on to get my first service, except I camped, there are several great places near Baxter's, including the park across the street from the shop, the locals don't mind one bit. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of your series and maybe watching you ride in North Georgia, I miss those mountains! (Especially Cavender Creek Road)

I haven`t read all the other comments, so apologies if I am repeating what somebody may have already mentioned... I rode my Classic home 120 miles, from the dealer, here in the UK and I hated the shifter. I adjusted it the following morning but still not great, so I ordered a heel/toe shifter and it transformed the whole riding experience. You can change up and down without having to hook your toe under the shifter. I quickly got used to using my heel to change up and I can jump off that bike onto my other bike and not even give it a thought.
@MotoSoup

I've seen people make that swap, the first several miles I had a hard time with the shifter placement, but I guess I've gotten used to it, I don't even think about it anymore. Thanks for the comment.

That baby blue is such a gorgeous bike .... Would need a bit more power though ... If they ever launch a Classic with the 650cc engine it would be a tough choice between that and the Interceptor....

For me it came down to the riding position, I had Bonneville T100 before this, but an injury to my left leg was making it hard to ride, I just needed the pages a little more forward and the classic sits just right for me. The 350 is a bit weak, but it's a great bike.

Was the bike fully "broken in" before you left New Orleans for Atlanta?
@MotoSoup
@MotoSoup Жыл бұрын
It was, as soon as I picked up the bike I put 200 miles on it. The next day, I did another 100 and then did the service in Mississippi at a friend's house. So, when I left for Atlanta I had done the oil change and valve adjustment, checked the chain - cleaned and lubed.

I`m not sure yet if you`re taking 90 or what. If I go to Bama Bike Fest I`m thinking of taking hwy 11 which parallels I-59 in MS. Of course my bike is broken in and is 805cc. (I like side roads and I`m retired ;- )

Hey thanks for watching, from Picayune MS I took US-11 to 26; 26 to 63, back roads to 17 to 20 to 43 Picked up 5 just north of Thomasville to 22 and followed that through Selma up to Alexander City where I stopped for the night. I basically just plugged in a few stops in Google maps and then selected in the options to avoid highways and tolls

Not to sound harsh, I'd rather listen to your thoughts as you're navigating the ride, or just listen to the motor and your silence as you soak up the experience. Otherwise, I loved your video. I ran across a group of 3 Harley riders, all trikes, at one of the gas stops but I didn't have my camera rolling. Other than that I didn't see a single Harley the whole trip, of course, most of them would likely be on roads with higher speed limits.

He Stevo, sorry about that... I am new to all of this and made mistakes, I am learning and wish I had done things differently with that trip, but I can't change what I did back then. In the original raw footage, I had a mic running into my helmet, and couldn't hear the sound of the engine much at all, but you could hear a lot of Darth Vader breathing. So I decided to use music. Sorry it's not your taste, but I have newer videos and have learned how to capture the engine sound.
