Feller and Bloxham Hair Transplants

5 ай бұрын

One of the most common questions Dr Blake Bloxham of Feller & Bloxham Medical, PC (www.fellermedical.com) is asked during consultations is: Can I lower my hairline with hair transplant surgery? And while this question may seem simple, it's actually a very good and complex question for patients to ask and understand. When I patient asks if they can lower their hairline, they likely do not mean it literally. All patients are likely aware that a line can be drawn below their current hairline and grafts can be implanted into this area. However, what patients actually want to know when they ask this question is whether or not it's possible to lower the hairline in a dense, natural manner, and if it's possible to do it in one pass. The answer to this question, is still: Yes! However, the hairline lowering must be approached in a specific way to give the patient the best chance at really lowering the hairline in a convincing manner.
To demonstrate this point, Dr Bloxham shares the example of a patient in his mid-20's with minimal and isolated frontal loss. He never liked the height and shape of his hairline, but some slight frontal recession made things even worse. So, he decided he wanted to lower his hairline with hair transplants. However, his surrounding hair was very thick and there was no way to create a convincing lower hairline without great density and artistic, natural hairline design in the front. The patient also was hoping this could be done in one pass.
So, did it work? Was he actually able to lower his hairline in this scenario with hair transplants? Watch the video to find out!

Hey man. How long is the waiting line? :D I would like to get a HT as soon as possible but I'm afraid with Feller and Bloxham it would be 1+ years

Wow!!! Great work, looks natural. I'm 52 and my hairline is similar than what this man had, maybe a little more or less recessed but it's not bad. Thankfully at my age I still a Norwood 2ish. I wouldn't mind my hairline lowered just a few centimeters, nothing drastic. Just enough to get me by through my 50's and 60's. Not that I anticipate any more hair loss. If my dad is a solid Norwood 2 & 1/2 - 2 & 3/4 no hair loss on the back of his head. Also no history of hair loss on my mom's side. The most I've seen in my family on both sides are Norwood 2-3 at the most.

What about not only fixing the main hairline but also the temple region and extending hair coverage along with thicking it

Was this patient stable on medication? Your result is so good, but I would be afraid that I’d have future loss behind the transplanted area. I feel like lowering his hairline like this sets him up for so so many potential catch up surgeries in the future.

Yeah exactly what i tought. Very risky move to get a hairline this low at that young age. Maybe just make the existing hairline more dense, but having it this low is just gonna be a huge problem in your 50ies even with Finasterid. I'm still loosing ground every year with 1mg Fin.

This is literally all I want, I have very minor recession, I think I would need 500 grafts max, but no where offers just 500

Yeah that's kind of where I'm at aswell. My corners went up a bit, started fin, central density came back but corners came back around 75%. I just want them lowered just a bit, lilke 250-300 grafts each side, but the 3 clinics that I've consulted with said no lmao

Good work doc but why you never discuss the use of DHT blockers in these cases? Its seems like you intentionally leave that part out every time you review a case.

Do you have to shave all the hair off before you do the transplant?
@Milofchg
@Milofchg 5 ай бұрын
From what I know it depends on the procedure. FUE yes more likely, FUT not really needed but depends on what the doctor needs to transplant. Something like his patient no need because it's not a major transplant (but they do charge you more if you don't shave it off). The older you are with minimal hair loss and solid donor area, and the right hair type. The better more natural it will look. Sometimes the goal of a transplant is to give you a hairline that suits your age & face but make it look like you are not losing hair. Think of it as a reset on your head. It's best to be realistic and know what you can work with at a current stage in hair loss or age. Also to guess/know/prevent possible future hair loss a patient might or might not go through after the procedure.

To give the doctor optimal sight when implanting the harvested hair it's appropriate to take the hair as short as possible.
@Islanders83
@Islanders83 5 ай бұрын
No you don’t have to. They will shave a thin line in the donor area on the back of your head to the length they need. They will also shave your hairline area about 1/2 inch or so so they can integrate the donor hairs to make a more dense hairline.

Great result but you gonna regret it in 20 years big time😮😮😮 unless you take Dutasterid isstead of Fin. Cause maintaining that hairline is gonna require the strong sauce.

To be honest his hairline looked better before the procedure. He had a great hairline before. As a doctor you should know that hairline will not look age appropriate in 20 years. You as a doctor should had talked him out of it. This upsets me about doctors doing unnecessary operations. There are times a doctor has to tell a patient no and refuse to do the operation. This operation really concerned me. You could use the old hairline as the base hairline if he ever became thin. This reminds me of doctors making lips on a woman look bigger when they looked great before the operation. Just because a patient wants something a doctor should not always do an operation.

We can find poor results from your surgeries on forums online (last one is being repaired by Bisanga, the patient just posted it, and had to punch out hundreds of chunky and misangled grafts), and then more than decent results are shown in your videos. Why does this happen? Why does this huge heterogeneity of results occur? PD: Imagine how sad is removing comments from random people on the internet being more honest than a "doctor". Sadly being unethical and mediocre is considered ok in this industry.

No, the one I just mentioned was a norwood 2 with more than realistic expectations, who now has a wide scar, damaged skin and a unnatural result due to the poor surgery performed by this doctor, just check hair restoration network@@Islanders83

Ups, my answer disappeared. The guy I mentioned is a norwoord 2, who is left with a wide scar, damaged skin and an unnatural result due to the poor performed surgery by this doctor. Now, in order to repair, Bisanga has to puch out hunders of grafts and in the future, after another removal session, implant a natural and refined hairline. You can check forums online with patient actual reviews for a more comprehensive view @@Islanders83

I remember seeing a poor result from this guy who posted in a forum but I always wondered if there were external factors he didn't mention? More specifically, how was the aftercare? In my first transplant, I remember my doctor telling me that one of his patients scratched off a bunch of grafts a few days after the procedure. I myself got my second transplant from Bloxham almost 2 months ago and honestly, I think the man and his team do some good work. Only time will tell for my results though

@@kevinnorris6558 I got mine done from Bloxham a year ago. It looks great. I’m not on any meds. I’m 41. My scar looks pretty good. Easy to hide bc I keep my hair length at least a 2 on the electric razor.
