@@MahinJabi Abu Qatada al-Ansari (Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) was asked about his fasting. The Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) felt annoyed. Thereupon 'Umar (Allah be pleased with him) said: We are pleased with Allah as the Lord, with Islam as our Code of Life, with Muhammad as the Messenger and with our pledge (to you for willing and cheerful submission) as a (sacred) commitment. He was then asked about perpetual fasting, whereupon he said: He neither fasted nor did he break it, or he did not fast and he did not break it. He was then asked about fasting for two days and breaking one day. He (the Holy Prophet) said: And who has strength enough to do it? He was asked about fasting for a day and breaking for two days, whereupon he said: May Allah bestow upon us strength to do it. He was then asked about fasting for a day and breaking on the other, whereupon he said: That is the fasting of my brother David (peace be upon him). He was then asked about fasting on Monday, whereupon he said: It was the day on which I was born. on which I was commissioned with prophethood or revelation was sent to me, (and he further) said: Three days' fasting every month and of the whole of Ramadan every year is a perpetual fast. He was asked about fasting on the day of 'Arafa (9th of Dhu'I-Hijja), whereupon he said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year and the coming year. He was asked about fasting on the day of 'Ashura (10th of Muharram), whereupon be said: It expiates the sins of the preceding year. (Imam Muslim said that in this hadith there is a) narration of Imam Shu'ba that he was asked about fasting on Monday and Thursday, but we (Imam Muslim) did not mention Thursday for we found it as an error (in reporting).

@@zack95so just make it a point to do nothing on your birthday? Isn't that an acknowledgment of its own? No where does it specify in Islam to not acknowledge the day someone was born. Like wearing green shirt. If some pagans somewhere wore green shirts should I suddenly change my direction, dodging all things pagans did just to make a point of not being pagan? It's not my problem if someone's opinion of me is negative upon acknowledging my kids' birthdays. I'm not arrogant to have to make it a point to make sure I have every detail of pagan history studied and then make sure I do the opposite just to show ppl I'm not pagan.

Walaikum As-Salam warahmatullahi wabarakatuh, sorry I think the actions your describing are bidah please look it up I don't mean this in a rude way, but why did the sahabah and prophet and tabieen nor celebrate we can't claim to follow better islam then them or even make up our own practices. Jabir ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would praise Allah in his sermon, as He deserves to be praised, and then he would say, “Whomever Allah guides, no one can lead him astray. Whomever Allah sends astray, no one can guide him. The truest word is the Book of Allah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad. The evilest matters in religion are those that are newly invented, for every newly invented matter is an innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Hellfire.” Source: Sunan al-Nasā’ī 1578 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani Please study this in more detail and let shaitan not deceive as he loves todo may Allah protect us and guide us🩷

There is nothing wrong with celebrating your birthday if you do it in a halal way. Having a nice meal with your immediate loved ones and a nice dessert. Saying alhamdulillah for another year spent with your family. For being grateful to Allah our creator and to our mother's for going through the trials of labour to have us. @Wildlifewild1 well if we aren't blowing out candles, we aren't singing and dancing and having a party. Or going anywhere haram for that matter. Just a really nice meal with parents and siblings, what can be wrong? We do that on a daily / weekly basis. So why on this day aren't we allowed? You have millions of people around the world celebrating Mohammed's (pbuh) birthday. You can have a nice meal and you can give a gift. Even the Prophet himself "Give presents to one another for this would increase your mutual love." He didn't specify a day we could or couldn't. So for all tense and purposes. If you aren't committing pagan acts, you can acknowledge a birthday with a gift and meal.

@Wildlifewild1 I don't celebrate the prophets birthday, so don't insinuate. And don't insinuate what religion I'm not. But what the scholars are saying is don't blow out candles, don't put yourself in a haram situation. Nothing about having good food or sharing a gift. At the end of the day, you aren't supposed to be having full on wedding ceremonies. Only Nikkah, but then look what goes on! People spending absolute thousands on wedding halls, fireworks, smoke machines and dry ice crap. Mixed halls. On Eid, it's little time with family then out driving around, or going restaurant and other social places like bowling alleys and cinemas. So there's alot to be changed before talking about having a decent meal at home with family.

I'm Christian in the USA. I do not celebrate pagan holidays or birthdays. I made a decision to celebrate, love and honor and worship God love and honor God Almighty our creator. When I obey the Lord I know that he loves me. Then I love him even more people's opinions don't matter because my relationship with God is more important to me

Yes , growing one year older means you are closer to your death .. but remembering ones date of birth and wishing that the next year will be happy is just a social habit, people don’t think about the origin of that in other previous cultures .. it’s just a habit .. Islam neither encourages that nor can we say it’s “ haram “ … Please saying haram is not a simple thing .. It can be just a chance to reflect .. we can customize the Birthday Habit to blend with our Muslim culture .. But we can’t just tell people it’s HARAM to say Happy Birthday to friends .. This is not what Islam is about ! Islam is about taking and advantage of every aspect in life to strengthen bonds of relations between us as human beings, and between us and our Creator.

He mentioned about blowing candles is Islamically incorrect, but we can wish our friends and family by both hijri as well as gregorian calendar. I. E. We can cut cake, without putting candles on it, we can decidate our house as well as invite people and do Quran recitation along with other dekicacies etc May Allah guide us best.

When I say this to my friends + family they call me an extremist and use excuses here and there. I've gotten to the point where idc what they say and do it my way and let them do it their way. I've informed them of the errors and if they want to continue that is their downfall. Allah knows best. Alhamdulilah
