If a man is giving a mixed speech the women is expected to lower gaze yet man is not therefore the women is not allowed to give speech but man is? So what if they are sexualy more attracted to women they still have to practice Islam as being more attracted to something is not an excuse from the practice of Islam. Okay, when I initially heard this I was quite shocked in a bad way, thinking it was unfair, but I actually liked Dr Naik's way of answering this. Essentially it minimizes risk for anything bad, wrong, or even dangerous happening. I thought it was just unfair but after hearing him I agree it's better for women to give dawah to women, and men to men/both.

In chapter 24 verse 30 and 31, Quran never refrained women from speaking in public even in the presence of male audience. It’s asking men to restrain their looks to protect women’s purity. That could mean it’s asking men not to look at other women in that way and be a gentleman. It doesn’t mention anything about women not coming out and speaking in public in the presence of male audience. It’s probably Dr. Naik’s way of understanding just like how many other Muslim orthodox have adopted such idea . But from my perspective, definitely not what Quran defines at all. And I wonder how they manage to interpret their holy book according to their convenience. I would also like to mention that ch 24 verse 31 doesn’t ask women to hide their face. Instead it means both men and women dress up modestly and have a loose covering when they come out of house in order to hide several parts of body that is sexually appealing but doesn’t mention anything about wearing a veil or such.

We are talking about having haya here. Modesty is a big part of the religion. So when you are asked to lower your gaze, what doesn't mean? Why do you have to lower your gaze? Isn't that being modest? There is no such thing as Muslim orthodox or Liberal Muslim. If you are a Muslim, you should follow the Qur'an and Sunnah.

A good point. Islam doesn't outright forbid women giving public speeches in mixed company. Its just not advisable because its risky for both parties there. For the man if they can't lower their gaze properly or have less than appropriate thoughts. For the women if she accidently betrays her modesty or slips up somehow. Both willingly put themselves in that situation so any mishaps will be punishable. This is what I think on the topic.

When a man sees something he likes his thoughts drifts, some drift a little and some a lot and some none and who don’t feel anything and have no thoughts about a pretty woman in front of them that means they are sexually weak and they need treatment.
