In the early 90s the Superkarts weighed 195kgs including driver. After a string of serious accidents the chassis were beefed up and the minimum weight was increased to 218kgs. Engines have remained the same so Superkarts are actually slower to accelerate than they used to back then. Car technology on the other hand has come a hell of a long way forward. Either way, karting remains the purest form of motorsport, nowadays actually the ONLY pure form of motorsport. A single 250cc kart should be able to match the pace of the twins around Monaco being quicker round corners and under braking and would be the best bang for the back as well, the engines are much much cheaper to both buy and-especially- maintain. Whilst the Superkarts get the most attention from the performance hungry crowd, if you were ever to go out on the track the singles might be your best bet to challenge yourself whilst having a blast going racing. Lastly, car tracks do not meet the standards for Superkart racing, only bike tracks. You want the barriers to run all the way to the ground and not leave a gap where the chassis might fit but the driver never would.

Despite what may people may think, the fact that modern F1 cars are big, doesn't make them slow around Monaco. The 2024 pole lap was just 1 tenth off the record set in 2019. Their size hinders overtaking, which was never easy in Monaco, even 20 years ago or even more; but it doesn't hinder outright speed.

Not only doesn't slow, the insane downforce of modern F1 car actually make them *A LOT QUICKER* in Monaco, despite theay're a lot bigger(which actually increasing the downforce by increasing the "reference area" of the aerodynamic) and heavier. In the so-called "golden era" of V8/V10 natural aspirated engines and narrower, lighter cars, the pole laptime of Monaco is stucked around 1:14. Like, the pole position was 1:13.985 in 2004, and 1:13.876 in 2013. It will be even slower in early 2000s, like in 2002 the pole position is 1:16.676. It will also be significantly slower when the rule made major change that significantly reduced the aerodynamic downforce, like in 2009 the pole position is only 1:14.902, and a poor 1:15.989 in 2014. And once the aero rule restriction lifted in 2017, the pole laptime of Monaco is almost shorten at the insane rate of *more than 1 second per year* (1:12.178 in 2017 and 1:10.810 in 2018), untill the current record of a whopping *1:10**.166* which was made in 2019. *4 f*cking seconds faster than the 2000s!!!* The race in Monaco is indeed boring, but just watching these aerodynamic monsters hammering through the narrow street of Monaco and simply do stop-and-go on a track that every other car on the planet will all have to deal with cautious and almost wirewalking actions, will definitely make you know *why F1 is still the pinnacle of motorsport.*

@@jeffery7281 I think the fastest time set in the 2000's around Monaco was a 1:13.5 in Q2 of 2006, which is curious, given one never really thinks of 2006 as a particularly fast year. I do, however, find it a great shame that 2020 didn't had a Monaco GP, because maybe, just maybe.... We could've seen a 1:09 around Monaco. That would've been glorious. But who knows? Maybe 2025 will give us that 1:09.
