Yeah man those yz250x are killer bikes. Cross country, desert, hard enduro and moto. There is a guy Ryan Sandoval that has a channel called Joey Mac. He was a pro trials rider and a hard enduro rider and for a fair bit of time he did some serious stuff on a yz250x

Im thinking a big improvement would be the new Hitlis PV kit. The PV opens progressively, so it's not only smoother with more control, below peak it makes optimized power at a wide range of rpm. Look it up on YT. The inventor gives a good run down. Reviews are very good.

I have quite a few mods, but for someone with a new bike a flywheel weight and a 13 tooth front sprocket will be a great start. Free mods that are also important: proper jetting and my clutch lever mod I show in my other video. You can have a great bike for under $200 in mods

Can you compare this YZ250X with your last Beta? Strengths and weaknesses of each? Thanks!
@SingletrackStafford8 ай бұрын
Here's an essay for you: The obvious difference is the Beta has 50ccs more displacement so it lugged a little better. It also had electric start which is always nice. It was easy to ride and felt really agile. It was a singletrack monster. Cons: it wasn't very durable. I had electrically issues, paint on the frame starting chipping off, seat cover started cracking, fork tube anodizing wore off, computer never worked, one footpeg tilted higher than the other because of a glob of weld from the factory, factory sprocket the steal ring came loose from the aluminum center, not very stable at higher speeds, remove thermostat housing because it will leak, weird false neutrals sometimes if I was cruising road, clutch pull was actually heavier than my cable on the YZ250X. Parts are harder to come by. For example, I was on a multi-day ride with my YZ when I ripped my chain guide off. I was in a small town in Idaho and they had one. That wouldn't happen with the Beta and your riding trip would be done. Not likely to happen, but something in the back of my mind. The Yamaha is better across a wide range of terrain. I can ride it in the mountains one day and rip the desert the other. It has better top end pull and mid range. It's been really reliable. Never have to replace anything other than maintenance items like brake pads and pistons. The simplicity of the YZ is unmatched, it's so easy to work on. It feels lighter (it is) on the trails and it's just really fun and playful everywhere I ride it. The kickstand is beefy, which looks stupid, but works really well and you feel cool when all your KTM buddies have their kickstand break. Cons: the gearing isn't as good as the Beta (I swap between a 14 and 13 tooth sprocket depending on the terrain), it's easy to hit neutral shifting from 2nd to 1st (I modified the shifter star and it hasn't been a problem since). Doesn't lug as strong as a 300, but still lugs really well with a GYTR flywheel and hasn't been a problem. Small gas tank stock, so a bigger tank is nice. You have to kick start it which is a big deal for some people, transmission drain plug is on the bottom, so you have to remove the skid plate to change the oil. Needs a bigger flywheel from stock. Really weak chain guide tabs on the swing arm, a bulletproof designs guard is a must. I broke them clean off twice before I learned my lesson and had a local guy weld me up some neat reinforcements. Each bike I've owned has downsides. Overall I have way more fun on the YZ. I smile everytime I ride it. With a flyhweel, sprocket change and a bigger tank (optional), it's a great bike.

You just run what ya brung son... you can use any bike for anything it's largely dependent on experience. Yes other more expensive motorcycles may make it easier, but that's not the point. Hard Enduro is not supposed to be easy it's supposed to be one of the hardest things you've ever done on a motorcycle.😅 Never mind potential comments from the Muppets who say you should get this bike at that bike spend $10,000 15,000 don't listen to them 😂😂😂 chances are they are mediocre riders at best. I ride a low-cost hardtail on the most technical terrain on the east coast and I can ride everything, I'm not a great rider but I'm a capable rider and the bike makes me work harder and hone my skills. 👍 " it's not (always) about the bike" ✊
