I hate to say this and please correct me if I am wrong but wouldn't there be no francise fee to open the restraunt since Afton owns the whole franchise and it's all based on his intellectual property? He's not licensing the franchise of some other parent company but instead owns the whole thing. I mean I guess those figures could be taken as covering the same asscoiated costs but you would think they would also be a little bit of a mark up built into those?

Objection! You shouldn't have included the franchising fee of a Showbiz Pizza in the bill because Afton owned the Fazbear trademark when he opened the restaurant
@Bluecho48 ай бұрын
Yeah, I was thinking that too. Unless Freddies was a franchise in the film, it really would save a bunch of money on licensing fees. On the other hand, if Afton was building it all himself, there might be hidden expenses that go with not having a corporation that knows what it's doing furnishing the place. Showbiz Pizza obviously did franchises all the time, so they likely had furnishing down to a science. Unless Afton contracted that work out to similar company, he'd likely run into costs by error.

Something also worth considering, Freddy's was considered a massive success, meaning it's entirely possible Willy made more than the average animatronic themed restaurant usually does. It's also implied he at least had a hand in building them to some degree since I highly doubt a big name manufacturer would be ok with building a mask with the express purpose of (to put it lightly) harming the wearer. So I'm a bit of a research junkie myself. One of the arcade machines that we see the restaurant is called the cyclone. It's that machine where you're trying to stop the light in between the bars and win tickets. The cyclone was released in 2009 by I.C.E. let's say that the Freddy fazbear universe gets their electronics about 10 years ahead of time. That would account for the increased ability among animatronics. Even then that would mean that the restaurant would have had to stay open until 1999. Giving Afton almost two decades of revenue from Freddy fazbear's. So he definitely could foot the bill.

If we're willing to lean a little harder on game lore for context, then this estimate is possibly highballed and Afton came out even better. Some of the franchising and animatronic fees could be reduced by Afton having done most of the work himself. He was considered the creator of the animatronics, and the founder of the franchise. I can't even begin to guess what labor on one of these things would account for in the bill however. Further, if the place only needed to operate until 85 to turn a profit, then we can gleefully consider that if the 'bite of 87' remains a part of the movie timeline, then the restaurant lasted until at least 1987. Child murder is profitable!

The movie novelization confirms that Mike's brother was kidnapped and killed in 1987, and with Garrett seemingly the first victim of Afton in the movies, and Freddy Fazbear's closing after the murders means the William would've earned a profit since it probably closed late 80s
@kittenarcader7 ай бұрын
I think when the second movie comes out I’ll revise my results from this video, but this helps thank you
@MrLeFluffy18 ай бұрын
A couple of small corrections I want to add: 1. William Afton _created_ the Freddy Fazbear IP. This means he wouldn't have to pay any sort of franchising fees, as he wasn't a franchisee but rather the original owner and creator of the Freddy Fazbear restaurant(s). 2. Since we're being movie-specific here, there's nowhere in the movie that claims the standard, non-suit animatronics were ever free-roaming or able to move from the stage. Abby herself says "how else would they make the robots move?" in regards to their being _possessed._ So I don't think you should be accounting the full range of motion shown in the film as being part of the actual animatronic parts, but rather just their stage performance movements, with adjustments made for the suit animatronics. 3. This could honestly go either way, but if we're going to pull info from the games/books to fill in gaps, then one could argue that the building and land have been around since at least the 60's in the form of Fredbear's Family Diner. Again, this isn't stated in the film, but it's also not stated how long ago the land was bought or if the building was built to _be_ Freddy Fazbear's or was repurposed to be Freddy Fazbear's, or how long ago Afton inherited the land/building. So one could argue that he may have purchased these things in the 60's, which would affect the cost. Again, this could be argued for and against with equal merit imo, but I thought I would bring it up! 4. Freddy Fazbear's was an _extremely succesful_ restaurant/business. We're talking _huge._ So huge, in fact, that the only thing that shut it down was multiple children vanishing while at Freddy's, with no resolution to the case. An obvious abductor/probably murderer was using Freddy's as a target, and the police were getting absolutely nowhere with it, meaning Freddy's wasn't _safe_ to bring your kids anymore. That's the only reason it shut down! Not financial instability, or a decrease in popularity. A literal ongoing crime is what caused its demise. Considering the fact that owning and running _any_ kind of restaurant or business costs insane amounts of money when looking purely at the expenses, I think it's very reasonable that Afton ran a succesful business for what was likely at least a decade, and as such, is neither in crippling debt at it's closing nor a secret millionaire. I think it's actually reasonable to put him in the position of simply having owned/invented/run a very succesful restaurant and business throughout the 80's. All in all, excellent video, as always!

I know this is a week late, but two things: 1. The film takes place in MN due to legal documents 2. In behind the scenes material we can see that the restaurant is opened in 1973. I would have mentioned the franchising thing but, other comments already addressed that. I don’t know how much that actually changes things though. Edit: At least in the games, Golden Freddy is a springlock suit.

The research you go through for these videos is INSANE. Nothing but respect for the work you put into them. So any feedback I have is minor compared to what you do. Now, I feel like there are some numbers left out or are worth considering. First off, if memory serves it was William (and someone else) who created Freddy's. I'm sure there would still be cost for research and stuff but they wouldn't need to spend the money to 'buy in' to an already established franchise. They made their own. Which saves a lot of money. Second, electricity. William obviously was paying someone to keep the power on and animatronics charged in a closed restaurant. Third, in terms of debt, I think it's also important to look at William's current job. We don't know how long he has been working at his current job but if he makes enough we could possibly assume he put some money on the side to pay off debts or bills.

A few things I haven't seen mentioned, based on a childhood of learning all the lore I could: 1: Ths original suits were cheaper. The only thing that made the golden freddy and bonnie different from other animatronics of the time is the springlocks. They were on the stage while they didn't have a person in them. They would've been more expensive than normal ones to buy but probably overall cheaper to produce, which henry and william (maybe just william in the movie timeline) did. B: Doesn't matter for cost but if you didn't know, there's a theory (matpat came up with it as far as I know) that vanessa is a robot. That'd explain the lack of sleep we see, along with the mood shifts. The novelization strongly implies this as well if I remember correctly. -Idk, like ur content ig. Keep it up. Edit: I forgot to add this but this is all based on five year old knowledge so if anyone knows the lore better, you're welcome to correct me. Also the first one is based on the games and who knows how much lore carried over? God, fnaf timelines sucked before with the books, now there's a movie timeline?

It might be the animatronics priming me, but the Saw 6 poster looks like a rabbit.

Let's just ignore whether, or not it's possible, where the hell did William get the money to start the franchise and build the animatronics? That part is never explained in the lore.

In ShowBiz history, the original investor owned a chain of hotels. His animatronics guy was just trying to find something to do while he played in his band wearing a pasta strainer on his head. So we must ask ourselves, is Afton the hotel guy or is he the pasta guy? And importantly, who do we WANT him to be?
@bradyblue52698 ай бұрын
@@kittenarcader He was both. Those hotels probably also killed kids

Despite how deep into the FNAF fandom I am, I had yet to get around to watching the film. I'd only juuuuust missed seeing it in theaters, and just wasn't feeling finding it online. Getting to watch this video after the movie gave me a really good excuse and motivation to watch the movie for the first time. So thanks for that!

i think this as a one off episode every now and again would be awesome, but I'm more interested in the Saw series. someone else said it but the Saw games as well would be great
