I feel like at the moment it is a nice image producer for art or NFTs; but in terms of architecture, there are a few layers of 'iterations' before what is produced starts to look like a practical, viable rendered image of a structure. The images can certainly be used as inspiration or one of the precedents at the concept stages of the project.

Ohh yess for sure. Ao even on midjourney you actually have to keep trying with text prompts to get it to a point where it can start to look like something that can actually exist. At this point, whatever it creates is much more conceptual in nature.

Slightly disagree. MJ has been about for just over a month and the progress people have made using and improving their prompts has been mind blowing from what I've seen in some of the groups, including some with Archviz that really got into the detail of a facade, volumes of the spaces and the details in structures. I think the limits comes down to your structure and detailing in the prompts you set it to imagine and the longer MJ is out, the more people will get a better grasp of how to get the most from this tool.

It can be a tool for inspiration only. It doesn’t have an understanding of composition and rationalisation and tends to favour freeform design. It can also only be derivative. In some of these issues may be improved by programming however it will still be very derivative. The only useful place for this is the metaverse. There are already plugins that help to make these images 3D. However the anything NFT-related is a massive waste of our finite resources.

I think these images can be described as captivating and thought provoking but not really ‘beautiful’. They’re far too unrefined, interesting but with a clear lack of understanding of the principles that formed both architectural styles.
