Good video. I viewed it mainly to see if these engines valves were tappet or shim adjusted. I am surprised they are tappets. High performance engines usually run shims, but the tappets are a lot easier to deal with.

Excellent video well done. When you adjust your valves is it possible to check your chain tension? Can you make a video on that ? Thanks.

When the quad comes off the assembly line everything is new so during the break-in period the parts wear into each other and find their place. That's why you have to go re-adjust them to make sure they're back in the optimal location.

So are the springs compressed or not compressed at TDC? You say at the start that they need to be compressed, then you get that cylinder to TDC and aligning the dash marks with the head and as your pointing at the valves you say the springs ARE NOT compressed. Can you clarify?

Do these engines usually need adjustment? That is do they wear? There is 200hrs on mine and the valves haven't bee checked yet.

Yes it is, exempt that it´s only 1 cylinder on a 400. From this video I could adjust the the valves on my 400.
@xamitz5811 жыл бұрын
Just getting into this. Why is this important? And why do you adjust. Do they get out of place over time?
@canamrider71954 жыл бұрын
Today's engines are quite wear tolerant. I had a John Deere mower/tractor and check the tappet valves on schedule, and they were exactly in the middle of the high/low range, that is they perfect.

it would be nice if someone did a video on the entire cooling system do / don't of looking for the overheating issues of an 800r fills fluids to use /not use if there are any bleed points some of us just don't know

doesnt seem to hard at all, im about to pull my exhaust to wrap it might as well adjust these also. where can i find a feeler gauge? only tool i dont have. what happens if the valves are off?
@canamrider71954 жыл бұрын
Any auto store. If the valves are to tight you can burn them. To loose and your engine will run like crap or not at all, and slowly kill itself.
@MILI-RAK-164 жыл бұрын
If not adjusted right, you could have valve to piston contact and eventually bend or break a valve or all lol

I have a 2018 outlander 100r xmr and just had its second service done...… At the time it was under factory war. dealership charged me $1960.00 for the work done... Ok rite???? the dealership adjusted the valves …. Ok when I got it back it ran fine for say for 1 to maybe 2 hours... I like 20min runs. The first time I rode an hour on it it started doing same thing I carried it to be worked on the 1st time... NO power acting like it was not getting proper fuel... started every time flawless.... but no power what so ever...…. Also the warmer the motor got the worse it would run...…. Now it is back at the same spot for repair again with less than 20 miles on it from when I picked it up from $1900.00 service..... Now they are telling me that it needs new fuel pump and plugs..... QUESTION- how much dose the proper valve adjustment have to do with the fuel delivery and what are the odds that the fuel pump and plugs are bad V.S. incorrect valve adjuystments ????? PLEASE HELP!!!!! Before I am stuck with another huge bill. For nothing repaired...…..

chris moore maby tell them to blue lock tight the valves . Sounds like you need a new repair place.
