Really appreciate this video. I just bought the new solo driver seat (for too much) and the clips require opening the clamshell body to secure the seat. Snap-in clips like the comfort seat would be logical, but no..! It's obviously a moneymaker for BRP techs, as it's no small task to install. I'm old but tool-savvy and I will prevail with your video. Huge thank you for this video! I bought my ryker yesterday and this afternoon I stupidly thought 'I wonder how the seat comes off'... Thus I spent a good couple of hours taking the whole thing apart, putting the seat back on, and putting it back together! At least I learnt a lot. Really strange design choice to have to lift the clamshell to put the stock seat on, especially when their comfort one just clips in!

I bought a Ryker in April and have had some issues. I think the CVT is bad (2020 rally 4500miles). When I drive slow going either fwd or reverse it feels like the belt is warped. Popped the panel above the brake pedal off just like you did. Unfortunately the large 90 degree plastic hook below the seat broke off immediately. This is the panel you put on and off and on and off to show how sturdy the hook is. I used very little force. Crap plastic now I’m going to glue it back together and use thin metal strips to reinforce it hope it works. But thank you for all your work showing how everything comes apart 😊
@BLRTUNING3 жыл бұрын
It is very strange how the plastic is on these bikes for sure. Several people have broken plastic that seems very simple even something as simple as just removing the hood the little plastic clips that you squeeze I've had people break those just removing the hood.. yet other people have been able to take their Pike apart multiple times without breaking anything. On my bike personally I have broken just about every panel on that thing but it's hard to compare my bike to someone's that is brand new because mine has been taken apart so many times..
@richardhansen33912 жыл бұрын
I broke the same clip on mine, doing the same thing! I drilled multiple holes and used solid wire to stitch it together, then coated it with JB Weld. I did the same thing for a couple of radiator mounts on cars, as well as the small pins on the Ryker radiator mount. I need more JB Weld.....

Good afternoon i just have one question my name is Larry i love the info u give. Will i have to lift the shell just to replace the orginal 900 seat foam i took it off but having problems replacing it.
@BLRTUNING Жыл бұрын
Yes to get it on correctly you do need to lift the entire clamshell of the bike. Then you can use rubber bands or small clips on the foam inserts so it squeezes them together. Then feed them through the holes and then remove the rubber bands or clips. That would be the proper way to do it. Others have figured out shortcuts around this but you risk damaging the seat. I recommend opening the clamshell it's not that challenging to do so. I have a KZbin tutorial video that will walk you through the entire thing. If you ever need any assistance or want to check out the parts that we carry feel free to look us up on our website. All my contact information is at the bottom of the web page. www.blrtuning.co

Any idea what would keep the clamshell from fully opening? I went to open mine up this morning to change out the belt and once I got everything off the way you showed (this video is so helpful btw in this regard), I went to open it. Lifted from the triangles near the seat and it wouldn't open all the way to expose the transmission. There's a silver bar part (sorry for not knowing the name, I am in fact not mechanically inclined) that my neighbour who was out with me and she noted that one side moves when I lift, but the other doesn't. Any ideas would be extremely appreciated.

Hi Bill great video. I was reading in the BRP manual that you should empty the gas tank. Did you do that? It also looks like you can easily swap out the parking brake cover with this method.
@BLRTUNING4 жыл бұрын
You only need to empty the gas tank if you're going to lift the gas tank open when you open the shell.. in the BRP manual it says you can put a ratchet strap around the gas tank and the plastic body panel that opens this will lift the gas tank up out of place along with the body shell... if you don't put a ratchet strap around it the gas tank will stay in place while you open the shell as I show in this video.. so to answer your question if you're following the steps in this video no you do not need to empty the gas tank.. Opening the clamshell body is not that challenging as long as you just take it one step at a time and try and remember to mark where everything goes what I usually do is put stuff in ziplock bags as I pull it out of the bike and write down on the bag with a permanent marker where those bolts go. if you want to replace the seat and you want to do it the correct way this is the correct way to do it by opening the clamshell body. can be done other ways without opening the clamshell body but you risk damaging your seat or your bike.... @BLRTUNING Жыл бұрын
You have to disconnect the cable that goes from the e-brake to the glove box or else you will snap it in half or break something if you go to clamshell the bike. You can disconnect it from the e-brake side of things or disconnect it from the glove box side of things it doesn't matter. Do whichever one seems easier to you. I usually just unscrew the lock mechanism from the glove box and then leave the lock mechanism hanging down the inside. Then when I clam shell the bike it'll just stay there until I put everything back together.

I still need to ride one of these. I'm getting conflicting stories from people. Some say this is a quick/fast bike others say not. What's your input? Can u compare the speed/acceleration to anything?
@BLRTUNING5 жыл бұрын
Main reason I got this is so we can go on trips with my parents who own a Can-Am Spyder. This is faster than a Can-Am Spyder as far as acceleration. The 0 to 60 time is quick. The bike feels fast until it gets to about a hundred miles an hour. Stock they will top out at about a hundred and four miles an hour.. of course if you purchase the Dynojet Pv3 and put one of my tunes on the bike you can get quite a bit more out of it. Cooler running temps, quicker acceleration better throttle response and a faster top speed. I like it.
