You know what, thanks for this. I'm doing research for a Ryker 900 Rally. I am one of those weirdos that does months and months of research before I buy anything big like this. I spent a year before I bought my current car doing research, and my last 2 bikes were the same. This helps a lot as I'm in the "what is the maintenance looking like" phase and honestly I'm now torn between the Rally and a used F3 due to what I'm hearing. Thanks again for all these videos!

C8 I’ll be starting my 3rd summer soon with my 21 Ryker 900. While it’s a blast to ride, I’ve had nothing but issues since I bought it. Gas gauge, forgot it! 3 sending units and it still has a mind of its own. Shifting between reverse and forward, I get the clunk that I believe to be normal. However, as the miles have gone up, when I start out from a stoplight or going very slowly in heavy traffic, somewhere in the driveline is a condition where it clunks and snaps and lurches And they don’t know how to fix it. As we speak, it’s in the shop I was told there’s an update to the system but they won’t tell me what it is. The manager at the dealership wants me to figure out what it is so I can tell him. Not very inspiring. I like the Riker 900, my buddy, purchased a 2021 spider, the version, and he only paid 15 grand and it had 1000 miles on it. It is so so much better. In every respect to my Ryker. It makes me sick! The dealer can’t come up with a repair to this driveline issue, I’m gonna sell it in the spring. Then, probably buy a spider. I have so many BRP products, and they have been really well engineered and assembled. I cannot say that at all for the Ryker. Oh, an oil change at the dealer runs around $185. Not cheap or easy to maintain this bike compared to a motorcycle.

I've never had a VSS Fault code on my Ryker Rally overall at the price I paid for mine it's still a lot cheaper than putting parts on my HD Trike plus the Ryker you can drive it without doing any upgrades to the motor. The M8 needs a little work if you want to make the engine last as well as working on the suspension and seat to make the more comfortable. Being a retired HD mechanic I have to say that one of the things I'm most disappointed with my Ryker is the fuel economy. The best I ever squeaked out of mine was 33MPG. The HD Trike I average 38-39MPG with a 114ci.. As far as the brakes on the Ryker as soon as the brakes started squeaking I just went and pulled the brakes and put copper grease on the guide pins and backing plates... no more squeak. This is also a very common issue with Royal Enfields as well. The rust that's a pretty common as well as the plastic parts noise is also common I just mark it up to the price point of the bike. Would I buy another one??? No, and while it's a fun toy... I run my HD Trike much more but than again after you pay your 30k expect to put another 2 to 3k more to make the Trike not shatter your spine. So at 12K to get the Ryker it's as Can Am wanted to target newer riders into the sport of twist and go... I still like my gears. Great informative video.

@@c8pate744 actually it’s not the code that sucks. It’s the limp mode that sucks. The code tells us what is wrong with our bikes. The limp mode makes us take the bike to the dealership to clear it. I just came across your very informative video and thought I'd like to throw in my couple of cents worth. I've been driving bikes since 1963, I'm in my late 70's now. I hadn't had a bike in several years and wanted to get back on one but my kids protested too much and convinced me that 3 wheels would be safer for an old duffer like me. So i acquiesced and bought a 2020 Ryker 900 ACE in the fall of 2020. Within the first year I had every issue you mentioned but that's not where I'm going with this. Before I made my purchase after having sworn I'd never be caught even dead on a three wheeler I test drove a couple at the dealership and thought ok maybe this will actually be fun. The roads I took my test drive on were very smooth and flat and the experience was enjoyable. I live in Montreal, Quebec, BRP's home province. The streets and roads around here are in such bad condition that they make 3rd world countries look like paradise by comparison. So full of potholes, cracks, bumps, sunken manhole covers to the point it made driving this machine an excercise in torture. If you can find a couple hundred meters of smooth surface anywhere it's cause for celebration. The ride on roads like these even after forking out and extra $450 for the "Driver's comfort seat" ( the stock seat is so thin it might as well not even be there.) it was still torture. Instead of enjoying an outing I spent all my time trying to hold myself off the seat by hanging onto the handlebars with feet firmly on the pegs and sort of standing to keep from getting hammered in my butt from the machine's completely atrocious rear monoshock suspension. At least on a 2 wheeler you can go around some but not all of these bumps but with a three wheeler that occupies almost a lane's width your maneuverability is limited. You have a choice of hitting the obstacles with either your left front wheel, right front wheel or worst of all the middle rear wheel. All I can say further is if you like your tailbone and want to keep it intact and bad or bumpy roads are where you'll be driving my advice to anyone is DON'T BUY THIS MACHINE ! You'll be very sorry. If you live in Florida where the roads are smooth and flat you'll have a good time but anywhere else you won't like it at all. If you are already someone who has any back issues you'll be killing yourself. I sold it as fast as I could find a sucker for it.

2K Rally - Left side rattle so slight I haven't even done the simple fix. One rust spot up near steering hardware, wheels, no rust. I did clean the area early on and added a thin film of grease but no rust even w/o caps. Added comfort seats front/rear, full luggage set (great set from Slingmods), change handlebars to better fit my short arm (really great), and just a few other small common mods none of which have caused issues. I'm a former E Tech. If you add common LEDs to your bike they will not overload your bikes electrical system. 2 biggest problems with any type of LEDs are too cheaply made and poor user installs (poor connections) If connectors give you unreliable connections learn to strip, solder, and use heat shrink then problem solved. Also make sure new wires are safely, and securely routed. I love the brakes!!!!! It takes a lot of time and practice to be really proficient in braking on a MC but you are an instant braking superstar on the Rykers.

Good video, this is my wife's second Ryker. First was a 2020 Rally, second 2022 Rally. We bought the new one because of the issue with the YAW sensor cutting the power while riding through curves. Same issue with this one. Super f*cking annoying! CanAm has the absolute worst customer service ever! My sister has a Spyder, they don't have the YAW sensor issue. So, why the hell did the idiots at CanAm decide to put that on the Ryker??? You seen the Ryker commercials with people tearing up the road on one? No way in hell you can ride one that way, cause it will cut the power, even in Rally mode. I have a 2021 ZX6R with a slip on exhaust. The bike comes with a servo motor that operates a valve in the exhaust from the factory. So you have to install a servo relay that tricks the bike into thinking the servo is still connected. So, someone needs to do the same for the Ryker. Cause, the stability system in that bike totally kills your riding. Also, as a tip, do not put lights on the bike, the computer hates them. Also, if you don't know how to route the wiring, the dealer will end up cutting your wires. Plus, they are a huge pain in the ass to run the wires on that bike. Only mods we did on this one, LED headlight upgrade, the MTX Bluetooth speaker with the windshield mount. CanAm had it on sale for 550, also we got the Linq hard case for the Max Mount. We got the VSS fault this weekend while riding, it stayed on for about 20 miles and then finally went away. It came on while riding through a curve, I'm thinking the issue lies with the YAW sensor. I believe that it got stuck, giving the bike a false reading and causing it to go into limp mode. CanAm refuses to address this issue. We have a case open with them through the dealer. Number 6 you should put on your list, is the gas cap. That plastic connector gets in the way and sometimes makes it hang up. And number 7 should be the fuel gauge, because of the design of the tank, it doesn't allow the float to sense the gas level properly. An easy solution to that would have been a sight window so you could look at it and see what the gas level is. But, for reference, reset your trip meter each time you fill up and start looking for gas around a hundred or so miles. Cause about 130 is what you get out of a tank. Sorry for the long post, but CanAm really needs to address the issues with this bike.

I had a Ryker 900 and had the same problem with the yaw sensor, although I didn't know what it was. I complained to the dealer and got no relief. I ride with a motorcycle club of retired guys and could never keep up if we rode hilly roads with curves. I remember the first time it happened, I thought I had a flat rear tire so stopped to check, the tire was fine but every time i tried to corner with my friends on motorcycles the yaw sensor would cut in and the bike would slow way down. The dealer acted as if there was no problem and after putting up with it for a number of months I sold it at a loss. Unless that problem is fixed I would never buy another Ryker or recommend it to anyone. I am curious as to whether Can-Am has fixed the problem on the newer models, if anyone has any information I'd like to hear it.

One issue I forgot I had and finally fixed was the clamp on the handlebars was always coming loose. At one point I’m coming down a hill about 90km and it came loose. Fortunate I clamped it before I was about to turn. So I kept a little screwdriver with me to tighten the tiny screw periodically. WRONG THING. Turns out tightening the main nut where the handlebar is on the guide is what was needed and it hasn’t come loose since. I’m guessing the dealer didn’t do it right.

To fix the squeak issue, you need a good brake stop for the pads… several good hard brakes generally will fix that issue. Meaning, doing 70 on the road and doing several hard brakes…70 to 0, hard, not letting off the break till you come to a complete stop. Brakes like that general seats the pads.

C8 the VSS for a lot of people is from riding the breaks. People gotta read and understand you can’t do that. #2 silicon grease on the breaks will help with squeaking. #3 people need to purchase cap covers and use silicon grease. #4 nothing you can do on the plastics but pad those areas with some type of tape to help with the noises for those having that problem. Bonus, I I like the PPAs but I think I like the 22 sport wheels better. I decide I’m going with the Rally but want the sports wheels. But the rally wheels are constructed with hard material for Offroad purposes. They specifically designed those rally wheels to takeoff Offroad abuse.

@@c8pate744 not sure if this actually has anti-squeal shims (like cars do) so a thin smear on the back of the brake pads will do the same. If it still squeals after that, then it'll be brake dust - easy to determine by running a hose pipe over the brakes. Some cars do the same - my Mini needs a weekly hosing down to stop the squeal because I've not had the time to take the brake pads out to coppaslip them.
