I rented an X3 max 2 weeks ago and 35 mins in while putting slowly along at camp area heading back out to ride, clunk, upper A arm snapped almost right at mount bolt. Machine seemed in good condition otherwise and we def had not done anything to cause it. Owner was to us in under 20 mins (he lives next to El Mirage) super apoligetic and offered us 50% off a rescedule so I found that to be fair cause shit happens sometimes. Waitin till summer to see what barely used machines hit the market but the a arms def seem to need upgrading.

Extreme performance makes a weld in lower A arm gusset that is $70. They came out really nice and fix that weak point. Good option if someone doesn't want to drop all the cash on new arms.

Just fyi another weak spot is the steering link arm, however, if you swap out to chromoly, it then makes your steering box the next weak spot (ask me how I know). Yes, I replaced steering box, Lower A-arms and Axle, when not even riding hard. (hit Witch Eye, on a rare trip with my X3 to Glamis) Baja Bumper, and Bulkhead kit, and Upper Shock Tower Mount are all great upgrades, and helped with radiator, from getting damaged again. Got a question, about your cage, if you do not use your D-Pillar, why did you not delete it? Or is it part of your Rear Bumper mount, or did you add it to use for Rear Shock Reservoir mounting? This was a customer cars, on my all.blue x3. The d pillar on the cage is used and integrates with my rear bumper. On my personal x3 i have also replaced the tie rods. And soon replacing the rack and pinion with Shocktherapy s rack. Thanks for sharing👍🤟

It is a pro eagle extension and pro eagle base that fits on the harbor freight aluminum jacks . I bought it at the 4x4 expo a year or so back

Frank I am sorry brother I have a question. Can u switch to 2x4, to 4x4 on a X3 XRS Can Am on the fly without having to stop the car completely? Or switch from regular trail to Active Trail on the fly??

Yes for both . It is not recommend to switch from 2wd to 4wd while hard on the gas, but we do it all day off the gas while moving 30mph+ without issues.

Is there any fix for all the suspension squeak? Or the brake squeal? I notice it on almost all X3’s. Even when I had my 1st gen maverick it made the same noises. I keep the suspension greased almost every other ride but it never take the noise away. Thanks

Some dry lube can help on some components like shock eyelets. Being dirty these things are generally gonna make some noise. The pads are pretty high carbon which will result in squeaking aswell.

I keep all suspension components greased, and all exposed areas with dry lube like a graphite spray. Wet type lubes will attract dirt.

Thicker metal used for frame but generally have the same issues. Still great machines just have some small issues to address

Hcr dual sport. A more affordable option but still awesome is the new hcr sport line arms

@@GLifeUTV I really appreciate the advice, Frank. The HCR dual sport is an option for me. If I do the TMW Gusset and Shock Tower Reinforcement, how critical are the RCV 300 M Ball Joints and the X RS Assault HD Turret Tie Rods that are offered as options with it? I wouldn't mind upgrading the Balljoints or the Tie Rods when the OEM ones wear out out, but that's another $900 on top of $2700 I'm looking at putting in. (I'm also getting the rear tie reinforcement plate with tow receiver.)

The tie rods bend on really big Hits.. But u don't absolutely need them.. i would do balls joints from lmutv since u will have the arms off

@@GLifeUTV thanks. If something bends, I can limp back to the trailer and replace it at home. I really appreciate that perspective on it! Are the Tie Rods likely to fail catastrophically? I think once I take it apart and put it back together once I'll be okay to do it again when it's time to replace the next week link. How about the trailing arms? Is it generally okay to hold off on those and I can replace them next year or maybe 2 years? I would want the same arms all around, but want to take care of the critical ones and be able to better afford the "less likely to break" ones next year? I don't plan on jumping dunes, just concerned I might hit a depression harder than I intend to.

Ive been running stock trailing arms and they have been great, I jump iit from time to time too.. the tie rods bend but normally they are strong to handle some decent abuse
