I got this one, plus the back button and joystick covers. The back buttons I was iffy on, but once they were on, it felt weirdly MORE ergonomic since it's contoured to share of your finger, whether you're pressing down with your top finger, or pressing up with your bottom finger. It does make the Steamdeck heftier, but the color is really nice and my hands cramp less.

FYI, from an engineering perspective, the ridges on the tops of the case make the top covers stiffer than a flat cover. So, it will protect the screen better by prevent that large flat area from bending into the screen and possibly scratching it. I’m thinking about getting a steam deck and accessories and everyone has only really said they get the kill switch and I appreciate an actual side by side comparison of all the different cases. There’s not really many videos that showcase them so I appreciate it! Love the content, keep up the great work!

That's so weird. I love dbrand's marketing because it's funny. I know they're not being serious so seeing them being mean to everyone, including their partners is so amusing to me. It reminds me of some older video games that had no qualms about insulting the player, mostly point and click adventures or for another example there was this RTS called Z where the announcer started belittling and insulting you when you were currently losing. That's my type of humor But I guess that explains why companies generally don't try to be a character or even are kinda sterile. Because even though you'll gain an audience, apparently there are also people who really can't stomach your act

I got the Sonicgrace clear case, which you can't buy anymore. It was identical to most steam deck clear cases but a bit higher quality with a kickstand. My takeaway was that as long as you only put it on and never take it off, it's an excellent case. The plastic tabs on it though are too small and you will definitely break them taking it off, resulting in a bad fit. The kickstand was a necessity to save space in my bag, which was very tight already. All clear cases usually have the benefit of not screwing up the fitment for bags and docks. For a steam deck bag I got the MVRPDXC Carrying Case. This is a REALLY good bag. I got it because it was the only bag that had room for: A folding keyboard Small mouse Backup battery SD cards Portable Dock without putting all that weight on the analog sticks, which is the main flaw of MANY steam deck bags. My viewpoint was if I was going to get a steam deck, I would make damn sure it was a ZERO compromise setup, which I definitely succeeded with these products.

I honestly hate grips since they add both weight and bulk to the device when gaming on it. One thing I wish existed is just a lid that covers the screen and inputs (incl. L1/R1/L2/R2) that either clicks into place or have straps around the device. That way I could have my Steam Deck in my bag comfortably without worrying about scratching or putting external force on the input. yet adding next to no extra bulk in the bag... unfortunately such a solution don't exist so I will probably need to learn how to make a 3D-printable one eventually :)

In my completely unbiased opinion... I think the Satisfye Stltyh(Stealth)Grip is the clear winner here. In all honesty though our grip is one that should be used and played with for hours to recognize its benefit. To just put it on the deck and hold it does it no justice. Biggest reason for its organic shape is to put more material in your palms and hand muscles which will free up your finger muscles from bearing the weight burden of the device. Over long testing periods the strain and fatigue with our grip will be much less than the others (Medium to larger hands mostly).

I like it the most out of my cases 07:28 Spigen grips 1st Spigen case- would use the lanyard maybe around a kids wrist. 2nd Spigen case seems more a stationary deck because of the dock cutout & least protection 12:30 tomtoc grip I like tomtoc products but not this one 18:57 Satisfye grip I like skull & co products more, but could like this one 30:36 Mepatem grip heard about this case...after I bought the dbrand KillSwitch travel kit. none of their items on Amazon any more, out of business maybe. On Aliexpress 38:18 tomtoc cases love this company, I put my dbrand travel kit in my tomtoc carry bag 40:35 Waterfield case nah 41:58 Spigen case nah

This was an awesome video. Such a fresh and more personal perspective of RGC. I got a bit of gear talk and a bit of marketing ethics too lol. I'm along for the ride!

I bought the Jsaux mod case and I love it. Also ordered the Deckmate as well however the stand was flimsy so using Jsaux case pretty much all the time. Deckmate is great for putting the Steam Deck on the wall with easy mount/removal.

Stick risers are a game changer if you play FPS/TPS games. I’ve had them on my controllers since I was playing Destiny 1 on the Xbox 360, they really do help a lot. The taller pivot means you can have finer granularity in your aiming, they make a huge difference. However, I don’t think I’d bother with them on a handheld where I’m happy to sacrifice a little controller accuracy for portability and convenience. Steam deck is big enough as it is.

Got the Benazcap one off Amazon for $10, its 13 now, but tight fit, everything lines up, built in kickstand, textured grips

JSAUX beats it on the price. But the killswitch is sturdy, it blocks the power button so there’s no way of it getting tapped for an accidental power on. I love the killswitch. I Don’t anticipate going to another hardshell case.

So, I have a rubber case on mine (Amazon like $25), I picked up once I first got the deck (I am a OG owner waited 1 year and 1 day to get mine), and I use a JSAUX case (BG0102) it's not much bigger than the OEM one but, has storage under the deck, I can fit power cord, headphones, 6' HDMI cable (USB-C to HDMI) even a portable dock with really good protection. I like the idea of the really slim thing but, when I take my deck on the road I want to have a charger with me.

For the Steam Deck black screen issue, it is a defect, and that happened to my husband's Steam Deck, and we had to RMA it. I have a career in the IT field and I tried everything from another SSD, reinstalling the os, to swapping his Steam Deck screen for my Steam Deck's screen, etc, and no luck (even some other things Valve told me to do, I had already done). Video output kept working fine on it, but I couldn't get the built-in screen to function at all. There was no physical damage to his screen either. When my husband had the issue occur, all that happened was his battery died while he was playing a game, so he just plugged in his Steam Deck charger and when he tried to turn on the Steam Deck again to play, that's when the screen stopped working. (I even swapped the battery on his Steam Deck for mine to see if that would make some sort of difference. It did not).

I'm surprised you didn't review the JSAUX take on the Kill Switch case

42:57 I actually really prefer a larger case and it's because I don't really take my Steam Deck on a commute or anything, more so I have a job where I travel to work then I am at work for 28 days then I travel back home. I want a case that has enough space for the charging brick, microfiber cloth, headphones, and SD card storage. That way I just grab my case and on my night shift I usually get down time. I don't have to worry about my Steam Deck dying because I have the charger. With that said I absolutely prefer a super thin case with a pocketable system like my 3DS XL.

I liked the format of the video. Probably about the right length (less the extended intro). It might be useful to do some drop tests or similare to see how these things actually perform. Sometimes things look great until actually put to the test and end up providing little to no protection. Otherwise that was some good, independent, consumer advice

I love the different set up. Like you mentioned some different decor will be a good upgrade for the multi angle set up. Good job switching it up and trying new things Russ! Also I’m still patiently waiting for your rg35xx h set up video please 😂

I've never had the Killswitch, because it is stupid expensive, but I have had the Mepatem one for a while now. I was able to find it at a local place for $6 and I absolutely love it! Also mine has a magnetic kickstand. I have no idea when they changed

I can't remember why, but when I got my OLED, I didn't like something about it compared to when it was on my original Steam Deck. I can't for the life of me recall what it was, since they're the same dimensions and everything, could be something minor like wanting to see the silly orange power button, but I think it was something else. Anyway, I decided to just go caseless for a while... and here we are half a year later and man I really prefer caseless. And I really liked my case! But something about a nice naked Steam Deck just feels perfect. I'm not a fan of bright colors on something where I want to focus on the screen (anything that draws focus away from the screen, like ambient lights, stick lights, bright plastic, etc just annoys me) so even grips are kind of annoying. I liked those carbon fiber touchpad stickers but after one started to peel off I just went without again.
