He announced the runner up, Miss Columbia as the winner when the actual winner was Miss Philippines. Miss Philippines was supposed to be the Miss Universe but he mixed that up. So the joke was mocking the incident.

Thank you for this video Ryan. I was so pissed when I heard Steve Harvey's blatantly racist "joke" and saw most of his audience laughing at it. I am a white chick whose high school boyfriend was a super hot Asian guy - and this was back in the 80s when you rarely saw a white chick with an Asian guy. IN fact, people stared at us all the time. I went on to marry a different Asian guy - who turned out to be a jerk - but had 4 very attractive hapa kids with him. Divorced his ass after 20 years of marriage. It kinda makes me sad how every single time someone says "Hey, Asian men aren't unattractive!", everyone agreeing with the statement only uses K-pop idols as examples, people who do not represent a realistic image of the average Asian male. There's other attractive Asian men beside them. People are out there trying to make Asian guys feel better, but the general reaction just seems to care about Korean stars, and K-pop stars have very high beauty standards that other Asian men just aren't gonna reach. How is that gonna help break the stereotype for average Asians not being attractive? You could be into K-pop and still think Asians in general aren't good looking. K-pop stars don't represent Asian guys. You shouting "BUT K-POP STARS ARE ATTRACTIVE!!" and "He has probably never seen K-pop" doesn't make it look like you want to defend Asian men, it looks more like you think K-pop stars are an exception to the statement "Asian men aren't attractive", and with that, you're kind of agreeing with that statement. Yes there are a lot of pointless visuals that do nothing, but look pretty, but most kpop idols are put into groups because they're talented. For example, most of Super Junior is considered unattractive in Korea, but they're still in the group because they have talent. Onew and Key of SHINee are considered ugly by Korean standards, but were still put into the group because believe it or not (dramatic pause) they're talented. Oh my god who would have thought. Kpop idols aren't just pretty faces thrown together to make a boy group. Some of the most talented idols are considered ugly by their nation's standards. They're only considered handsome by their fans who boost them up. Some named the entire BTS line up in the comments, but Rap Monster, J-Hope, and Suga are all considered ugly in Korea. But they're still in the group aren't they? Because they had the talent to make it. But fans still think their attractive? Because kpop fans put idols on pedestals and act as if they're more attractive than they really are.

Asian men and women are straight fire. Honestly for the life of me this is a weird thing in the black community, the older generation of men especially, love to make jokes at Asian men and Asian food. My dad, while he doesn't make jokes, was so confused when I said I'm attracted to Asian and white men, my mom knew and was fully supportive, my dad was just baffled but eventually gave his support. Same thing with food, he will refuse to eat anything different @___@ while he will try it eventually the wall he has build up is so strange. He literally loves anime, and loves Asian culture, hell he knows more about it then I do, and I have been to Japan and Korea. He is a master black belt in multiple styles of fighting, his biggest influence is Bruce Lee, so for my dad to be so obtuse about specific things makes me baffled haha. And this is not a one time thing, many black men in their 50s have this weird love-hate relationship with Asian cultures.
