Sucks in a format with plenty of face up creatures that meet the criteria that you want to play in white AND disguise creatures? How?
@coolpenguinz80347 ай бұрын
@@NumotTheNummyYTaccording to the 17lands IWD statistic (improvement when drawn) which measures your decks win rate with it vs without it, it is literally the 2nd worst card in the set behind Expose the Culprit. When you draw Assemble, you lose 7.6% more games than when you don’t draw it.
@Kazooieandbanjo7 ай бұрын
Having played with the card with 12/14 creatures that Assemble the Players could hit. Playing it on curve in 3 games with that deck and not being able to cast a single spell of it. I can confidently say the card is unplayably bad.
@SAYKODELIKmra7 ай бұрын
I don't think the 17lands data for a card tells the whole story. But if the data says a card is WAY better or WAY worse than average, I'd rather trust thousands of games than my own gut feeling. And every time I actually played the card, it was in line with the stats. And the stats for Assemble the Players are hilariously bad. I used it in my first draft too, and it was terrible. Edit: I also had the same experience with Grasping the Shadows from last set.

Love the statistics, I couldn’t pass this card fast enough, especially on arena where the AI absolutely punishes anything with the slightest potential for breaking.
@WoRMaSTeR647 ай бұрын
Assemble the players is bad with 15 hits. You are realistically seeing 4-10 fresh cards on top during a game. So that would mean 1,5-3,75 castables. However it also makes it akward a lot of the time since you have to cast the top card not to lose value while you most likely would be better of tempo wise to cast something else. Also the tempo loss especially for an aggro deck to have to cast Assmble on turn 2 is terrible. Getting even 2 casts is not that great since drawing 2 cards is always better and getting a worse draw two for 2 mana is not that great. This draft would have clearly been better to be RB and not get baited by Assemble. Those Festerleaches are good.

Assemble the players is actively bad. The ‘once per turn’ really kills it

Nummy - "this format is just curve out and win" (basically), then proceed to win your final game versus the absolute nut draw, just because you were on the play. Love it.

It's early, but pretty sure the mathology says this set has the highest play/draw winrate discrepancy of standard draft formats on arena. The last few years haven't been kind to nums durdling.

For me I think it helps to visualize Assmble the Players starting as getting 1 cast = a two mana draw 1 at sorc speed, 2 hits gets you a Chart a course, and only when you cast 3 whole things does it really pull its weight. May the assemble gods smile upon you Kenji, but I shall be passing it 😢

I have the feeling that for new sets there is a general cycle of: 1. People play slower synergistic decks 2. Aggro decks rise and exploit the slow decks 3. Slow decks adjust to aggro decks by playing suboptimal cards which stop the early bleeding and things even out. Right now we are in phase 2 with this set, but I have my hopes up, that we will reach phase 3 before it gets too frustrating.

50:30 I understand your situation, at least I think I do. Your career is largely based on an audience who enjoys MTG content, you got diaper money to pay, and you're kind of forced to make it work, even when the company is shifting to a very aggro type of playstyle which you don't enjoy as much. Just know Kenji, that I would follow you to any card game. I know that there are costs even to experimenting with other games, and doing something different, but maybe you can do that after you do your daily MTG. I know you occasionally do Pokémon and other games so maybe you can expand your horizons without giving up your base. Best wishes to you.

Make an army of thopters/fliers and pump them up. Vannifar, Proft's, Trampling case are some ways to pump them. Throw in some thopter makers and removal and card advantage.

Thank you for saying it. I said it one the first day the set released in paper and one of the people in comments basically said that I only think that bc I lack skill level. Literally every game at prerelease either ended on turn 5 with a million damage that is impossible to stop for the player on the draw; or the match would have one win and the games went so long that it went to turns and ended in a tie. Like I said, this set is a 💩 show.😮

Assemble the players looks like a "2 mana, discard a card" way too often for it to be worth it. Even if you get to cast 1 card off this, it's not worth it. You need to be able to do this multiple times for it to be fine. That's just super unlikely to happen. Lets say your deck has 12 hits for assemble. Thats just a 30% chance to hit. Once. With 15 possible hits, the chance is 37%. that is waaay way to low.

I will never ever take "Assemble the Players", i could take 15 2-cost creatures or Disguise creatures and still would just see lands and instants or something like that, IMO it is total RNG and that never works in my favor. Boros in limited = BORING! I play it only if have to but definitely my least favorite color combo. But i get it, nature of the game for different strategies always have to make a deck that can survive the initial boros deck attack especially on the draw. This set particularly a necessity unfortunately. They continue make sets to speed up the matches as fast as possible unfortunately, for greed purposes as always. Probably only get worse over time.
