I think we need to change our mindset here. We are too interested in making Fridrich work on this cube, but there is no indication that Fridrich makes any sense at all in this situation. If we are going to use a normal 3x3 solving method here, I think Fridrich is probably the worst choice because it depends so heavily on algorithms. My money would actually be with Heise, because since you understand what every turn does, you can find alternative ways to muddle through it. In Fridrich you depend heavily on specific sequences and that kind of thing is just going to fall flat. Assuming we are going to insist on trying a Fridrich /layer by layer/ approach then we need to look deeper into our algorithms than what our previous memorization has required. You got stuck because you can't do FRUR'U'F', but what about F'R'U'RUF? Get yourself a normal 3x3 and try that. Does that give you something you can work with? If so, can you use it on the cube? No? OK how about F'LU'L'UF? or F'U'R'FRU? And once one of these works, you are going to have to try similar stuff for the next alg. you need (and this should make it clear why I don't think Fridrich is a good choice) There is no promise that any of this is actually going to work, but I think this is a much better mindset. At worst you will gain a much better understanding of how your normal 3x3 actually works.

That's a really interesting idea actually! Thanks for sharing! I have to admit the trickiness of this puzzle comes when the algorithms start to come into play, so you may be onto something there! I'll be sure to check it out and get back to you!

You can actually see why the pieces are locking. If the blue and green one are facing in such a way that you can use R and R' and orange and red for F and F', you can use CFOP with a few algorithms.
@coachreenasharma
@coachreenasharma 7 жыл бұрын
tuerda I think you're right. The beginner's method could be the best choice for this specific puzzle.
@tuerda
@tuerda 7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use any algorithm dependent method. That includes most beginner methods as well. There are some algorithm free methods which are suitable for beginners though. Maybe you could try one of those.

Dang it Chris! It could've been possible to do a mirrored alg to get the yellow cross set up! You're killing me (and I don't even own the cube)!
@shadowgrave3901
@shadowgrave3901 7 жыл бұрын
I am not completely sure if this works because I don't own a cube like this, but instead of turning it one way just once, couldn't u just move in the other way 3 times if it doesn't turn the way u want. For example, if u can't do U couldn't u do U'3?

With regard to why your last F2L pair worked after it was bandaged before, consider center rotations in picture cubes. Whatever you did to create the third pair changed the center rotations to allow for the next.

I think that when you make F2l, you have to make sure the black holes between the lock are facing up. Then, you can do most of the moves.

Your mistake was in the center orientations when you're setting up the initial cross. You should have made sure the green and blue faces could both move in either direction instead of being locked one way, then maintained that when you did the corners and second layer
@paytonrichards784
@paytonrichards784 6 жыл бұрын
Bram Cohen I think it's even better to do that with one of the sides and the opposite with the other for variety's sake. This allows you to easily swap the last 3 edges.
