I’ve been trying to find an answer to the high cloud quintet lore FOR MONTHS with the bits and pieces they’ve given. Especially about the Baiheng and Bailu theory. I have a whole collection of comments across videos about my endless rants. And I think I lost it. The companion quests align with one another if you connect the dots. In Dan Heng’s one of the main points was his connection to Bailu, Vidyadhara reproduction and the high elder. Bailu’s dialogue very much can be a hint towards them knowing each other in the past, the Vidyadhara we’re talking about Dan Feng’s past sin and one of the mirage echoes even said that he found a way to reproduce not by conventional means but by transforming another species into a Vidyadhara. Even the psychology of Dan Feng’s mindset, it was very much obvious his motivation was that he didn’t want to lose people if you noticed small bits about his character so I kind of assumed that as his motivation to commit the great sin but in this quest line it was outright said that he didn’t agree with honour in death. Dan Feng was also implied to not really care for the other Vidyadhara as he didn’t tell them how to make use of the transmutation arcanum as the Vidyadhara tend to think they are a superior species maybe because the high cloud quintet were considered outcasts as said by Jing Liu and their characters (Baiheng is a terrible pilot, Yingxing is a short life species, IL didn’t have the greatest reputation as seen by the mirage echoes) so I didn’t really think Dan Feng would care to choose someone for the high elder succession based on tradition and he was depicted as quite cold with a caring side to those he considered friend an idea considered by Bailu during IL’s companion quest. So he wouldn’t do it for someone he wasn’t close to and the only people we know were quite close to Dan Feng were the high cloud quintet. Another thing that I usually also don’t take into consideration with these theories is the physical attributes shared but hoyoverse does this with A LOT of characters. Luocha and Otto for example. But with Bailu it’s very very similar. The name, the hair and the same blue and green/yellow eyes. Throwing this theory away seems closed minded as people instantly jumped on the train that Luocha was Otto based on looks alone and this theory has way more than just character appearance. There’s a lot more to this but it’s 2am and can’t be bothered to comment more on this. And honestly it seems to be getting more evidence but hell if I know. Chances are they won’t confirm anything.

Like it's his way of checking up on her.

If you play this quest and end up not feeling like blade and jing yuan aren't the most hurt people in this game, you have no soul. I always tear up on Blade's cutscene. Hurts man.

One of the things that I find most compelling about the Baiheng->Bailu theory is that no reference is made to Bailu's past life. She, by all indications, sprung from the sea after Dan Feng's molting rebirth. Giving that we know Vidyardhara can not reproduce, and Dan Feng was trying to bring Baiheng back, it seems obvious what occurred.

It regens 1 reserved resin every 18 mins so it's 30 days worth of resin 2400. I have around 70 fuel myself cause I'm nervous to use it but I use it when I'm desperate for something that requires resin.
