For axe and lance users, veteran FE players tend to run the 1-2 range weapons a lot. For future gauntlets using characters without special/personal/story-relevant weapons, maybe you can run through with hand axe & javelin?

It's often better to send a unit out with nothing but a hand axe or javelin than steel or even a silver weapon. Killing weapons at least have a chance of leveling the playing field. Unlike other faster and more skilled units, the only thing stopping a constant tide of damage from rolling in is actually eliminating enemy units as fast as possible. Forcing them to endure an extra turn or 2 worth of damage per battle is just unfair. FE's axe users and lancers are at a general disadvantage in the first place because they tend to be unable to dodge attacks, even from units who they have a weapon advantage against.

if you ever get around to doing a flier run, do you think you could break the wall on the right side of the archer and put him there so that when the door opens the flier doesnt get 1 rounded? you can try a run with the archer unmoved to see how they would do, but I think a flier may need this minor boost or fliers are gonna be stuck on round 3 if they cannot 1 round kill. Speaking of fliers lets give tana a shot.

I'm going to request Gerik. He's an absolute monster, even just based on his averages, while still having the downsides of being sword-locked. Ephraim is another option, but his level 20 stats, lances, and prf weapon pretty much guarantee he's going to sail through these rounds until he gets to the super trainee.

Dorcas, and fighters in general have deceptively low bulk. You look at the massive HP pool and think that they must be able to take a lot of punishment, but between their low speed and low defence, they get hit more often, and get hit harder than everyone else around them. The big HP pool just makes them harder to heal than your dodge or defence tanks.

Haven't been able to keep up with the latest live streams, so I'm behind on the poisoned Dorcas memes, but he did about as well as I was expecting. I like using him because seeing his giant health bar is fun, but I've never really had him turn out super good. I feel like you need to try a lance user since the only one that's been done is Amelia, so my vote is for either Ephraim, Gilliam, or Tana. Though if you'd rather run another magic user, I'm still hoping for Lucius!

With how bad the poison weapons are in this game, I wonder if Dorcas would do better if the enemies were the ones wielding them. It would make his terrible defense more of an asset, but I imagine he'll still get hit a lot and take significant poison damage over the run. Maybe give him a 9-use antidote? 🤔

Yeah, Dorcas has decent starting stats but absolutely patheitc growths, letting him fall off by the midgame. With that said, defensive tiles like forests and forts do an incredible job of getting around some of these issues, so it might not be a bad idea to park him in such spots with a Hand Axe/Tomahawk and let him draw fire while the rest of your team catch up.

unfortunately having meh luck and def, and bad spd and res are quite bad for taking on multiple enemies without a consistent source of healing. HP tanks in general are going to do awfully in this gauntlet, but dorcas especially needs either supports, weapon triangle, or the swordslayer (which, if you are unaware, is the best non legendary axe in the game, even against other axe users) if he wants to do well here.

To be fair you are not using the trademark weapon of axe users, without his hand axe any 2 range unit will hit him for free which is not a fighter way to engage beign a high HP, high damage, low resistances unit.

Technically, Dorcas poison run has the best record against The Child of any unit, therefore he must be the best candidate you've had so far! But yeah RIP unfortunately I think this illustrates how dirty fighter units get done in FE a lot of the time, so many of them scale really badly over time.
