I've been researching this topic for a long time, as an entomologist. This was a great talk - you covered a great range of the details, data and culture around this subject and I really enjoyed hearing your take. Thanks and great Ted talk.

I'm about to add insects to my diet, starting by Tenebrio molitor. Breeding by me. This gives me motivation so thank you.

Well, I'm not sure I'm ready to eat a primary diet of insects, but I definitely can appreciate this approach to problem solving. No question that all innovation requires change of perspective. I'm game!

I am not sure how eating bugs in mass amounts will effect our eco system.

john lingafelter as an alternative source of protein to beef, that requires so much more water, food and land to produce than insects and which also contributes carbon to the atmosphere. Insects are very high in protein and other nutrients

Great idea and vision, but I've checked his products on his website (Chapul.com) and on amazon, and they are very very expensive. Growing crickets is supposed to require much less money than meat/dairy since it requires much less space and ressources, and yet his company sells the cricket protein powder at 70$/kg? I see a bit of hypocrisy here. If he was really into "saving the environment and the planet" as he claims to be, he would be selling the cricket powder at a much more reasonable price. As it is, I can't help but think that his main motivation is to generate profits $$$ rather than helping the world and the environment. Too bad.
