I know that this video is 2 weeks old already but im hoping that the creator or someone watching who knows about the wave 2 or just air con in general could maybe answer my questions. I live in the UK and generally we don't need aircon, We're an Island so marine temperate climate. For example the 30yr average max daytime temperature for December is 7c (44.6f) and August its 22c (71.6f). However we get the odd week or so of a heatwave every once in a while which thanks to no air con, our very insulated buildings (we build them to stay warm) and our very high humidity all combine into living hell. For example July 2022 we reached 40.3c (104.5f). I live in an apartment which is south facing and has a massive 2mx2m (6ft7x6ft7) window in both my living room and bedroom (kitchen, hallway and bathroom have no windows as face the inside of the building) don't have through flow air unless i open my apartment front door! My apartment basically turns into a greenhouse in the summer and I do everything I can to keep it as cool as possible. I have black out curtains and blinds which I fully close whenever the temperature increases and the suns out however i have experienced multiple occasions where my indoor temperature has gone over 30c (86f) for days at a time and I can't keep dealing with it. My only option is portable air-conditioning units and the general plug in version are pretty big compared to a UK 1 bed apartment and I'd need 2 units, 1 for the bedroom and 1 for the living room so storage for the 98% of the time they're not in use is a major consideration which is why I am considering the wave 2. Bedroom is 13.2m2 (142sqf) so id need 1.34w/4611btu/hr (living room is a weird shape but similar size) so the wave 2 *should* work but from reviews I've seen it struggles to cool a tent? No one, even if they've used it indoors on ac power has mentioned how it cools indoors? Reason other styles of Aircon not possible: Window style not compatible with window unit style Aircon (+not usually found in the uk) Mini split/heat pump: live in a 5th floor apartment and can't install anything externally. So would the eco flow wave 2 be preferable over a standard portable ac unit?

@@nixi-bixi 👋 so, there are better units that only have one exhaust vent and no intake vent that will provide more cooling. Look up “Portable Air Conditioner” and you’ll find the ones I’m talking about. This Wave 2 could work but costs much more than those other options due to its portability and add on battery. Those same units have heating options as well, so check around and happy searching!

I experiment a lot with windows , window ac , portable ac , ductless mini split . This eco flow wave will be of absolutely no use in your case . Almost 7ft by 7ft windows increase btu by a large amount . If the sun faces those windows during the afternoon , even with window covers it will be tough to get the temp down . Another factor is living on the 5th floor as heat naturally rises . Your 4611 btu rating does not take into account natural heat rise of being on the 5th floor or the extra large windows . Buildings absorb heat throughout the day as well and then slowly dissipate that heat throughout the night . 8-9k btu in the bedroom . Living room, kitchen area can easily use 12k Btu portable unit to cover the rest of the apartment especially with any amount of cooking .

I tried this experiment myself. This is what i concluded. Not with running it during the day. Way too hot. I also had my tent with no shade. The sun constant beating on it defeats the cooling. Lastly, most important, don't charge while you have the wave battery at full capacity. I have an Anker 767. I monitored the power output. It swings up and down which in sure is not healthy. The reason is because although you have the wave battery it appears that the power is coming from the battery and the when it drops the power station charges it. Constant swings. A better way to use it is run it off the wave battery alone and when it has dropped off a good amount then have the power station run the wave 2. It will have a constant out flow of power while charging back up the wave 2. I think this will help extend your battery back up the most. You'll be able to run on sleep mode all night long with a good amount of battery left over. Then recharge everything during the day with solar. If need be, top of the remaining with a small portable generator.

Thanks for the test in the heat. It was 113 two days ago, 112 yesterday, today it will get to around 109. I was looking at the Delta 2 Max with 2 220w panels and the ecoflow wave 2. Yea its not going to work. I might go buy a cheap window unit and see what it can do. Possibly only camping in heat with shore power.

You could save 30% power on the Delta using DC power instead of AC (inverted). But the special cable costs $70 for 3' or $140 for 15' 😮.

Exactly I use my wave to cool off a small office and using DC on max the highest wattage is about 410w on manual avg about 320w and on eco 210w … with my delta 2max and 400 watts panels I can run it 8 -10 hours a day with about 40% battery going to the next day I would top it off with ac charge

I ended up using just a small portable (rolling) ac. It’s weight is almost same weight. My tent ended up being freezing. Neighbor tents people were coming over. I used a basic generator for power

Hey there. Thanks for the video. A couple of tips. You should not run the A/c on max or high, for an extended time. Try running it on max cool just long enough to get rid of the humidity and start to cool the area. Then switch to low. Your Ac will run more efficiently, and use less power to cool the same area. Also, you need to insulate the exhaust hose. It gets VERY hot and radiates that heat back into the tent. I use it to cool down our motorcycle camper (high 90's low 100's with heat index) here in South Florida. I start with max mode for around an hour, and then lower it to low during the day. Then when we go to sleep, i put it in Eco mode (the leaf icon) and it keeps it nice and cold through the night. Putting a tarp over the tent will help with keeping the direct sunlight from baking the tent if you can't setup in the shade.

My EcoFlow Wave 2 arrived a couple of weeks ago and I have not yet set it up. It is my emergency back-up plan, to cool a small section of my house (kitchen and dining room, sleeping on the floor of the dining room) during power outages this summer. The more I learn of its limitations, though, the more concerned I am about being able to stay in my home. I believe it can intake only 600W, which is less than it usually uses to run, so whether using a battery bank or solar panels, it doesn't look feasible for daily use. Your energy use for only part of the night was disappointing. I also learned from another source that it really is too large to use in an SUV, which was my other plan. I am extremely sensitive to heat now that I am elderly, so I'm worried. Thanks for the realistic trial run; it really puts this machine's capabilities into perspective.

I don't think it'll be able to keep that much of your house cooled. Think its a little too small for it. Maybe like one bedroom if you seal it off. Might need to look into a small invertor generator and a dual hose portable a/c unit. Cut your a/c off and run a test run so you'll be able to return it if needed instead of waiting for the power outage to test it.

If you are looking for it to cool part of a home during a poweroutage, get a small window unit and a battery bank or generator. This will do nothing for you.

In the instructions it says the unit should be outside and only the one discharge on the front should be stuck into the tent? This would keep it from radiating back into the tent ⛺️

Nice max test . A more realistic test would be nice . Turn on about 30 mins before going to bed and setpoint of 74-75 ?

The exhaust vent will contribute to the overall heat. Perhaps insulating the exterior of the vent tube will help with cooling.

I tried this with mine and the wave 2 is completely useless in a truck camper. Even overnight.i had the 1kw battery plus 3kw remaining in my d2max with extra battery and it was completely useless to even lower the temperature at night in my camper. truly one of the most disappointing products i have ever bought.

Brother, love the channel and videos. Feel free to remove this comment of just constructive criticism but for 800.00 you can get a very cheap 12 volt compressor window unit and a 1 circuit quiet generator for less then 500 and freeze yourself out of the tent lol. I built a box for my little window unit with built in dolly and 6 inch hook ups for in and out ports for my 24 foot trailer and it really works. Plus come end of season you can pick up a 3k to 5k 12 v compressor window unit for under 100.00. Again totally feel free to delete this comment if this is a sponsored video and dont get me wrong it is always nice to see the next innovative ideas but unfortunately its just not there yet. That might work in a tent, at night but in anything larger like a van it won't cool down to below 75 in the day time because the thermostat only goes to 60°F. A car air conditioner can go to 50. A central air conditioner goes to 50°F. To over come the extremely high temperature.

The thermostat has nothing to do with its cooling capacity.
