As a French-US dual national, I am strongly in favor of the European project. The institutions that undergird the EU are largely inadequate. The European Council, which holds ultimate political power, deliberates behind closed doors. This means that the Council is more a club of heads of state and ministers than a recognizable democratic institution. It allows the heads of state to negotiate a deal on a particular issue and then return to their country and complain that "Brussels" imposed the decision on their country. Furthermore, most EU citizens have no ideas of the role of the council, believing that all executive power is held by the European Commission. So, from an economic point of view the EU has been an overwhelming success. From a political point of view, it has been something of a muddled mess largely validating the accusations of the nationalists in each EU country.

The view from Asia is that Europe was lazy and entitled, and living off past glories. It had a way too comprehensive welfare system. Part of it was that Europe wasn't hungry enough to build a Silicon Valley. Or a Shenzhen. Or a Bangalore. These things are built by people, by citizens and immigrants. Europe should be proud of what they've achieved in the arts, but they did not create the new wave of technology. That was done by the USA, by China and India, and other parts of Asia. @@sjman7952 The distribution of US Military, to over 700 locations, sure does resemble the British Empire methods of Colonial Exploitation. The contemporary efforts to keep Taiwan as a Colony are pretty blatantly based on expressing the ability to take what creates profits, by force. The effort to maintain the Colony that France allowed them to move into in Southeast Asia, cost more that the USA could afford. The US is currently way over their heads in debt, attempting to maintain one small Island Colony. The Europeans appear pleased to exploit the Balkans for the small amounts of minerals available in that region. While the US is milking European Consumers with overpriced LNG to maintain a positive GDP. The ability to maintain the Feudal system that has become an American Colonial Empire, seems to be positive, until the cost of the Currency is considered. The British handed over the Persian Colony to the USA after WW2, and the USA failed to keep that Colony for long. The Brits moaned as their Colonial Empire slowly became too expensive to maintain, the USA will not even admit that they are now in that Titanic sinking ship of State. Superpowers are super costly.

European leaders all failed to miss the most important point how to becoming a global power. Any nation striving to become a global power, meaning building up super economic strength, it must have a global vision. It must cooperate and be friends with all other nations. It must respect the other nations believing that they have the right to elect a system suitable for themselves and set aside political differences. Let's take motor industry for example. No nation could rely on its internal market even to survive. By inserting sanctions on countries with polical differences, we are ruining that potential market. Furthermore, European leaders must recognise that historically they are imperialists. They have to work twice as hard to gain trust and confidence from other nations specially those whom they have invaded in the past.

Europe formed their lifestyle from Colonial Exploitation. They now appear to desire the resources that are owned by the BRICS Associates. The assembled Nations who are now meeting in Kazan, are discussing their ownership of resources. The West will be left out of World Trade by their Fiat Currency lacking support. The G-7 has milked the World for long enough. The Trade Union that now represents over 75% of available resources, is able to demand the price they desire. Colonial Exploitation has ended.

Europe was the most developed continent, together with northern India and the Central-Northern Plains of China, in the medieval times. In the mid 1400s, right before the discovery of America by the Europeans, the Italian Peninsula was the second biggest global gdp, right behind Ming China. When Europe was inventing the mechanic writing stamp, automatic fountains, water mills for grain manufacturing and massive galleons that couldn't be compared to any other boat on the planet except for the Ming's treasure ships - the Americas, the African continent, most of Asia, and Oceania were all centuries behind, some even in the bronze age. So this idea that Europe built its wealth on Colonial Exploitation can only be believed by people who have ZERO knowledge of pre-1492 history. During the Roman Empire, the Romans had the biggest gdp, side by side with the Han Dynasty. In the early 600s and late 800s, the Eastern Roman Empire based in Constantinople was one of the most advanced and prosperous polities on the planet. In the 300s B.C. Europeans were creating some of the most realistic statues seen in the history of arts, out of bronze, in Greece. In the 1400s Europeans were painting portraits and landscapes so precise, detailed and realistic, that no other art style on the planet could compare. Until the 1600s, the only countries that benefited from Colonialism were Portugal and Spain. Until the 1800s there had been only 5 european countries that had successfully established colonies. FIVE. Out of 50 total countries today in Europe. The colonisation of Africa was cemented in 1878, with the Berlin Conference. By 1950 decolonization was in full effect across Africa. That means it lasted for less than 80 years. So...Wtf are you talking about?

@@icu17siberia Sweden: Sweden had a long history of neutrality, but after the end of the Cold War, it deepened its cooperation with NATO through the Partnership for Peace program and took part in NATO-led missions (such as in Afghanistan). However, the idea of full membership remained a contentious issue, with a significant portion of the population and political elites favoring continued non-alignment. There were periodic discussions about joining NATO, but the government did not pursue it as a policy. Finland: Finland also had a policy of military non-alignment but shared a long border with Russia and had historical reasons to be cautious about its relations with Moscow. Finland cooperated with NATO through joint exercises and partnerships, but there was no active pursuit of membership before 2022. The idea of joining NATO was debated occasionally, but like in Sweden, there wasn't widespread political or public support for it. Finnish leaders were careful to balance security cooperation with the West while avoiding moves that could provoke Russia. Key Change After the Ukraine War: Russia's invasion of Ukraine marked a turning point. Both Sweden and Finland reassessed their security policies, and public and political support for NATO membership surged dramatically. The war underscored the risks of military non-alignment in the face of an aggressive Russia, leading both countries to apply for NATO membership in May 2022. This was a direct consequence of the war, rather than a goal they had been actively working towards before it began.

Thanks to the US, by provoking Russia for war by expanding NATO to its doorstep, not only has Europe become more dependent on USA for its security, but by banning cheap oil and gas from Russia (by destroying Nord Stream gas pipeline), Europe has also become dependent on USA for energy. Europe still heavily depends on Russia and Ukraine to a large extent for its food security. Remember that Europe follows USA in terms of diplomacy too, but is also completely dependent on China in terms of manufacturing. (Note that Europe does not have a single Big Tech company forget about Tech sovereignty completely) Apart from this, there are so many differences among the European countries that all the countries of Europe are not even members of any single Institution or Group, be it the European Union or NATO. So how can an entity (continent) which is so internally divided, which depends on other countries for their Energy, Food, Manufacturing, Security and Diplomacy, become a Superpower even in its Dreams? It's something to think about! 🤔😒🙏
