Good man Phil,at least you are willing to give it a go. If it were me I'd probably be still figuring out how to get the bonnet off. Love the 135,reminds me of my teenage years driving my uncle one on my summer holidays on his farm. May he rest in peace.

when you put the fan on make sure you lock the bolts holding it, had to change a pump on a BORROWED135 back in the 80's never locked the bolts and fan came off and did a job on the rad, I cried in a field of rowed hay watching the water run on to the hay fit for tramming, but I was a youg lad in a rush, your doing a great job and you may change the hoses while you at it

Had the same issue with doing pretty much the same job on a dexta a few months ago. Pretty much the same perkins engine. Got stumped on the brackets for the alternator as well. Took a but of thinking but got it sorted. 1 The bracket holding on the alternator need to be lined up with the alternator in place so that it runs in line otherwise you will wear the belt. There should be enough play in the holes for that. 2 the thighening bracket that you think you dont need anymore can be put in a vice so that it lines up straight. Took me a while and a few adjustments in the vice but got it sorted. The wiring loom drawings aren't great to follow and it took me a bit of googling other photos of the engines to make sure I got it right. I had to cut and re make some of the wires as a earth is needed on the loom. Ideally you should be changing everything like for like so it should be a bit easier for you. Walk through the connections of the old loom before you take it off. 3 the older dynamo setup used a positive earth battery make sure that the new setup changed to a negative earth when they fitted the alternator.

I'd advise replacing all the water hoses when in that area. The casting on the water pump has different shapes and edges and the old hoses have been compressed on the old pump and don't reseal to good. Always start to leak when you have every bolt in the bonnet and tightened. Those Duncan cabs are nightmare for fitting bonnet bolts but at least it's a 2 door cab!

Have done plenty of 3 cyl water pumps without taking rad off, probably why ive no skin on my knuckles, never seen a brass backing plate though, they are usually made of a plastic type of material, slotted hole in axle cradle is there from new, could never understand why they didnt make both holes that way, should really have put a new bypass hose on when re fitting pump, but thats me being picky

Uncle of mine bought a new 135 in late 60's, think it was 68. He drove it from Cork city to just outside Mallow (price cheaper in Cork than local dealer), spent 4 days cutting hay so it didn't see home till he had 50 odd hours on it! Big mistake though, they should have stretched budget to 165. The 135 was very overworked and struggled on the farm

Looks like there’s a hole in the brass gasket / plate which will let water / coolant into the oil via the timing cover, water will be the first fluid sucked up by the oil pump and wreck the engine. Hopefully father Phil does a review before the engine is started. Good video Phil …. Your dads experience is priceless

Definitely an early 135, your rev counter is in the center of the dash and i can see the remains of the early aluminium badge bar on the bonnet, id guess she is 1965 or 1966, if you crawl under the engine and assuming she still has the original engine the day, month and year the sump was cast is cast on to the part of the sump that slopes up towards the front axle cradle, it too will give you an idea when the tractor was made, one of our own 135's is a February 1966 model with a December 1965 date on the sump.

At the price of diesel more work will be done with these small tractors just like we did years ago. I laugh when I see massive tractors being used for wee simple jobs that our 35s have done for years.... Keep the alternator up and away from the steering rods on a full lock.....
