I think Gurrutxaga was easily your best player, and you'll definitely miss him when he goes back to Liverpool. I think Talbi and Idah are fine, but they're not going to get you enough goals to dominate the league; I personally think you should go out for a main striker in the summer, and have those two - or just one - as backup. I also think you're right about Hackett, he's okay, but probably a bit of a weak link. A good left back and a good striker, or someone who can get you goals from the wing, might be the best thing. Having said that, Talbi will probably go and score 56 goals next season and shut me up. You could always demand the board sign Mbappe or you quit. Thanks for the season, Jack! Agreed. Have two solid rotational strikers, but need to get in the man. Try and figure a loan with option to buy for Gurrutxaga maybe, as once you are promoted he maybe more inclined to sign permanently. Although the Polish Haaland is another option. And an upgrade at LB makes sense, you are looking to advance the club rapidly, so upgrading by buying starters to make former starters depth players is a good way to do that. Also even with a sugar Daddy, that quick of an improvement, you want to play the net spend game, so look to sell high on some of the older less critical players, and bring in cheaper younger ones, so you can always turbo charge your transfer budget when needed.

Championship is perfect time to club jump. The story has been refreshed by the challenge at Crystal Palace. Prune and renew in the Championship, then launch into the Prem. I found Leicester on a similar lull in my last English campaign, a lot of fun.

I think a good clean sweep of the players who don't want to be there is the first step - even if you sell a few of them for below market value, it'll add a huge amount to your transfer fund to go out and get those foreign U21s before you storm to victory next season

I feel like if you had got the job at the first opportunity you would be in the play offs now - so blame falls with the chairman!! The time to gel the new players and all the draws while they adapted was inevitable BUT by keeping additions to a minimum I think you are basically ready to hit the ground running again. I would still try everything in your power to get Gurrutxaga for another season as his goals from different positions will be valuable!

You could play Mackintosh as a more defensive RB /IWB that tucks into a back 3 or underlaps when in possession and sign a really attacking LB that looks to bomb forward and overlap (I don't think Hackett will hack it in the future). You'd probably have to sign a new RW that looks to play wider, but Oddei wants to leave anyway! Gurrutxaga needs replacing in a big way as I don't think Talbi or Idah can replicate his goalscoring. Tulio would be a great DM, and good CB backup, few more years and he'll be a top player.

Saw in the last episode that Severyn already had 10 caps for Poland, so pretty sure he should get his work permit soon, so should fill the gap left by Guruxhaga. You broke the back of the job in January, but still good opportunity to find some young talent now, and the world class facilities will help. Are the U19 and reserve coaches up to standard?

A fun suggestion for the Caiazzo mispronunciation saga: since you’re intent on pronouncing it Cazoo, you could invest in a kazoo. which is a children’s musical instrument that you can buy pretty cheaply from Amazon, it’s designed to be incredibly easy to play and you can bang out a (pretty pathetic) tune on them, at the very least it would give you a free excuse to continue pronouncing his name wrong.

Player of the season Gurrutxaga and candido. Iff you want to dominate the league i fear that Talbi and Idah are not enough to fill the gap that gurrutxaga will leave behind. You are right about Hackett. weak link. Would upgrade him iff possible. Sell all the unhappy players + Valdir. Reinforce your midfield and you wingers and you have the qualtiy of a mid premiere league team. Buy Leftback, Balwining midfield (imo Tulio isn't good enough short term for the main 11) , back-up AM (a youngster iff you have no one in the B-team). 2 wingers (exit gurrutxaga, oddei, abde, torres, eze, ....)
