The explanation of the iem tip, people need to understand this is true. I've used IEMs where all the included tips did just not play well with my ears. I thought this one pair of really good IEMs was bad. Turns out when I plopped the right tips on, it fixed everything for me. Tips!!!!

I purchased the FA19 on a whim after seeing them recommended as a gaming IEM. They are great for gaming surprisingly in spite of the bass , so it’s good if you play competitive shooters. The switch is fun for immersive games as well. But in terms of music, yeah, I agree with the review. At stock, the bass is bloaty and comparing these to the Monarch MK3, also a kilobuck IEM, blows them out of the water in terms of detail retrieval, and soundstage. I’m not sensitive to sibilance so I can’t comment on that. I do find the FA19 benefit a lot from tip rolling. Tips in particular that reduce bass pair well. I really, really enjoy these with the Tri Clarion tips. The bass becomes more controlled and it becomes a very fun sounding, guilty pleasure IEM. This is what worked for me, but like Super said, there are better options for dedicated music IEM at lower price points.

My ears are too large for all IEMs. My concha is very tall, to the point that I can fit a finger in between the top of any IEMs and the upper edge of the concha. with good tips it doesn't affect the fit too much. Laughing or eating pushes regular IEMs upwards into the empty spot and breaks the seal though. I moulded some "shell extensions" and painted them glossy black for my Performer 5, so now they are the exact shape of my ears and there's no empty space. They're like CIEMs now lol

😂this guy has a specific sound preference that has no bass. I have this iem and it doesn’t have enough bass for me. If you’re considering buying this iem. Just try it first. The imaging and soundstage was the reason why I kept it. I’ll be comparing to the ier-zr1 for my music type. This imaging is elite in gaming. I use it for COD and it’s basically wall hacking based on the fact I can hear the direction accurately. I have a EQ tune target for COD with elevated gain on SPECIFIC frequencies that hear footsteps along with decreased gain on certain frequencies to reduce bass and my gun loudness This is probably too much to read but so is this poor review grade given by this guy. Just know your ears are what makes it work for you. Following a certain person preferences only matters when you have the same taste as them. Beware

I agree with a lot of the sentiment in this comment... except that not liking FA19 = not liking bass. This is bad bass. There is good bass that is awesome. FA19 is not it. Enjoy.

I bought the FA19 because the FR graphics looks like the SA6 mk2. I love the SA6 mk2 so I think maybe the FA19 will be an upgrade. And looking at the FA19 graph, it seems that Fiio wasn't afraid to add medium bass. Something that I love. Well... I'll just find out if it's really good, only when FA19 arrives

Fiio is weird, they make great DAC/Amp gear, and their dongles are amazing, but I have never jumped on one of their IEMs, despite thinking about one of their flatheads a number of times.

How do the Fiio take EQ? Because of it is a tunning problem... That can be sorted. If it is crossover issues (as in the frequencies at which different BAs start to take over) then there is little you can do except sending them back and hoping they change their tuning properly. The point is if the drivers are quality drivers then this could be a solvable problem in future iterations.

IMO "driver quality" is not really a useful concept for people like us that are hearing end results. At least I have not seen/heard evidence that it's helpful.

@@SuperReview a bit like cooking. I can make a perfect lasagna with canned ingredients. The seasoning perfect, the flavours perfectly balanced. Then I can make a lasagna with fresh organic produce with same characteristics and the better ingredient lasagna will just blow your mind overwhelming it with nuanced flavours and textures. I.e. if you use cheap drivers you can tune the headphones perfectly but you will reach a limit on separation and technicality. With good drivers you can theoretically just increase several fold the texture and technicality of the music you are listening to.

I had the fh15 and I gave it away. The drivers st loud volume was so bad that they sounded like a 20 dollars iem. I guess the price was on the design only. The sound was really bad. Don't understand why fiio does not fire their sounds technical people.

Why don’t you mention the separation, density, soundstage and clarity. It is absolute a beast for those technicality. And 64Audio U4S it is absolutely worse than FA19 in these. It sounds like a regular $300 hybrid and you overate it.

Really is a pretty set of IEM's, but a farty bass sound is something I'd expect on a sub $10 IEM, lol whats up with that Fiio. Even if, I could never justify paying this much money for headphones, especially with how good sub $200 IEM's are these days

Fiio makes some fantastic IEMs: FH9,FH7,FD7. All BA IEM making is a peculiar craft for peculiar listeners. I personally hated all the allBA IEMs that i've tried.
