The sad thing being there are reputable people on YT promoting the purchase of such villas through 'shell companies', and they claim it's perfectly fine (in many cases even offer to assist in doing so).

@@laurencefarrugia431 Yes but I'm referring specifically to those promoting real estate in Pattaya/Thailand. They do those tours where they walk around the villa etc., then will explicitly state how it's 'not a problem' to buy the freehold property via such a Thai majority owned company. IMO it's a recipe for disaster.

You are correct and it makes me cringe. I see people on FB posting about how “they were able to buy a house on land in their name” with their name included. Such a risk.

I know people that have bought and had villas built and leased the land from the government for 30 yrs legally.
