I went and got my Thai tax number and filed a tax return per the 180 days in Thailand rule. None of my Social Security or pensions were taxable as I did not meet the income level.

Hi Ben, have you watched the recent expats club tax presentation,by one of your fellow countrymen + Thai lawyer. Virtually every question from the audience didn't get a straight answer through lack of knowledge and information being in a grey area. After watching most of your vids on youtube I come out on your side. The were totally unprepared, not because of ability but not getting information from the continuing changes/updates from the revenue department.

"This is not a new world, it is simply an extension of what began in the old one. It has patterned itself after every dictator who has ever planted the ripping imprint of a boot on the pages of history since the beginning of time. It has refinements, technological advances, and a more sophisticated approach to the destruction of human freedom. But like every one of the super-states that preceded it, it has one iron rule: logic is an enemy and truth is a menace." ~ Rod Serling

Question: Do these (admitted) scammers speak in English to members of English-speaking foreign community they contact? And does not this fact, in itself, raise the flags of "scam" in the minds of the people who are called about whatever issue? Strange. I have to admit that I have received a few calls myself in the past ten years, but I have to report that as soon as I say "Hello, can I help you?" the caller without the minimum explanation just hangs up. And if they did, the next obvious questions from me would necessarily be: "Who are you?" and "Why are you calling me?" Enough said...

host country has the right to collect data on where foreigners are based. their country their rules, on line and less bureaucracy required. ever seen how Russia and China monitors the population through local party oversight lol? if you enter another country their rules apply. The problem with Thailand is the bureaucracy and simply poor planning and systems. entitled foreigners dont deserve pandering to.

I was to apply for a LTR but after the tax debacle I passed. The LTR requires certified translations of certified copies of multipledocuments. Imagine having to organize that every tax year. All these visas only work for people who own NOTHING abroad.

In Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Macau China billions are earned with casinos and everything around it like hotels etc. The government of Thailand also wants to earn money with gambling tourism, and wants to sell this wish as man-made tourism. That's all.

I think you are jumping to conclusions about the new External Tax Revenue Department that Trump is talking about. Just like you are always telling us not to jump to conclusions about the Thai Tax system I don't think it is good to jump to conclusions about what America is going to do. I think taking your advice and waiting to see what Trump does is the best advice. From everything I have read so far about the new tax department it will be to collect Tariffs and make sure we are getting what is owed us from foreign countries. I may be wrong but I do not think it is to pursue American citizens individual tax obligations. And I think the current IRS agents will be put in charge of the new division.

Pho Quoc and Ba nai hills comes to mind, love Vietnam but never go to their man made attractions. Same with Thailand, been coming here for 14 years, for the people, the food, the culture. Not for casinos or amusement parks. That would make me stay home.

Casinos require cash injections from government if they fail to make money on their own like Star Casino in Brisbane which opened in August 2024 for AUD 3.6 billion.

@@susanzimmerli5178 I went the the offices in Nong Bua Lamphu Province and told the that I am a pensioner on a Retirement Visa. These offices include Taxation people. Think "Disney" when you tat about man made tourist destinations. Next are water parks and fake animal parks. Why would foreign tourists spend money to see these in Thailand when they have these attractions in their own country?

People come to Thailand for the culture and scenery not to gamble, if you want to gamble go to a concrete city like Las Vegas or Macau

USA immigration policy should reciprocate the same regulations on immigrates as American citizens are treated in other countries. Stop all chain migration and end the policy of anchor babies becoming automatic citizens of the USA.

i do not worry.......😆but....I do appreciate the opportunities this country has provided for my family, allowing my family to earn significantly with no efforts. I’m grateful to the hardworking people here, especially myself, for the increase in Millions of baht of our real estate and land , despite financial challenges of almost all here. Can you believe it ?? So generous........Millions of baht for free generated by thais....Those easy made bahts are safely stored in a local bank, but we plan to move them soon for better returns. With the profits, we’ll invest in property abroad and may return to repeat the process...... I wish everyone FARANG the same success in achieving maximum gains in this lovely country without effort and new opportunities elsewhere. ...have a nice day

The trouble with this revised tax policy is regardless whether it is being enforced, it is there, hanging over every expats head. Neither you nor any so called tax experts have provided even any guidelines for whether it is applicable and in what circumstances. Because you are too lazy. You are no better than the would be charlatan tax advisors you constantly complain about. They are probably giving better tax advice than you. Your only advice is dig a hole in the sand, stick your head in it and backfill, for a tax advisor to say don’t do anything until you are caught, is not advice at all. I paid for your advice once it was expensive, incorrect and self serving. You don’t know your subject then you jump up and down when someone dares to fill the void left by the silence from you so called experts, what a joke.
