Quality video boss, that hairband trick is well handy! Respect for mention the Torbay Dazzler also, i thought for a moment you weren't 😂

@TheCornishCottageGarden-bs5lf Yeah I don't know if the hairband trick is my own invention... it was like discovering fire for the first time I thought of it 😅 String, cable ties I find are a bit tight and can damage the cordyline as they rub on the leaves.

Great idea with the hair bobble. I've used cable ties but it's not great. Thanks for the tips 😀

@campbelltown1234. yeah, I used cable ties last year, but they tended to rub on the leaves. These are really soft hairbands, not like the standard type. As I mentioned, I am not an expert on hairband types so not sure if they have a different name lol 🤣 Thanks for watching.

great video! hopefully we dont get too much more of this cold weather!

Yeah man i will be doing everything I can to protect them this winter. What was the cordy situation like where you are after the 2022/2023 winter?
@richf_tropical_garden_projects24 күн бұрын
@GrowTropicalMK i dont blame you ! i had one get cut back to the ground but quite a few large ones around the area did ok and kept the height and leaves

@@richf_tropical_garden_projects very encouraging.. i am more worried about my t rex tbf, as only really the first year. I could put my indivisia in that cabin if it got real bad and no more worrying about my Australis!

@@GrowTropicalMK it seems some areas where hit much worse , has it got much woody stem? should be alright if it does🤔 yeah that could be worth it if it dips alot!
@GrowTropicalMK24 күн бұрын
@@richf_tropical_garden_projects yes it has a woody stem, videos i have watched are encouraging, just a shame to lose the height

Plenty of large red star cordyline near me, not as big as the plethora of green ones but still enough to suggest that they 'should' be ok?
@GrowTropicalMK25 күн бұрын
Yeah, I think it was just a particularly bad winter for milton keynes. There are no tall ones visible from the streets/roads in MK. Only 1 or two large green ones managed to keep their tops also. I used to live in reading, and most of the green ones are still all good, but plenty of red ones lost their tops.Interesting to know, did you get the same -6/-8c sustained lows in Essex?
@essexhognose180825 күн бұрын
@GrowTropicalMK I'd like to say no? Only recently been watching the weather due to starting with the tropical this year, but as a biker, it certainly wasn't that low on the daily commute for last few years
@GrowTropicalMK24 күн бұрын
@essexhognose1808 this is encouraging. I think they would be able to handle much colder, but only in a short burst, the sustained temps were the problem for me. My neighbours red star was 10 years old and managed to get to 3 foot high, so obviously, the winter has not been that bad in this time frame. The best of luck with your new tropcial garden this winter. I will get onto watching some of your vids soon.

Just realised, you don't have the tropcial vids. You planning on them?

@GrowTropicalMK it's been a while since I had all my snake videos up, need to get my ass I to fear and show my tropical journey from the start...
